GOLD had a decent hold on Thursday with collections being just 15% lower than Monday. So despite the film showing a heavy fall on Monday the weekday business has actually turned out pretty well with the film getting a boost from Eid and then Thursday being near the level of Monday.

The film has grossed a pretty good 88 crore nett in its extended first week and if the collections do not drop much on its second Friday, then the film will come out with a good result which looked very unlikely after that big Monday drop. After the Monday drop it was probably even touch and go whether the film can cross the 100 crore nett mark. The film is relying on the metros mainly now as that is where it has done better when we take out the holidays factor.

GOLD got a a lift from Bakri Eid as it grossed 6 crore nett on Wednesday. This has taken the eight day total of the film to 85 crore nett which is decent. The film has a trend of doing better on the holidays and tends to go low on the other days. The first day was very strong and then it did well again on Sunday and Bakri Eid.

There will be drop in collections tomorrow as it come off a holiday and remains to be seen how big this drop is as this will determine the extended first week number. The film has done best in Mumbai (except Gujarat), Delhi/UP, West Bengal and Mysore. The collections in mass circuits have got a lift over the last two days but in the second week the likes of CP, CI and Bihar will be low. Surprisingly the film has done better than SATYAMEVA JAYATE over the Eid period despite that film having more for the Muslim audience.

GOLD had a big drop on Monday as it collected 3.75-4 crore nett. The drop is 60% from Friday when the normal drop is 50%. It is the sixth day so you can allow a little bit more than the normal 50% but 60% is going a bit far. It dropped more than SATYAMEVA JAYATE as it had a higher ratio of business coming from multiplexes where ticket rates drop on Monday.

Also the film is just for metros going by the Monday figures and if the other cities recorded respectable collections over the first five days it was because of the mass pull of Akshay Kumar. The film is now basically just relying on metros barring Bakri Eid on Wednesday where other cities may get a lift. The collections after six days are 74.25 crore nett for GOLD.

GOLD had a good upturn on Tuesday as collections went up from Monday to 4.50 crore nett. This has taken the seven day total to almost 79 crore nett. The upturn  came as it is a holiday today and shows in the evenings and nigh shows jumped.

Despite the drop on Monday the film is going to helped out by Bakri Eid over the weekdays and its difficult to say where the extended week will end as a lot will depend on what sort of jump it is today for the Bakri Eid holiday. The range for the extended week is 85-90 crore nett.

The business on the second Friday will tell where the lifetime will go but an extended first week and that Monday drop will lead to a big drop in week two.

GOLD which had an excellent start on day one saw a big drop on day two but has recovered the momentum over the weekend with solid growth over the weekend. The film has grossed 70.50 crore nett over its extended weekend with Sunday going back over 15 crore nett when Thursday was just 8 crore nett.

The film has done well in places like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkatta. The mass markets are decent as its competing with SATYAMEVA JAYATE with similar collections but that's mainly due to the star power of Akshay Kumar as the film is not the type for the likes of UP, Bihar and CI.

The film needs to sustain on Monday and the film will then have a good run for a couple of weeks as multiplexes are generally doing pretty good business especially on Saturday and Sunday. The first day was a given. It can also get the advantage of Bakri Eid on Wednesday.

GOLD continued its upward momentum on Saturday after that big fall on Thursday and collected 12 crore nett. This takes the business of the film to 55 crore nett plus in four days which is decent but 45% of that business has come on day one with was the national holiday for Independence Day.

The film is doing well in Mumbai (except Gujarat), Delhi/UP, Mysore and West Bengal. East Punjab should also be in the list but there are two Punjabi films running which has taken out a chunk of the business in the circuit not just for GOLD but for SATYAMEVA JAYATE also. GOLD is now easily scoring over SATYAMEVA JAYATE in practically all the circuits in India with even Bihar being just a few lakhs less on Saturday. But more important now is how well can it sustain in the weekdays and into week two.

Sunday can really pick up if the family audiences come and if that happens it will end the extended weekend on a strong note. But if its just metro audience that is with the film then Sunday will be limited in growth as evening shows do show a drop in metros on Sunday.

It is doing best in East Punjab, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore but the next two days are crucial for a good five day tally and a good trend will be a good sign for the all important weekday business.

GOLD showed decent growth of 25% on Friday to collect 10 crore nett and take its three day numbers to 43 crore nett plus. The film has managed to jump above SATYAMEVA JAYATE in some mass circuits for the first time since release. The main plus is the film has gone up from the previous day which saw a very heavy decline in business which was actually scary but probably came as the first day it probably put up higher numbers than it should have.

If the film remained flat like SATYAMEVA JAYATE on Friday it would have been in trouble but now it goes into the weekend with potential for more growth but that remains to be seen as a part holiday could have helped on Friday. Its a decent trend and if the film could build on it then it can sustain well at the box office.

GOLD was behind SATYAMEVA JAYATE in six circuits on the first two days but now that has come down to four circuits with one circuit almost the same and GOLD could lead there on Saturday.

It is doing best in East Punjab, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore but the next two days are crucial for a good five day tally and a good trend will be a good sign for the all important weekday business.

GOLD had a heavy drop on day two of around 68% as it collected around 8 crore nett which takes its two day total to 33 crore nett apprx. The film had a 7% bigger drop than SATYAMEVA JAYATE as it had a far larger ratio of business coming from multiplexes which dropped more compared to single screens.

The film is still leading SATYAMEVA JAYATE in the all the major cities but in mass circuits it has fallen behind on day two. On day one it was behind also in some places but it was by small margins. Again like SATYAMEVA JAYATE the drop is in crash range but benefit has to be given due to the midweek release and it remains to be seen what happens over the next two days. If the film is unable to recover then it will be a crash.

It is a must for GOLD to recover well over the next few days and especially Saturday when the big cities record strong numbers. SATYAMEVA JAYATE can get away with it if it hangs around the 7-8 crore nett mark over the next few days but GOLD has to be doing double digits and Sunday has to be strong for some sort of sustenance from Monday onward.

The most important thing will be an uptrend today because if that does not come then the film will be facing tough times. The film has to start to motor ahead of SATYAMEVA JAYATE again.
