I’m open to acting, but I’m not craving for it-Lisa Haydon

Vinay MR Mishra (BOMBAY TIMES; July 10, 2025)

In 2016, Lisa Haydon was seen in Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. However, the day of the release, the actress quietly stepped away from Bollywood — tying the knot with British businessman Dino Lalvani. Since then, her days have taken a dramatic turn from red carpets to routines. “My routine now is fixed,” Lisa says with a laugh.

“When I'm at home, I'll wake up and have an hour and a half to myself – meditation and prayer time. Then I'll do the school run. Grocery shopping very much revolves around running the household and supporting everyone else's lives.” In a chat, Lisa reflects on this detour from the film world, the quiet joy of family life, and whether the curtains might rise again on her acting career.

‘It’s been wonderful to be able to fully give myself to my children for eight years’
These days, the actress has an “opportunity to work a little bit more”, whether it is brand shoots for Tanishq or cover shoots. “I feel blessed that I could take time away to focus on family and still be able to come back to work again and feel good about it. There is always that consideration – if I put my energy here, then what will happen on the family front? I think that’s something women have often been made to consider. I love my work and my family. I don’t want to ever look back with regret about anything. It’s been wonderful to be able to fully give myself to my children for eight years.”

‘I’ve never lost my love for work’
Lisa, who is the mother of two boys and a girl, says that the course her life took was not really planned. “I never consciously stepped away or consciously made a comeback. Life comes in seasons. I’ve always followed whatever has felt right in that moment. It’s not so much about going away or then coming back or making a statement about acting not being my priority. I would love to work. I’ve never lost my love for it, but I just see life with its ebbs and flows. I’m glad that I had kids when I was young so I can return to work,” the 39-year-old, who is the face of Tanishq's latest campaign explains.

‘I missed being a part of the everyday buzz’
Did she miss being in the spotlight? She replies, “I didn’t necessarily miss the cameras, but I missed being a part of a collaborative workplace. Motherhood is a much quieter life, especially in those early years. It’s you and the baby. You perceive the world through their eyes and take on their feelings. So, you start to live a slower and more protected life. It can sometimes be a little bit secluded. I missed being a part of the everyday buzz, but then I kind of got used to it.”

So, is she ready to face the arc lights again? “I’m always open, but I’m not craving for it. I’m content, and when the right roles come, I’ll take them. Timing is everything,” she shares.

‘My kids have memorized the Vatavaran line’
Though Lisa’s children haven’t seen her films, they are aware that she is an actress and even know her famous ‘Vatavaran’ dialogue from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. “My kids know it, as they scroll Instagram sometimes on my phone. They have that ‘Vatavaran’ line memorized. They ask me, 'What does it mean?' It is inescapable online,” she says.

She adds, “They're aware that I have worked in films because they see people coming and asking for pictures or autographs. Two of my kids are artistically inclined in terms of drama. But I don't think that they've actually seen any of my films. And even I've done anything crazy or like, anything that's not kid friendly.”

Fawad Khan to return to Indian theatres with Abir Gulaal; to release by mid-2025

Fawad Khan to return to Indian screens with Vaani Kapoor co-starrer 'Abir Gulaal'

With Abir Gulaal wrapped up after a 37-day shoot in London, Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Khan set to return to Indian theatres in 2025 after nine years
Upala KBR (MID-DAY; December 28, 2024)

Those looking forward to watching Fawad Khan’s The Legend Of Maula Jatt (2022) were disappointed when the film’s India release was stalled again this October. But it looks like we’ll see the actor on the big screen in 2025. mid-day has learnt that Khan and Vaani Kapoor’s romantic comedy, Abir Gulaal, has been wrapped up and director Aarti S Bagdi is now readying it for a theatrical release. The film will mark the Pakistani actor’s return to Hindi cinema almost nine years after his last Bollywood offering, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016).

Sources tell us that beginning late September, the rom-com was shot in a straight schedule in London. The story revolves around two emotionally wounded people who inadvertently help each other heal.

A source from the unit reveals, “Abir Gulaal borrows its name from its lead characters. Fawad plays Abir, a London-based Indian chef, and Vaani, Gulaal, a traditional woman from Jaipur. The shoot began from September 29, with Aarti having planned a 40-day start-to-finish schedule. Filming was wrapped up in 37 days, as Vaani, Fawad and the supporting cast—including Lisa Haydon, Farida Jalal, Parmeet Sethi and Soni Razdan—were well-prepped. Initially the plan was to shoot a few scenes in Mumbai, but eventually, the entire shoot was conducted in London as the story is set against the British capital. Every technician, including designer Sheetal Sharma, was hand-picked from India. Now, the post-production is underway. A part of Fawad’s dubbing is left; that will be done online.”

