POSTER BOYS has fared poorly at the box office with 11 crore nett in week one. The film opened poorly and although growth was there over the weekend it was not enough and more growth was needed due to the low starting point. The film held up on weekdays on low numbers which again was not good enough though collections were steady occupancy was low and that gives little chance for screenings in week two. Another negative was a very weak single screen release as BAADSHAHO retained the good single screens. This probably hit the film for 2-3 crore nett over the week but even that would not have altered the fate of the film. POSTER BOYS will not add much to its first week business.

DADDY was at an even lower level than POSTER BOYS as it grossed 7 crore nett apprx in week one. This was sort of expected as there is no market for films on underworld. Even the Mumbai market is not too keen on them anymore, although this film fared best in Mumbai by a distance the collections were still low.

The Hollywood horror film IT which has set the box office on fire in its domestic market did not make much of a mark at the Indian box office but has held well over the weekdays. The film did business of around 12 crore nett which actually made it the top film of the week ahead of the new Hindi releases and the holdovers. It remains to be seen how the film holds up in the second week.

POSTER BOYS continued with low collections on Tuesday as it grossed 1 crore nett. The film has not done well at the box office and will not be able to recover its low costs. The first week will close on 11 crore nett. The collections of the first five days for POSTER BOYS are as follows.

POSTER BOYS fell on Monday to record collections in the 1-1.25 crore nett range. The drop is 35-40% from Friday which is better than normal but coming off the levels it had on Friday it makes little difference that the drop is less than normal. The film needed to do around 1.75 crore nett on Monday to have a chance of being an average fare. POSTER BOYS will collect around the 11 crore nett mark in week one. The collections of the first four days for POSTER BOYS are as follows.

DADDY had little chance of survival after its weekend and has now dropped to very low levels as it grossed 65-75 lakhs nett on Monday. The first week will gross around 7 crore nett for the film. The first four day collections of DADDY is as follows.

DADDY and POSTER BOYS could not find an audience as both opened to very low collections. DADDY looks set to collect in the 1-1.25 crore nett range and even here most of the collections have come from Mumbai circuit. In most circuits the film is a complete washout as even a circuit like Delhi/UP has hardly collected 15 lakhs nett and less said about the likes of Bihar and Rajasthan the better. The collections in Mumbai circuit will be 4-5 times of Delhi/UP. These underworld films have never really worked since the first star cast one PARINDA in 1989. That film flopped badly and its pretty much been the same scenario since then barring a few low budget ones which succeeded on low costs rather than appreciation but these films still get churned out regularly in the Hindi film industry.

POSTER BOYS has collected better than DADDY but still the collections are very low as it collected in the 1.50-1.75 crore nett range. The film has a problem in terms of its look and a very television look rather than a feature film which will keep the multiplex audience away and even single screens. Sunny Deol was taking these type of numbers on opening day way back in 2001 when INDIAN and GADAR opened at 1.80 crore nett and 1.40 crore nett respectively but those films probably had more spent in actual production as well despite it being 16 years ago. The film still has an outside chance if it can grow 60-70% today but that is probably an unlikely scenario.

The Hollywood horror film IT also collected in the same range as POSTER BOYS which comparatively makes it better than the Hindi films.

POSTER BOYS showed growth of around 40% on Saturday which is decent but considering the opening film the film probably had to show a 3 crore nett figure rather than the 2.50 crore nett number it has got. The film is still just about in the running because of this growth and low costs of 26 crore including PA and it has to record a Monday number which is similar to Friday. The collections of the first two days are as follows.

DADDY showed limited growth of 20% which pretty much leaves it with no chance. On top the film is doing around 65-70% of its all India business in Mumbai circuit and Mumbai always falls more than other places over the weekdays.
