DRISHYAM grossed 1.25crore nett approx in its fifth week taking its business to close to aporx 68.25 crore nett. The weekly business till date is as follows.
Week One - 39,97,00,000

Week Five - 1,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 68,29,00,000 apprx
The film has had a fair run for five weeks (its the only film to have a sustained run sinceBAJRANGI BHAIJAAN) but due to the the dull first week the distributor share will hardly cross 31 crore.

DRISHYAM grossed 3.25 crore nett approx in its fourth week taking its business to close to 67 crore nett. The weekly business till date is as follows.
Week One - 39,97,00,000
Week Two - 16,71,00,000
Week Three - 6,96,00,000
Week Four - 3,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 66,89,00,000
The film has fared poorly outside Mumbai circuit where it may just about touch 30 crore nett but collections in North, East and South India are poor. The film will do a distributor share of 31 crore which is not much higher than what Action Jackson (30 cr) did last year. The only plus for the film is that it has not done as bad as BROTHERS thanks to the Maharashtra area. The film will finish with around 69 crore nett on a best case scenario.

Week Three - 6,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 62,93,00,000
The third week figures are the fourth best of the year ahead of successful films like ABCD 2 and GABBAR IS BACK but as opening week was low it has not fared as well as those films.

TOTAL - 2,55,00,000
The film has now grossed 59 crore nett apprx In 16 days. It will go over 60 crore nett after its third weekend.
--------------------------------
DRISHYAM grossed around 4 crore nett in its third weekend. It is a drop of around 60% from last week which is fair though the holiday in Saturday bumped up collections a bit. The first three day business of the third week of DRISHYAM is as follows.
Friday - 80,00,000
Saturday - 1,75,00,000
Sunday - 1,50,00,000

DRISHYAM grossed around 75 lakhs nett on its third Friday which is a 65% drop from last week which is good considering a big new release like BROTHERS came. The weekend can go to around 3.50 crore nett or higher as it will get the benefit of Independence Day on Saturday. The film has sustained pretty well at the box office but that low initial has cost the films chances of becoming a good success.
BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN has grossed around 35 lakhs nett on its fifth Friday. The collections are 70% plus down from last week and its run is coming to an end. Still it can get around 1.50 crore nett plus over the weekend which will take its business close to 310.5 crore nett.
The collections of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - ROGUE NATION are down heavily in week two in the 1.25 crore nett range which is a drop of 80% approx. The film will finish at around 50 crore nett in India which is not much more than the last MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE film.

DRISHYAM grossed 16.50 crore nett it its second week taking its two week total to 56.50 crore nett. The drop week on week is a little under 60% which is fair but with a poor first week it has meant the film has not done good business. It should comfortably cross 60 crore nett as despite the release of BROTHERS it has enough screen pace to add some more business.
The film is going to be best in Mumbai with business already over 22 crore nett and can finish with around 25 crore nett which means an average fare in Mumbai. But the rest of the circuits have not fared as well as Mumbai especially North with Delhi / UP doing less than 50% of Mumbai.
The second week collections are the seventh best of the year and after a low opening week, you have to be doing better in the second week. The film will be the highest Ajay Devgn grosser over the last 2-3 years outside SINGHAM RETURNS but that is no consolation.
Drishyam Verdict - BELOW AVERAGE
Drishyam goes the same way as last year's Entertainment

DRISHYAM has gone the same way as last years Akshay Kumar starrer ENTERTAINMENT. Not only is it the same release in that both DRISHYAM and ENTERTAINMENT were sandwiched between the Eid and Independence Day releases but the business will also be the same with maybe a couple of crore difference.
Entertainment also fared poorly last year as it grossed 64 crore nett. The budget of ENTERTAINMENT was higher but it did prove to be a blockbuster on television getting better ratings than KICK and DHOOM 3. DRISHYAM can't match ENTERTAINMENT on television due to the genre but it has a good price due to pre crash sale but that's only if the price holds now.
If the price holds and is not renegotiated then it will mean heavy losses for the satellite channel. If the price does not hold and it is taken at today's rates then it will the makers which will lose. Both DRISHYAM and ENTERTAINMENT are good examples of how the initial kills despite both films finding some appreciation among some sections of the audiences.

DRISHYAM had a decent weekend of 10.50 crore nett taking its business to 50.50 crore nett. The drop in the second weekend is around 57-58%. The second weekend business of DRISHYAM is as follows.
Friday - 2,25,00,000
Saturday - 3,75,00,000
Sunday - 4,50,00,000
TOTAL - 10,50,00,000
The collections are still below par though it should go over 60 crore nett if it can get decent screen time when BROTHERS releases this week. If it does then it can also benefit on the big national holiday on Saturday.
---------------------
DRISHYAM grossed 1.50 crore nett on its second Monday taking its second week total to 12 crore nett and overall business to 52 crore nett. The four day second weekend business of DRISHYAM is as follows.
Friday - 2,25,00,000
Saturday - 3,75,00,000
Sunday - 4,50,00,000
Monday - 1,50,00,000
TOTAL - 12,00,00,000
The second week will gross around 16 crore nett which is reasonable but the film is not really going anywhere and the poor initial has cost it heavily.