Producer Vivek B Agrawal, who has been part of Udta Punjab (2016) and Vikram Vedha (2022), is aiming for a theatrical release between early and mid-2025. It may be noted that collaborations with Pakistani artistes had come to a grinding halt in Bollywood after the Uri attack in 2016. However, in October 2023, the Bombay High Court rejected a petition to ban cross-border collaborations, observing that doing so would be a step backward in promoting peace, unity, and cultural harmony. The makers are optimistic that Abir Gulaal, which is an Indian production, will have a smooth journey to the cinemas.

It’s important that I don’t get insecure and sign films just for a release or two-Jacqueline Fernandez

After a self-imposed sabbatical, Jacqueline Fernandez reveals her game plan
Himesh Mankad (MUMBAI MIRROR; October 31, 2019)

Mirror had earlier reported (May 31) that Jacqueline Fernandez had taken a break to take acting lessons at the Ivana Chubbuck Studio in Los Angeles, from which Hollywood biggies Charlize Theron, James Franco, Brad Pitt, Halle Berry, Gal Gadot and Gerard Butler have graduated. It has been six months since and the actress is back in the race.

“We actors always want to be in the limelight, but it’s nice to take a step back, get a perspective on what’s working for you and the trends,” she reasons, admitting that while many of her frat are too scared to take a step back, it’s important for her to live without the fear. “Now, when I sign a new film, it won’t be because I’m insecure but because I’m excited about the project.”

She acknowledges that there was a phase when she was skeptical about challenging herself as an actor. “I was hesitant because I wasn’t confident I’d be able to do justice to the part. But today, having trained myself, I’m open to experimenting with different roles and genres,” she avers, quick to add that commercial Hindi films will always be a part of her filmography as they are fun and challenging in their own right. “As long as you believe in what you do, you can give it your 100 per cent.”

Jacqueline regrets having missed out on a brilliant script earlier by a really good director. “I always thought I worked better in the commercial space, so, I was hesitant. Sonam (Kapoor) encouraged me to take on the challenge, but I didn’t do the film,” she sighs.

Opening up about future projects, she informs that she will kick off an action film in January. “It will be announced with the actor soon. Then, there’s Kick 2 which rolls next year. “Nadiad (producer Sajid Nadiadwala, who made his directorial debut with Kick in 2014 and will helm Part 2) is writing the script now. The earlier film was a game-changer for me. I’m sentimental and emotional about Kick. We’ll give the sequel our 200 per cent to make it bigger and better,” she promises.

Kick 2 will mark the third collaboration for Jacqueline and Salman. She’s in awe of her co-star: “Salman’s reach is so huge. Working with him is like going to film school, you get invaluable lessons while on the job.”

A woman-centric action film, which she is producing, is also in the pipeline. “We have zeroed in on something interesting and are locking the logistics. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a couple of years. We should have things in place by early next year,” she reveals. After Rohit Shetty’s cop-universe brought together Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh and Akshay Kumar to fight against a common evil, can she see a franchise led by three women? “Sonam has already set a trend with female collaborations, I hope they happen frequently. I’ve worked well with Deepika (Padukone) in Race 2, Nargis (Fakhri) and Lisa (Haydon) in Housefull 3. So, I’m open to such films,” Jacqueline beams.

She was to play the lead in the official adaptation of The Girl On The Train, but eventually stepped out, making way for Parineeti Chopra. “Her first look was brilliant and Parineeti will do an amazing job. It was not the film for me at that point. It’s important for me do films I absolutely want to do. It’s important that I don’t get insecure and sign films just for a release or two,” she signs off.

Unlike what men think, girls don’t talk only about boys and shopping-Shweta Tripathi

Shweta Tripathi: Want to play roles that people take home
Returning with the second edition of The Trip, Shweta Tripathi on her unconventional career choices and life after marriage
Letty Mariam Abraham (MID-DAY; November 27, 2018)

How has life changed after marriage?
The only difference is that my address has changed. I am still doing up our room. We’ve been dating for five years and couldn’t wait to get married. Cheetah [Chaitanya Sharma] is my anchor; he brought stability to my life. Acting is not just about glamour, you are portraying the emotions of so many characters and that sometimes plays with your sanity. That’s why it’s essential to have some ‘me’ time, and I get that with him.

