JAB HARRY MET SEJAL had a huge crash in second week as it collected 4.25 crore nett and took its two week total to nearly 62 crore nett and there is very little to come. The fall in week two is a huge 92.50%. The film is the worst Shah Rukh Khan performer in recent history.

Even if we take the whole career then only MAYA MEMSAAB, KING UNCLE, OH DARLING YEH HAI INDIA, ONE TWO KA FOUR and YEH LAMHE JUDAAI KE come to mind as bigger flops. Also most of these are when Shah Rukh Khan was not the star he is today and the last mentioned film was a long delayed film. The collections of JAB HARRY MET SEJAL till date are as follows

MUBARAKAN grossed a fair 5.50 crore nett apprx in its third week to take its total to around 53.50 crore. There could be 2-3 crore nett more to come but that will hardly change the flop status of the film. Still on the other hand the film has held up reasonably well against the competition of JAB HARRY MET SEJAL and TOILET - EK PREM KATHA to get to this range especially considering the opening day which was hardly 5 crore nett. It has grossed eleven times the opening day and its not a niche film with a limited audience so there could be actually be appreciation among the wider audience but only the television response will confirm that.

JAB HARRY MET SEJAL had a huge drop on its eighth day as it collected just 75 lakhs nett. These sort of low numbers have not been seen for a Shah Rukh Khan film in a very long time. Even FAN managed to do over 10 crore nett in the second week which has no chance of happening here. The weekend here is probably looking around 3 crore nett and the last time a Shah Rukh Khan film had a second weekend which was so low was way back in 2005 with PAHELI. MUBARAKAN is holding up with low collections as its third Friday came at 50% less than the second Friday. Its done pretty to get here considering its very low first day and competition of big films in its second and third week but that's about it. the Overall figures remain low due to that poor initial. JAB HARRY MET SEJAL has been rejected outright and is a flop film with collections of 58 crore nett apprx in the first week. The weekend was under expectations at 44 crore nett but the film just dropped off over the weekdays and added only 14 crore nett over thw Mon-Thu period.

It has not done well in any circuit across in India with even West Bengal where Shah Rukh Khan films tend to get numbers even if the content is not there has not performed this time. East Punjab is the worst performer considering there are big multiplexes in the circuit where the film would have collected.

The fate of the film shows that a big star can't really go towards content that is not going to be liked by the wider audience. When the regular films like DILWALE and RAEES are not appreciated they under perform at the box office but are still successful. When the niche content goes wrong then the collections just drown as can be seen with FAN and now JAB HARRY MET SEJAL and even TUBELIGHT. This is because a big star brings in a much bigger opening audience initially than the films deserve and they just can't sustain at those levels. Even if the niche audience likes they would find it tough as this audience can't sustain a film at the opening levels of a Shah Rukh Khan or Salman starrer.

JAB HARRY MET SEJAL had another huge fall on Tuesday as collections came down to 3 crore nett. This is 55% lower than Monday which was a partial holiday. The total of the film so far is 53.75 crore nett and it has practically folded out with this Tuesday business.

The Tuesday number is 80% apprx down from the first day and this means if it was not a holiday for Raksha Bandhan on Monday then the film would have grossed at the best 4 crore nett allowing for the bigger fall after a holiday. The first five days collections of JAB HARRY MET SEJAL are as follows

The film will not reach 60 crore nett for the week with a more likely scenario of 57-58 crore nett and then from there 70 crore nett looks a big task. Imtiaz Ali has managed to do the unthinkable and give Shah Rukh Khan such a low grosser.

JAB HARRY MET SEJAL fell badly on its first Monday despite parts of the country being a holiday for Raksha Bandhan. These places did hold better but the fall is coming here also. In a circuit like Mysore where there was no holiday the fall was frightening and this was probably the best performing circuit over the weekend.

The total of the film in four days stands at a little above 50 crore nett and it seems the film will close the first week at around 60 crore nett depending on the fall on Tuesday. The first four days collections of JAB HARRY MET SEJAL are as follows

The film has faced rejection all over the country and it is another low after the huge disappointment of TUBELIGHT. Here this could have been seen before release as the film did not look good but to finish with collections of 70 crore nett or maybe even less is a shocker.

JAB HARRY MET SEJAL grossed 44 crore nett over its first weekend. The total is a fair number but well below expectations of a Shah Rukh Khan starrer. Its even beaten the lifetime figures of most recent films in the weekend but still its a low number and the trend is poor as day one remains the best day. This was going to be a possibility as the way the director narrates stories it is very niche. The storytelling as per his past films is very poor and then when you open at 15 crore nett it means you get a large audience which will just not relate with this type of storytelling.

The only way out was if the metros went crazy over the film then you have a shot at 125 crore nett (BARFI till date is biggest at 105 crore nett for a primarily metro film) but this did not happen. The weekend collections of JAB HARRY MET SEJAL are as follows

The business is good in the metros over the three days but even there the growth is not what it should have been over the weekend. The film has fared poorly in East Punjab despite the presence of many high end multiplexes and even West Bengal which is a Shah Rukh Khan dominated circuit has not really performed with around 2.50 crore nett. Mumbai grossed around 14 crore nett while Delhi/UP was 8.50 crore nett. Comparatively Mysore was best at 3.25 crore nett apprx.

JAB HARRY MET SEJAL had a fall in business on the second day of around 5% which pretty much seals its fate as the weekend will find it impossible to reach 50 crore nett which is too low for a Shah Rukh Khan starrer. The collections on Saturday were in the 14-14.25 crore nett range. On the other hand the film could have dropped more on Saturday as it has a limited audience. Basically it will hold around these levels over the weekend due to Shah Rukh Khan box office clout but then go down fast over the weekdays. There is a holiday for Raksha Bandhan on Monday but its very likely the film could see a noticeable drop despite the holiday.

The business is poor all over barring Mumbai, Pune, Delhi NCR and Bangalore as these places held or gained on Saturday while it dropped in most other places. The SRK stronghold Kolkata also saw a drop in collections. Mysore is performing best for the film.

It will be the first Shah Rukh Khan starrer to go below 50 crore nett for the weekend since DON 2 in 2011. This is not counting the guest role in DEAR ZINDAGI. Even a FAN managed to collect 52 crore nett plus and that film was probably a little more niche than this as was devoid of music as well.

JAB HARRY MET SEJAL had a reasonable first day as it grossed 15.50 crore nett apprx. The film has only really managed to collect in metros with collections outside the five metros coming out low. A huge chunk of the collections have come in Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bangalore, Pune and Bangalore while the rest have hardly contributed. Even Punjab where there are big multiplexes is well below the mark outside Gurgaon which is basically NCR. The performance is very much like TUBELIGHT with the opening day collections much higher than the appeal of the content and that film did not grow over the weekend and it could be same case here unless metros really push higher.

The film is the lowest Shah Rukh Khan opener of recent times as if we account for the holiday factor of FAN then the collections have come out similar to that film. Just like with Salman Khan with TUBELIGHT, these big stars can't do films which have limited reach as when it comes to numbers. You are depending on just star power and that is just a first day thing and even that will not be as it should. A RAEES crossed 20 crore nett plus with a clash even though its was a poor film because it had reach. This does not have the reach which looked likely before the release as the director has a record of films which have limited reach and appreciation. Now its about how or if the film can grow on Saturday as it will be its best chance because the film is only collecting in metros and that's a Saturday audience. Outside metros there is a good chance of drops of in many places.