DRISHYAM had a low first week of around 40 crore nett. Though the film was steady on the weekdays it was not good enough to make up for the low weekend figures. The collections for week one are only as much as a film like BADLAPUR (35.96 crore nett) and that film had costs less than half of DRISHYAM.
Still all is not lost for DRISHYAM, the weekdays business do give it a chance albeit a small one. It will be crucial for the film to be around 2.50 crore nett at least which will give it a chance of 60 crore nett business depending on what it can do when BROTHERS releases next Friday.
The film will be an average fare if it can do around a 30 crore distributor share which is the similar to what ACTION JACKSON did but film cost 93 crore compared to the 62 crore for DRISHYAM. Basically if it gets a 30 crore share it will be similar result to BABY released earlier this year where a bad initial has come in the way of a film that has found appreciation among some of the audience.
----------------------------
DRISHYAM had a decent hold on day eight as it grossed 2.25 crore nett which means the collections are around a little under 60% less from day one. Its a decent trend but 60 crore nett seems a tough task from here though the jump tomorrow will tell more as the Saturday jumps have been getting bigger in the recent months.
The business after eight days is around 42.25 crore nett. Mumbai will be the best performing circuit and may reach 20 crore nett for lifetime business. North India has not performed to well and its a similar case in South and East India India. CP, CI and Rajasthan are decent.
The film did not open but has found decent appreciation and when this happens, some films get lucky and have a open field and some don't with DRISHYAM falling in the latter. If the film was not released in a crowded period the numbers would have been much higher.
----------------------------
DRISHYAM showed good growth on Saturday as collections were 50% better than the previous day. The total business of the film is now 42 crore nett. The first two day business of the second week of DRISHYAM is as follows.
Friday - 2,25,00,000
Saturday - 3,50,00,000
TOTAL - 5,75,00,000
The second weekend should comfortably top 10 crore nett which is a decent figure for second weekend collections but overall collections are still on lower side.

DRISHYAM was steady on Tuesday with collections similar to Monday. The first five day business of DRISHYAM is as follows.
Paid Previews - 50,00,000
Friday - 5,25,00,000
Saturday - 7,50,00,000
Sunday 9,50,00,000
Monday - 3,75,00,000
Tuesday - 3,50,00,000
TOTAL - 30,00,00,000
The collections are still low as it has collected only 30 crore nett in the first five days. The film is now dependent on showing an under 50% fall in week two which will be hard as there will be two new releases - BANGISTAN and MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - ROGUE NATION.

DRISHYAM held up pretty well on Monday but needed to do better. The drop is 30% from Friday but ideally the drop had to be around 10-12% due to low initial. The first four day business of DRISHYAM is as follows.
Paid Previews - 50,00,000
Friday - 5,25,00,000
Saturday - 7,50,00,000
Sunday 9,50,00,000
Monday - 3,75,00,000
TOTAL - 26,50,00,000
The film will close the week at around 35 crore nett and will need a phenomenal run in week two and week three to save it.

DRISHYAM had a low first weekend of a little under 23 crore nett. The trend over the weekend was pretty good though it really needed bigger growth. The first weekend business of Drishyam is as follows.
Paid Previews - 50,00,000
Friday - 5,25,00,000
Saturday - 7,50,00,000
Sunday 9,50,00,000
TOTAL - 22,75,00,000
The best business is in Mumbai circuit which grossed around 8 crore nett including paid previews. Monday is crucial for the film and needs a number close to to the Friday levels.

DRISHYAM had poor first day collections of around 5-5.25 crore nett. The film did have better evening collections as the morning collections suggested an even lower total. Still for a film that has released in over 2200 screens its a very poor total. The film fared relatively better in Mumbai circuit.
The collections are the lowest for an Ajay Devgn starrer for some time TEZZ in early 2012 had opened to 3.25 crore nett but since then its been a run of films that opened at around 10 crore nett with SINGHAM RETURNS going over 30 crore nett. The business of DRISHYAM in West Bengal and Bihar was awful and in many cities of the North it was second to BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN.
The film will need huge growth on Saturday and really has to get upto around 8 crore nett on Saturday which still will not be a good number but at least the trend will be there and the film can at least have a chance. Normal growth of 25-30% will not help much due to such a weak opening.
------------------------
DRISHYAM showed good growth on Saturday with collections 40% better on Saturday than Friday. The first two day business of DRISHYAM is as follows.
Paid Previews - 50,00,000
Friday - 5,25,00,000
Saturday - 7,50,00,000
TOTAL - 13,25,00,000
The film will be dependent on getting a Monday which is close to its Friday figure. This will give it a decent first week total and can build on it in week two