The Trip 2 revolves around female bonding. What are you like with your girlfriends off-screen?
My girlfriends and I talk about cinema, the shows we are binge watching and how we can make a difference in society. We play board games like Settlers of Catan, and also travel together. In fact, we are already planning our next trip to Sri Lanka. Unlike what men think, girls don’t talk only about boys and shopping. Sadly, that perception has been created on screen because there are barely any female writers who can showcase the real equation women share. Luckily, I have worked with directors who are gender neutral in their treatment.

Did you miss Lisa Haydon during the shoot of the second season?
Only the production house can explain why she couldn’t be part of the second season. Lisa is a thorough professional. Even during the shoot of the first edition, she didn’t tell us about her pregnancy nor did she ask for favours. The way she celebrated motherhood on Instagram was beautiful. She is a commendable actor. We all missed her a lot.

Did it take a while to adjust with Amyra Dastur, considering she was the newbie on the set?
During the first meeting, Sapna [Pabbi], Mallika [Dua] and I kept talking about season one, and it was bound to be awkward for her. But after that, it was all about season 2. We became one unit.

You’ve created a niche with your off-beat choices in shows and movies. Has your career panned out the way you had planned?
I grew up on Yash Raj films and imagined myself wearing a yellow salwar suit, running across fields. I knew I liked to perform, but back then, I didn’t know what it truly entailed. For me, acting is not about looking glamorous — I barely have any makeup on in most of the films I do. I enjoy portraying real characters; the rest are perks of the job. My goal is to play characters that people take home.

You have worked with some talented actors. Has any co-star influenced you?
It would have to be Nawazuddin Siddiqui, my co-actor in Haraamkhor, my first film. There was so much to learn from him. He was so humble and down-to-earth; he would often discuss how we could do a certain scene together. It was not to put me down or challenge me, he did that out of respect for me as a co- star. That gesture made me confident as an artiste. Once, he told me, ‘Some actors always need to be choosy.’ His words have stayed with me since.

Amyra Dastur replaces Lisa Haydon in The Trip's second season

Amyra Dastur
Amyra Dastur to essay lead role in second season of miniseries, The Trip, after mommy duties keep Lisa Haydon tied down
Mohar Basu (MID-DAY; May 31, 2018)

With Lisa Haydon's tot turning one this month, the model has her hands full with baby duties. Her attention turned towards her boy, Zack Lalvani, the actor has decided to bow out of the second season of the web series, The Trip. With Haydon, her character Shonali too makes an exit from the show, leaving the door open for Amyra Dastur, who will now play one of the four protagonists in the second edition.

Dastur tells mid-day of her currently-unnamed character, "I'm excited to finally play a fun-filled, comic role. She [character] is quirky, intelligent and hilarious." With Lisa Haydon having already established her equation with the rest of the cast — including Mallika Dua, Sapna Pabbi and Shweta Tripathi - Amyra Dastur knows she'll need to make a distinct place for herself.

"It'll be interesting to see how my character's chemistry develops with the girls. Sonam and I are discussing how my character will react to situations, and more importantly, to the other girls. My focus is to ensure that my character is relatable and in sync with the cast and story." An international shooting schedule at an undisclosed location is being planned. Part two of the Bindass and Disney India series is likely to kick-off from where the first instalment concluded.

Lisa Haydon in the show

Not sure if Lisa Haydon is a part of The Trip 2-Shweta Tripathi

Shweta Tripathi
Letty Mariam Abraham (MID-DAY; November 8, 2017)

Her understated performances in Masaan (2015) and Haraamkhor (2017) made critics sit up and take notice. Before one could bracket her as an arthouse performer, Shweta Tripathi sprung back on the scene with The Trip - a web series that couldn't be further removed from her previous projects. Signing on a light-hearted show, she says, is a deliberate attempt to continuously surprise the audience. As she returns with the second season of The Trip, Tripathi talks about forging a deep friendship with co-stars Mallika Dua, Lisa Haydon and Sapna Pabbi, and the joys of travel.

Will The Trip 2 kick off from where the last season left off?
Considering the last trip constituted my bachelorette party, I don't know if my character will be shown as a married girl this time. We'll know once the show goes on floors in January. I've heard that it'll be a road trip in Rajasthan, but there's no confirmation yet. This season too will be about the characters discovering themselves during the trip. I think travel helps you grow as a person.

