DRISHYAM has gone the same way as last years Akshay Kumar starrer ENTERTAINMENT. Not only is it the same release in that both DRISHYAM and ENTERTAINMENT were sandwiched between the Eid and Independence Day releases but the business will also be the same with maybe a couple of crore difference.

Entertainment also fared poorly last year as it grossed 64 crore nett. The budget of ENTERTAINMENT was higher but it did prove to be a blockbuster on television getting better ratings than KICK and DHOOM 3. DRISHYAM can't match ENTERTAINMENT on television due to the genre but it has a good price due to pre crash sale but that's only if the price holds now.

If the price holds and is not renegotiated then it will mean heavy losses for the satellite channel. If  the price does not hold and it is taken at today's rates then it will the makers which will lose. Both DRISHYAM and ENTERTAINMENT are good examples of how the initial kills despite both films finding some appreciation among some sections of the audiences.
