Esha Gupta backs out of fashion show at the last minute due to low remuneration?

Asira Tarannum (MID-DAY; July 17, 2014)

Esha Gupta apparently refused to walk the ramp for Shobha Shringar’s show at the on-going India International Jewellery Week in the city.

Sources state that she demanded a huge appearance fee. The actress backed out at the last-minute forcing the organisers to look for a replacement. Dia Mirza was eventually roped in. The show was at 6 pm and Esha informed the organisers about her no show just hours before.

According to a source close to designer Shobha Shringar, Esha didn’t walk the ramp because there were some issues between them. But a source from the industry reveals, "Esha wanted her remuneration on par with other actresses like Chitrangda Singh, Kalki Koechlin, Neha Dhupia and Ameesha Patel. She threw a fit and refused to be the show stopper.”

Esha however maintains, “The organisers replaced me without even informing me. I had an issue with the outfit. I had asked them to change it, but they refused. I am glad Dia Mirza did the show because they gave her a different dress to wear and she looked very pretty.” When asked about the fee issue, she says, “That was not the problem. I have even refunded the amount. I only had issues with my outfit.”

If some one proposes to me, it has to be with a bloody good diamond-Sonam Kapoor

Garima Sharma (BOMBAY TIMES; July 14, 2014)

With her taste in jewellery and all things elegant, it's not easy for a suitor to impress Sonam Kapoor. In fact, the actress says that whenever someone proposes to her, it must be with a “bloody good diamond".

After all, her mother Sunita is a jewellery designer and the fashionista has had years of exposure to beautiful baubles. That's also why she makes for the perfect brand ambassador for the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), the body that hosts the India International Jewellery Week, kick starting in the city today.

Over the years, IIJW has emerged as one of India's premier events in the gem and jewellery industry, promoting India as the leading design hub globally . The event encourages established upcoming and budding designers to showcase their immense talent, craftsmanship and innovation in the field of jewellery design.
The fifth edition of the jewellery extravaganza will see a lot more emphasis on coloured gems as well as new trends. Says Sonam, “I've been with IIJW since the very beginning and we have both grown. We are trying to promote the jewellery industry as it also benefits the artisans."