Are all the protagonists reprising their roles in the new season?
Mallika, Sapna and I are on board. Since Lisa just had her baby, I'm not sure if she will be joining us. I hope all four of us get back together because the last season was a great experience.

Did you stay in touch with them in the interim?
Sapna and I manage to catch up. We are total health freaks, so we meet over salads or coffee. She does Pilates and I've got hooked on to it because of her [laughs].

Have you met Lisa and her newborn Zack?
We had planned to meet her, but it didn't work out as she has been travelling a lot. But, she has been sending us baby pictures regularly. I have been quite busy too. I had to travel to Paris and Busan for the screening of Haraamkhor at their respective film festivals.

Most of your films have won critical acclaim. Had you imagined this sort of appreciation this early your career?
Not in the least. I didn't know such films existed. I wanted to be the kind of actor who would wear a salwar suit and dance in the fields [laughs]. Now, as I attend film festivals, it all seems like a dream. I'm glad to balance my serious roles with something like The Trip, which is an opportunity to do something different.

What's in the pipeline?
I've wrapped up Zoya Akhtar's web series, Made In Heaven. I've also signed a Tamil film that is set in the late '80s. I play a circus girl and am taking Tamil lessons for it. I also have a sci-fi film with Vikrant Massey. Besides these, I'm also turning producer with two films.

These heroines will step into Kangana Ranaut's shoes for the Southern remakes of Queen

MUMBAI MIRROR (November 4, 2017)

Actress-host Shibani Dandekar will reprise the role of Vijayalakshmi played by actress Lisa Haydon in the Telugu and Malayalam remakes of Vikas Bahl’s 2014 dramedy Queen.

Earlier, Amy Jackson was to play the role in all the four southern versions but dropped out over creative differences and non-availability of dates. Elli AvrRam has been cast in the Tamil and Kannada remakes.

The makers of the films are starting their first schedule in France with Tamannaah Bhatia, Kajal Aggarwal, Manjima Mohan and Parul Yadav in the title role.

The film will be sequentially shot at various locations with a tinge of southern flavour. The Hindi version featured Kangana Ranaut as Rani, a homely girl who after her wedding is called off, decides to go on her honeymoon alone. Travelling around Europe, she finds joy, makes friends and gains new-found independence.

Amy Jackson declines remake of Queen?

Amy Jackson
Nayandeep Rakshit (DNA; October 28, 2017)

Amy Jackson was recently offered Lisa Haydon’s part in the South remake of Queen. Our source reveals, “Amy was approached for the role in the remake, but that didn’t work out.” The Kangana Ranaut film is now being remade in four languages — Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Supergirl over Queen
Amy confirms, “I really wanted to be a part of the project. It’s a fun, fierce role. I loved Lisa Haydon’s role in the Hindi version and thought I could do justice to it for the remake.” She expressed unavailability of dates as the reason for opting out. Amy says, “It didn’t work out because of the schedule for Supergirl. It didn’t work out creatively.” Amy will be playing Saturn Girl in the superhero drama series, who arrives on Earth to help Supergirl against one of her biggest threats.

Role increased
While Lisa’s role in the Hindi version was a prominent one, where she played the second lead to Kangana and helped her in her journey of rediscovering herself, the makers even offered to extend the role if Amy agreed to do the film. She says, “I met the director and producer several times. They, in fact, developed my character more.” But our source reveals that Amy wasn’t happy with her character sketch in the final draft, even after the changes were made and hence she declined the offer.

Money matters
The actress was offered a huge sum to take up the role. Our source tells us, “The makers were extremely keen on casting Amy as they felt that she would suit the role. They even offered her a Rs 4 crore to come on board, but she didn’t agree.”

The couple shared their first picture with the little one online on Saturday, while leaving the London maternity hospital. The actress had created waves when she first announced her pregnancy on social media by posting her bikini picture, flaunting the baby bump. The caption read 'humble beginnings'. The Queen star tied the knot with her businessman beau Dino Lalvani in an intimate low-key ceremony last October. Here's wishing the couple heartiest congratulations.

The fit and the fabulous: Hrithik Roshan and Lisa Haydon reveal their fitness secrets

She’s a sensual yogini, he’s a focused gym buff. There could be no better ambassadors of health and fitness than Lisa Haydon and Hrithik Roshan
DNA (December 27, 2016)

Lisa Haydon and Hrithik Roshan feature in Vogue India’s January 2017 issue. This is an excerpt from the cover story of the issue.

BEAUTY ON THE GO: Lisa

Lisa discovered the joys of working out rather early in life. Looking good as a result of her healthy lifestyle is just a perk.

