KONG: SKULL ISLAND did Average business in South but fared poorly in the Hindi markets as it grossed 18.50 crore nett in the first week. The film had potential but like GODZILLA a few years back it has not really fulfilled its potential in the Indian market. All the holdover releases found it tough as BADRINATH KI DULHANIA dominated the box office. LOGAN has managed an AVERAGE run at the box office while COMMANDO 2 is a flop and will fall well short of the 25 crore nett mark. Commando 2  - 1.50 crore nett (2nd Week) - TOTAL - 22 crore nett (Two Weeks)

Logan - 6.50 crore nett (2nd Week) - TOTAL - 30.50 crore nett (Two Weeks)

Jolly LLB 2 - 30 lakhs nett(5th Week) - TOTAL - 107 crore nett (Five Weeks)

The holdover releases have all gone down badly as two new films BADRINATH KI DULHANIA and KONG: SKULL ISLAND released. The latter has not done well with collections looking to be a little under 3 crore nett unless the Tamil and Telugu versions record higher numbers. LOGAN is the best of the holdover releases with 75 lakhs nett which takes it total to around 24.75 crore. Its a big fall for the film as is has not found the appreciation in India as it has in its domestic market. The lifetime business of the film may reach 30 crore nett in a best case scenario.

COMMANDO 2 fell flat on day eight which was expected. The film has grossed around 30 lakhs nett on its eight day and its lifetime business will not even reach 25 crore nett. The film is a FLOP

RANGOON is out of theatres and will hardly collect 5-10 lakhs this week.

COMMANDO 2 (Hindi) had a normal drop on Monday of around 50% but that is not really good enough. The total so far is 15.50 crore nett and the film is probably heading for a first week total of 21 crore nett plus. Then there will be the release of BADRINATH KI DULHANIA which will hit the business of the film badly. A 30 crore nett final result would have been at least respectable for the film but its a tough task with this Monday number. The business of COMMANDO 2 (Hindi) till date is as follows.

Hollywood release LOGAN had a decent hold on Monday dropping less than 50% from Friday. Its probably mot enough to keep the momentum going after the first week due to the competition but the week will finish at 23 crore nett plus and then remains to be seen what happens on the second Friday. COMMANDO 2 (Hindi) had a low first weekend of 13.25 crore nett as it could not grow over the weekend. These types do struggle for growth but if you want to go anywhere then from an opening of 4 crore plus you have no choice to grow as occupancy is low and potential to grow is there. If the opening is higher then you can get away with a drop on Saturday. Even today these sort of films can still work on the strength of single screens but not at 35-40% occupancy levels, they have to be liked there and record higher occupancy. The collections are just 2 crore more than the last Commando film in 2013 and the budget is much higher. The business of COMMANDO 2 (Hindi) till date is as follows.

Hollywood release LOGAN managed to score over COMMANDO 2 over the weekend but the film could have trended better over the weekend. Still the weekend numbers are decent and and if the weekdays hold it become an AVERAGE earner. The business of LOGAN in its first weekend are as follows.

COMMANDO 2 (Hindi) had so so collections on day one as it picked up a little at multiplexes in the evening. The film grossed 4 crore nett on the opening day which is not bad. Its actually good if compared to the 5 crore nett of RANGOON last week which was a much bigger film. The problem is the pick up in the evening was very limited and the film is probably 1 crore lower than it should have been to really give it a good chance at the box office. The film was always likely to find it tough going in the metros and the reports from mass centres don't really seem to be there. It will need to grow around 20-30% on both Saturday and Sunday to have a decent weekend but it remains to be seen if that can happen.

The best business for the film came in Nizam/Andhra, CP Berar and CI while it was poor in the Mumbai city, Delhi city and other metros. COMMANDO 2 also had a dubbed version in Tamil and Telugu but that fared very poorly with collections of just 5 lakhs nett.

LUV SHUV PYAR VYAR and JEENA ISI KA NAAM HAI had no collections to talk about though the latter fared better

The Hollywood release LOGAN is the first real surprise of the year as it grossed a healthy 4 crore nett apprx on day one which is higher than anyone would have expected. The collections are on par with COMMANDO 2 and it could go on to have a better weekend than the Hindi film.
