BRAHMASTRA has hit a rare £1 million in United Kingdom as it becomes the first film to hit that mark after SANJU in 2018. The film hit the £1 million mark on Monday and it should go on and finish at around £1.1 million. SANJU was released in 2018 and it has taken 4 years to get a £1 million film though 18 months were lost to the pandemic.

This £1 million mark is a huge number in United Kingdom today although many films hit this mark 15 or 20 years back. This is mainly due to loyalty cards at the major multiplex chains which gives a much lower gross per ticket than when a normal ticket is bought.

The £1 million films in United Kingdom in recent years are as follows. There are a couple of films like GOOD NEWWZ and KALANK which fell a little short of the £1 million mark.

BRAHMASTRA (Hindi) picked up almost 1.50 crore nett on its third Wednesday and took its total to 218.50 crore nett. The drops are a bit more than normal over the weekdays but that is probably as so many people watched the film on cinema day with cheap tickets.

The collections of the film will do well again on Saturday and Sunday but there could be a big drop on Friday due to the release of VIKRAM VEDHA. If that drop can be avoided then the film can have a another good week with the possibility of another double digit week but for that it needs a strong hold on Friday.

BRAHMASTRA (Hindi) did good business in week three thanks to bumped up collections on cinema day which formed almost one third of its third week collections. The film picked up a healthy 26.50 crore nett apprx in week three to take its collections to 220 crore nett apprx.

The drop from the second week is under 50% which is excellent but again it is mainly due to the cinema day on Friday. The drop will be much more this week due to the release of Vikram Vedha and fair value of week two is lower than the 26 crore nett it has put up in week two. The film is probably looking at a lifetime of 230 crore nett or close depending on where the film lands on fourth Friday.

BRAHMASTRA (Hindi) collected around 1.65 crore nett on Tuesday taking its total to over 217 crore nett and by the end of the week it should be standing at around 220 crore nett. There will be big competition this week with VIKRAM VEDHA. But BRAHMASTRA still should be able to add anywhere in the range of 10-20 crore nett. A lot will depend how VIKRAM VEDHA fares at the box office.

BRAHMASTRA has fared well across all circuits and done HIT business in all circuits be it a single screen dominated CP Berar or a multiplex heavy East Punjab but it has to be noted that the strong business has generally come from the main cities in all the circuits. The B and C cities have not performed that well be it CP Berar or East Punjab or other circuits. The film has crossed the 60 crore nett mark in Mumbai and is closing in on 50 crore nett in Delhi/UP.

BRAHMASTRA (Hindi) collected well on its third Monday with collections at little under 2 crore nett at 1.85 crore nett. The lower priced ticket rates did not help the film much on Monday as this is what the film would have collected on third Monday going by the second week numbers. The footfalls are more but not enough to give better collections

This takes the third week total to 22 crore nett plus and the film is probably heading for a 26-27 crore nett third week. The total collections of the film have hit 215 crore nett plus and its looking a 235 crore nett range finish for the film. This is taking into account that VIKRAM VEDHA gets a decent run. But if the film fails than BRAHMASTRA can do more as that has been the trend for films which succeed and others around don't.

BRAHMASTRA (Hindi) scored a very good third weekend of 20.25 crore nett weekend thanks to a big boost in collections on cinema day. The collections, however, held up very well after the huge Friday when they could have easily dropped.

The film did drop heavily on Saturday outside the metros and mini metros but they came back up on Sunday. The film is standing at 213.50 crore nett after the third weekend and could rack up good numbers on the weekdays as exhibitors experiment with lower pricing. The Hindi version now has the potential to go to 240 crore nett or even higher though a lot depend on what happens when VIKRAM VEDHA releases.

The weekdays will have rates at Rs.112 though it wont have the same affect as cinema day as that was one day and a Friday too. Here its a longer period. This pricing is the lowest it can be without falling into the higher GST slab. So if this was done on Friday the collections could have been higher for all films on that day which had problem with capacity especially Brahmastra.

BRAHMASTRA (Hindi) saw excellent collections of 5.50 crore nett on its third Saturday after the huge 8.50 crore nett on cinema day. There was fear that Saturday would take a hit as so many people watched the film on Friday due to cheaper rates. But it is basically back on its normal trajectory as far as collections are concerned.

The film has taken a hit on Saturday outside the bigger centres as collections there have fallen a lot but that is mainly due to the fact that these places did so well on Friday as they got an extra audience due to lower rates. The ratio of business coming from the national chains is huge on Saturday at over 70% which it has never been and today it will need good collections outside these national chains for growth.

Even if the growth does not come on Sunday it will still be a very good third weekend of 19.50 crore nett. The film now stands at 207 crore nett and should be around 213 crore nett after its third weekend. The collections.

BRAHMASTRA (Hindi) had a huge third Friday as it collected 8.50 crore nett apprx due to cinema day and this is the second highest third Friday of all time after BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION for a film in Hindi. The film racked up almost 14 lakh admissions which is just 20-25% less than its first day admissions.

This now takes the film over the 200 crore nett mark and is the first original Hindi film to go over the 200 crore nett mark post pandemic fair and square. Yes there was THE KASHMIR FILES but over the first 2-3 weeks that film had so many paid and sponsored shows with sometimes whole screens being booked out and this was at a level never seen before in the history of Hindi cinema. Here, the box office is totally organic and has collected like most films do it.

The cinema day has been a huge success for exhibitors with huge occupancy and popcorn running out at places across the country and for the public and for BRAHMASTRA which would have never got this number on the third Friday. However, it must get 21-22 crore nett over the week as that is how much it would have got if cinema day did not happen.

For the industry itself there is more work to be done as this is not viable in the long run and there has to be longer testing periods which will be eminent as a balance has to be formed between occupancy and collections. For the bigger films this just cant work as it does not allow the collections they need to come. The main issue is high priced concessions and it is going to be very difficult to find correct pricing as some films will only collect at Rs. 75 while others can easily even collect at Rs. 300. There is the story that this has shut up the boycott bandwagon but that was pretty much nothing and irrelevant anyway and became an excuse for bad films.