She started exercising when she was 11
“All credit to my mother who, despite having to look after eight children, always made time for exercise. She’d work out to Jane Fonda and later Kathy Smith and Cindy Crawford in between managing us. I soon joined her, as I loved aerobics and its accompanying music and the gorgeous swimsuits these women wore, showing off their super-fit legs that I desperately wanted. Then at 17, when I hit adolescence, I took to running for both the adrenaline rush and to blow off steam. I started with 10 rounds, then 20, and before I knew it I was running in professional marathons.

She wakes up at 6 am to exercise
“This is the only way I can be consistent, by 9 am I’m ready to go about my day as needed. So, I do Pilates thrice a week, run at the race course the other two days, do yoga at home once a week and give myself a break one day. I don’t work out for a shoot or a movie. For me, it’s a lifestyle. That one hour a day really pumps me up. I exercise because it makes me feel good… looking good as a result is an added bonus.”

GREEK GOD WITH A MISSION: Hrithik

Hrithik wants to get stronger than he’s ever been. He shares his strategy to stay fit and focused.

He bought a bullworker at age 11
“The first fitness equipment I owned was a bullworker I got through mail order when I was 11. I was obsessed with it. Of course, my dad (filmmaker Rakesh Roshan) was happy I was using it, for other reasons… he was concerned I’d stay stunted and every few days he’d ask what my height was. But the bullworker doesn’t help you grow tall — that’s largely genetics!”

Running gives him a high
“I love the feeling of running on the beach. Currently, I am also obsessed with calisthenics — it not only pushes you to challenge yourself, it also teaches you patience, because to achieve those big, crazy moves you have to start slowly. When at the gym, I intersperse weight training with functional moves.”

Old Hindi classics are his workout music
“It’s quite funny actually. I am a huge fan of techno, trance and electronica otherwise, but at the gym I like listening to soothing tracks. The fierce expression on my face while weight training is in complete contrast to the music playing.”

I'd love Leonardo DiCaprio gift wrapped for Christmas-Jacqueline Fernandez

Rachana Dubey (BOMBAY TIMES; December 25, 2016)

As you read this, Jacqueline Fernandez will be laying out a table for a lavish Christmas brunch at home in Sri Lanka. The former beauty queen had planned to bring in the festival with her family in Mumbai, but landed an opportunity to get back home instead. Before she could jet-set, she made time for a quick chat with BT. Excerpts:

You're home for Christmas. Weren't you planning to bring your family down to Mumbai?
Yes, I was but circumstances changed everything. Now, I am celebrating the festival at home with my parents and brothers. I never leave my parents alone because we know what a full house we had on Christmas when we were younger. My siblings now live abroad and I live in Mumbai, so my parents live alone in Sri Lanka. It's something I never want my parents to go through on a festival. We're trying to go back to what it used to be: a big, full and happy house. My brother and I are the only ones who haven't added a member to the family yet.

When do you plan to do that?
It'll happen when it's meant to happen. You can't put a time frame on it, right? It's a different time for me. The focus is different. It doesn't seem possible just now, but hopefully it will happen soon.

Tell us about your earliest memory of Christmas.
I must have been five or six.Our parents placed lots of presents under the tree. That year, I remember my mum took me out under the pretext to buy something.Maybe it was on purpose, which I realise now because we went to a toy store. I was sold off on a doll. I told her, 'Mom, it's already a day before Christmas and I think it's late for Santa to get me this.' I was so upset. When we returned from the mass, and I opened the last remaining present, it was the doll I loved. I couldn't believe it. I felt my Santa was cool and quick. When I think of it, I realise nothing beats the lengths parents go for their kids.

Have you ever spent Christmas alone?
I've never had to spend my Christmas alone. It would be too sad for me. No matter what, our culture doesn't allow it. You can't be without friends, family and cheer around you. It would be so depressing. I can't even dare attempt it.

When did you stop believing in the concept of Santa Claus?
When you are in class six or seven, and you are ready to be a cool teenager, I guess that is the time when you are trying to get rid of the childlike innocence and are desperate to grow up. That is when you grow out of that Santa Claus story. But till that age, I remember I used to be obsessed with Santa, I was bonkers over him.

What did you look for ward to as a teenager? Dressing up and going to Christmas parties?
Midnight mass! No one goes to school at that hour, right? And our school hosted the big midnight mass, which children from other schools also attended. It was a cool place to be. We'd all make new friends, wear our own clothes and not uniforms, and then, offer prayers. Doing something spiritual should never be remorseful. Our party would start right there. I was a goofy kid. My sister was the cool one, she was always well-dressed and with her hair well-styled. I always tried to be her. I was never the prettier one. I could never replicate my sister completely. At the same time, I enjoyed being with my brothers and running around. I was never the prim and proper girl.

Wouldn't you like to throw a bash for your friends in Bollywood?
I really want to, and I was planning to do it this year. It changed because the plan didn't pan out as I had thought. I am definitely hosting a bash next year. This year, I sent out hampers to everyone to spread cheer.

Have you ever played Secret Santa?
We played it last year with the Housefull 3 gang. But the boys (Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Abhishek Bachchan) didn't cooperate. They got us those fake thermocol gifts that we hang on our trees. They're so mean (laughs). Nargis (Fakhri), Lisa (Haydon) and I exchanged presents. This was my first Secret was my first Secret Santa game with colleagues.

Who do you want as your Santa from Bollywood?
I would like Karan Johar to be my Santa, he is very generous. I have seen his gifts. His hampers have a lot to offer. As for presents, I'd ask for solitaire diamond earrings, a limited latest edition bag and a painting. He's never getting me the painting but I wish he reads this interview.

Anyone in Bollywood you want to play a Santa to?
You know, if I became Santa, I would gift everyone I have worked with.

Salman Khan included?
Of course, I would gift him too. I think I'd present him a cool set of brushes for his paintings because at heart he's a simple guy. Salman is also very generous, so I'd contribute to his charity. I think he would appreciate that.

If you could have one person gift-wrapped for yourself for Christmas, who would that be?
I'd love Leonardo DiCaprio gift-wrapped for Christmas. I have grown up on his movies and I always thought he is very cool. I only hope that when I open the wrapper, he doesn't run away . The rest depends on whether he is there by will or choice.

And if you could wrap yourself and parcel to someone, you would...
I would send myself off to the Kardarshians. I would love to spend Christmas with them. They seem like an entertaining bunch.

Lisa Haydon bags web series The Trip

MUMBAI MIRROR (November 2, 2016)

Lisa Haydon who tied the knot with Dino Lalvani last Saturday in a beach wedding in Phuket, Thailand, is gung-ho about her first fiction series on the web. “Very excited to be a part of The Trip. Love the story. Looking forward to shooting,“ she gushed.

It's a coming-of-age story of four friends who go on a road trip which is a part of one of the friends' bachelorette celebrations. The journey which is an emotional roller coaster establishes the relationships they share with one another and their own self.

“Like the name suggests, it's based on an all girls trip as four friends embark on a journey together,“ informed the actress who has a sparkling cameo as Ranbir Kapoor's gold-digging girlfriend in Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

The show is slotted to go online in December.

"Lisa Haydon was giddy like a school girl": Exclusive details from the wedding in Thailand

MID-DAY (October 31, 2016)

"It was a completely non-celebrity, white beach wedding,” a guest from Lisa Haydon ’s nuptials reveals, requesting anonymity. The Queen (2014) actress got hitched over the weekend to boyfriend, Pakistan-born British businessman Dino Lalvani, who she has been dating for a year. The wedding was held at Amanpuri, a beach resort in Phuket, Thailand.

Lisa’s near and dear ones, including sister Malika Haydon, designer Malini Ramani, footballer Ameeta Venkat and Nina Shah (Malika’s partner in DJ duo The Electrovertz), were part of the celebrations. Lisa’s South Indian father, Venkat, walked her down the aisle — steps of the resort leading to the beach — in a white suit. Lisa was a stunner in a white gown and headgear; her 42-year-old groom donned a blue shirt and white blazer. The bridesmaids wore short white-and-beige dresses. The guest says, “Lisa was giddy like a school girl. She twirled like a ballerina as she walked to the beach, us holding the long lace train of her dress.” It was a short exchange of vows in Christian tradition, followed by uncorking of the bubbly.

“When Dino was told, ‘You may now kiss the bride’, he leaned in for a romantic French kiss and wouldn’t stop until Lisa was almost breathless. The two are made for each other,” says the guest, who stayed on at the resort for a day with friends of the actress.

Ramani was the first to break the news by posting pics on Instagram. Although an Europe wedding was planned for next year, the couple decided to get hitched this year itself — Dino proposed in September — in Thailand. Says the guest, “They kept the wedding date a secret to avoid talk around it.”

Check out Lisa Haydon in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

MUMBAI MIRROR (October 14, 2016)

After playing the feisty Vijayalakshmi in Vikas Bahl’s Queen and Jamuna Patel in Housefull 3, Lisa Haydon will next be seen in a special appearance in Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, also featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma. One caught a glimpse of the 30-year-old actress in just released “The Breakup Song” from the film. Buzz is, she plays Ranbir’s girlfriend.

“It’s just a cameo but her role is integral to the story,” a source close to the project informed Mirror, adding that Lisa shot for her part in July. Lisa has earlier refrained from revealing too many details apart from describing her character as “interesting.”

While speaking to an agency earlier Lisa had admitted that she was shy around Aishwarya, awed by her beauty and poise but asserted that Anushka was easy to work with. Ranbir was “cool”.

Lisa recently announced her engagement with telecom tycoon beau, Dino Lalvani and soon after walked out of Abhishek Pathak’s Atithi In London. She has since been replaced by Kriti Kharbanda.

Kriti Kharbanda replaces Lisa Haydon in Atithi In London

Raaz Reboot debutante signed for Atithi sequel after Haydon walked out of film at the last minute

Lisa Haydon’s sudden exit from Atithi In London had left director Abhishek Pathak fuming and fidgety about finding a replacement with the film almost ready to roll. And while his legal team is at work to send a notice to The Shaukeens actress, he has zeroed in on the one-film-old Kriti Kharbanda as leading lady. Kartik Aaryan plays the hero in the sequel to the 2010 comedy, Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge.

Kriti, who debuted with Emraan Hashmi-starrer Raaz Reboot that released a fortnight ago, did a screen test for Pathak’s film last week. Says the director, “For us, it didn’t matter if she was one-film-old. We were looking a pretty girl who can act and deliver a convincing performance. After her screen test, we knew we had found our actress. She looks perfect with Kartik.”

The mahurat shot will be canned today and the shooting will begin by early next week. The story revolves around a young live-in couple (Kartik and Kriti) based in London and how they are at their wits’ end following the entry of two uninvited guests, Paresh Rawal and Tanvi Azmi into their house.

Lisa reportedly pulled out of the film following marriage plans and a livid Pathak said her exit had caused a huge financial setback since the set construction and visa work had been completed. He, however, refrains from divulging details on the losses he has suffered. “My legal team is now putting it together, so I cannot give you even an approximate figure. But, every plan, big and small, went for a toss (after Lisa walked out of the film),” he says.

We're taking legal action against Lisa Haydon-Abhishek Pathak

The newly engaged actress reportedly walked out of Abhishek Pathak’s new film ten days before it was scheduled to go on the floors

A day after news of Lisa Haydon’s engagement to her telecom tycoon beau, Dino Lalvani, surfaced we hear that the 30-year-old actress may now land in a legal tussle with the makers of Atithi In London. In the wake of the impending nuptials, Lisa who had signed on to play the female lead in the Abhishek Pathak film (Mirror, August 19) reportedly backed out ten days before the film was to go on the floors on September 24, hitting the shooting schedule for a toss. The film features Paresh Rawal and Tanvi Azmi as the atithis that Lisa and her onscreen love, Kartik Aaryan, were supposed to deal with.

“We had locked Lisa for the role, exchanged contracts and even got her visa ready. The set was ready in Filmalaya studio but we got a call from her manager ten days before the schedule that Lisa wasn’t interested in doing the film anymore. Suddenly, I hear from someone that she’s getting married which is why she can’t do our film. We had everything ready, from visas for the entire crew to locations. Now all that money is down the drain. My crew’s work permit visa is valid only for a limited period so I don’t know what to do now,” Pathak fumed, adding that Lisa made some “strange demands” initially but her backing out of the film was the final straw. “One day she told me that she couldn’t lip-sync for any of the songs. She was aware that it’s a commercial film and it would have songs but we complied, agreeing to go ahead with it.”

The filmmaker maintains that Lisa’s “unprofessionalism” has cost him dearly and that he plans to sue her. “These people come from abroad and don’t understand how people put in effort, sweat and blood to make a film. We shouldn’t be entertaining people who don’t understand the value of money that a producer puts into a film. The contract was handed over to her team long ago but they kept delaying signing it because she had other plans. Her agency had stated multiple times in mails that she was doing our film; she had sent us her passport details for the London schedule as well. We had already locked dates of senior actors like Pareshji (Paresh Rawal) and Tanviji (Tanvi Azmi), my London crew had been booked. We’re taking legal action against Lisa. Her talent management agency should take responsibility for this mess,” Pathak asserts.

Meanwhile, the London schedule of the film has been pushed forward by a week. “We are hoping to start by October 20. We are also hoping to lock a new girl soon,” Pathak signs off.

Lisa Haydon & Dino Lalvani set for a destination wedding early next year?

The actress got engaged to beau Dino Lalvani; the couple is set for a destination wedding early next year
Sanyukta Iyer (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 28, 2016)

Over a month after their scenic Grecian getaway (Mirror, August 10), telecom tycoon Dino Lalvani went down on one knee to propose to actress-girlfriend Lisa Haydon in Paris on Monday after an eight-day vacation at the Amalfi coast and Capri in Italy.

After she said ‘yes’, Lisa shared the news on the social media with two pictures of her and her 42-year-old beau— first of them at Charles De Gaule airport, and the second at London’s Heathrow airport, where Dino bade her goodbye as she headed to the Bay.

“Gonna marry him,” Lisa gushed in the caption that ended with a solitaire emoji. During her week in London, the 30-year-old actress had launched close friend Nirav Modi’s new jewellery collection with a doting Dino by her side. After that a quick countryside getaway had turned out to be a private jet ride to the Italian coast ending with the proposal.

Lisa has been dating Dino, son of Pakistan-born British entrepreneur Gullu Lalvani, for over a year. In 2008, Dino became the chairman of his father’s company, Binatone Telecom, which then netted 60 million pounds, and is headquartered in Hong Kong with offices in USA, UK, Europe and India. In March, Dino had announced that all his American operations would move to Bangalore shortly.

Lisa and Dino were first snapped cosying up on October 29 last year at UNICEF’s Halloween Ball at One Mayfair in London. Their picture perfect moment on the red carpet of the charity gala to raise funds for Syrian children set the grapevine into action. Lisa looked stunning in a purple dress with a Native American headgear while Dino was suave in a blingy blue jacket paired with a magician's hat. She acknowledged their relationship at a film award ceremony in Spain earlier this year by referring to Dino as “my boo”.

A lavish wedding in Europe is in order early next year and will be attended by Gullu, his ex-wife Vimla, Dino’s uncles, Kartar and Pratap, along with members of their extended family. Meanwhile, the bride-to-be’s besties, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri and the Housefull and Queen cast members, are expected to represent the filmi brigade. All hail this shaadi of the year!

Lisa Haydon opp Kartik Aaryan in Atithi In London?

The actress will be playing the leading lady in Abhishek Pathak's next, a modern love story set in London
Natasha Coutinho (MUMBAI MIRROR; August 19, 2016)

While rumours suggested Happy Bhag Jayegi's leading lady Diana Penty was the top contender to be cast opposite Kartik Aaryan in Abhishek Pathak's upcoming film, Atithi in London, Mirror has learnt that Lisa Haydon has been roped in for the part. The modern love story revolves around a London-based couple, with Paresh Rawal stepping as the troublesome guest.

"Kartik is surprised by a middle-aged couple who are his relatives and are in the Queen's City for some work. While Pareshji plays the male lead, talks are on with Supriya Pathakji to enact the role of his wife," Abhishek had informed Mirror earlier (July 14).

A source reveals, "Lisa plays a London girl and came on board this week. Kartik and Paresh were signed much earlier and the team was on the lookout for an Indian girl born and brought up abroad. Lisa fit the bill perfectly. Her character takes on odd jobs to make a living and afford a decent lifestyle in the expensive city. She is expected to shoot between the first week of September and mid-October in London and its outskirts. The atithi's arrival causes an upheaval in the household as the couple is already facing a cash crunch."

The film's spokesperson confirmed that she had been approached for the film.

The Housefull 3 actress recently took off to the Queen's City to spend a couple of days with her 41-year-old boyfriend before they left for Greece's Mykonos islands last Friday. South Eastern Europe seems to be their favourite destination. This is their third visit there. The 30-year-old actress shared an image of herself perched on Dino's lap on the social media, decorating it with seven emojis - shells, sun, boy, wine, chocolate, cake and hearts - to underline how she feels after a great dinner with her beau.

During the three-week holiday the love birds spent some quality time together at exotic, secluded resorts, feasted on Mediterranean cuisine and delicacies from the Balkan region in Spili and sunbathed at Alemagou beach. Lisa wore a swimsuit with 'troublemaker' emblazoned on it and posted pictures of herself goofing around in a private pool with Dino. Ahh love!
