BADLAPUR had fair business in its second weekend grossing around 6 crore nett approx. The growth over the weekend could have been better but it this was probably because the film was mainly collecting at multiplexes in week two and DUM LAGA KE HAISHA gave the film competition.
The film has taken its collections to 42 crore nett in two weeks and should make it to 50 crore nett or at least end up very close. Surprisingly the film has made a mark on the basis of its opening rather than the sustained run which these types normally do when they succeed. This is probably due to growing following of Varun Dhawan.
The second weeknd saw Mumbai circuit drop. It is Gujarat which sustains best in the circuit but that was the weakest area for BADLAPUR in Mumbai which was driven by Mumbai city and Pune. North however held up better with both Delhi/UP and East Punjab showing smaller drops compared to Mumbai.

The business of BABY till date is as follows.
Week One - 51,94,00,000
Week Two 18,86,00,000
Week Three - 6,76,00,000
Fourth Week - 2,79,00,000
Fifth Week - 1,00,00,000
Sixth Weeeknd - 20,00,000
TOTAL - 82,17,00,000
The film has had a decent run at the box office as not many films reach the sixth week but the first week business cost the film badly and cemented its fate.

BADLAPUR did well in its first weekend grossing around 23.50 crore nett. The film fared best in Maharashtra due to the regional flavour of the film. Mumbai circuit grossed 9 crore nett approx over the weekend and that too with Gujarat not being too strong. The first weekend business of BADLAPUR is as follows.
Friday - 7,00,00,000
Saturday - 8,50,00,000
Sunday - 8,00,00,000
TOTAL - 23,50,00,000

BABY has grossed close to 81 crore nett till the end of its fifth weekend. The business of BABY till date is as follows.
Week One - 51,94,00,000
Week Two 18,86,00,000
Week Three - 6,76,00,000
Fourth Week - 2,79,00,000
Fifth Weekend - 60,00,000
TOTAL - 80,95,00,000
The distributor share is 38 crore which is not much better than Akshay Kumar films released years back like WELCOME, SINGH IS KING and HOUSEFULL.

ROY had a decent weekend grossing 24.75 crore nett if we take into account that it was hit badly on Sunday by the cricket match between India and Pakistan. The film grossed 9.25 crore nett on Friday, 10 crore nett on Saturday and 5.50 crore nett on Sunday.
But the trend is really not there for the film as real values for the film are 9.25, 8.50 and 10 for the first three days if we take out Valentines Day and match factor. If the film had a good trend over the weekend then it would have recovered most of the amount lost due to the match over the week but it may be difficult now.

BABY is closing in on the 80 crore nett mark with business of 79 crore nett till date. The daily third week daily The business of BABY till date is as follows.
Week One - 51,94,00,000
Week Two - 18,86,00,000
Week Three - 6,76,00,000
Fourth Weekend - 1,50,00,000 (approx)
TOTAL - 79,06,00,000
The film has grossed 28.64 crore nett in Mumbai, 15.52 crore nett in Delhi/UP and 7.64 crore nett in East Punjab till date. Other circuits with fair contribution are Mysore and West Bengal with 5.57 crore nett and 3.83 crore nett respectively. Both circuits being all time high for Akshay Kumar starrers.

SHAMITABH recorded poor first week figures of 18 crore nett in Week 1. The film has a huge reduction of shows in week two and so it will not add much more to its first week total. These sort of films are never likely to get an initial and so its about holding on weekdays. But here the weekday collections fell fast.
The film had reasonable figures in South India over the weekend especially Tamil Nadu/Kerala and Mysore but even these had low figures on the weekday. Tamil Nadu/Kerala had a poor trend over the weekend so falls were always likely but Mysore at least should have done better.
The collections in the Northern and Central belts are a disaster. When Delhi NCR and Punjab do not perform for multiplex films the writing is on the wall.
------------------------------------
BABY grossed 7.50 crore nett in its third week taking its three week total to 77.50 crore nett. The fall in the third week was less than the fall in the second week and the film will finish with lifetime business of 80 crore nett.
The film is the highest grosser ever for a Akshay Kumar starrer in West Bengal and Mysore with collections of 4 crore nett and 5.75 crore nett respectively after three weeks. These two circuits are reasonable but others are low.
Mumbai is struggling to reach 30 crore nett when a HOLIDAY - A SOLDIER IS NEVER OFF DUTY crossed 40 crore nett. Delhi/UP will gross 16.50 crore nett in its lifetime run while HOLIDAY - A SOLDIER IS NEVER OFF DUTY was 24 crore nett. The collections in CP, CI, Rajasthan are worst with none of these circuits even crossing 4 crore nett.

Friday - 3,50,00,000
Saturday 4,25,00,000
Sunday - 5,00,00,000

Sunday - 2,00,00,000

BABYshould now finish at around 80 crore nett which is a bit better than it looked last week. However a 37-38 crore share is not a good result for the film.

SHAMITABH showed growth of 20% plus on Saturday as Mumbai, Delhi,
Punjab and Mysore saw some decent growth. Mysore which had decent start
managed to grow but Tamil Nadu /Kerala and Nizam /Andhra which had
fair start dropped on Saturday. The film had to be around 5 crore nett
on Saturday if it was to have a chance at the box office. The first two

BABY had a good hold at the start of the third week as it grossed around 1 crore nett which is a little over 50% drop from last Friday. The second Friday had seen a fall of over 70%. The film can do a third weekend of around 4.75-5 crore nett or even more depending on the growth.
This sort of drop in the second weekend would have made a huge difference for the film but a good hold in week three is a little late in the day as it has collected less than 70 crore nett in two weeks.

The best circuits remain Mumbai and Mysore with Mumbai being around 25 crore nett in two weeks and in Mysore its heading to be the biggest Akshay Kumar grosser ever with likely business to end around 5.50 crore nett.

Baby vs Entertainment: First Week Comparison

BABY grossed 2 crore nett more than Akshay Kumar's last starrer ENTERTAINMENT in week one. Baby grossed 52 crore nett and ENTERTAINMENT had grossed 50 crore nett in week one. But if we consider that BABY had a huge national holiday in its first week, then in real terms the collections of ENTERTAINMENT are better.
The lead for BABY is mainly due to better collections in Mumbai city, Pune, Bangalore and Kolkata and these are the places where ENTERTAINMENT had poor collections.
ENTERTAINMENT led in the mass pockets especially CI where the film actually did well. Below are the first week figures of Baby and ENTERTAINMENT in each circuit of India.
| Baby v Entertainment First Week Comparison | ||

BABY grossed 2 crore nett approx on its eighth day which is a poor
collection. The drop is around 75% from day one which is pretty decent
in terms of business trends. The problem with BABY being the start was
low so that sort of fall from its start is not the result it needed.
There will be a good jump as the new releases have proved to be duds and are unlikely to make any headway at the box office which leaves BABY to make the best out of Saturday and Sunday.
The weekend can to 8 crore nett or even a little higher due to the likely growth it will see but its still a low figure for the second weekend.

BABY did below average business of 53 crore nett in week one and even this below average business came mainly as two circuits had a fair performance, Mumbai and Mysore being okay but the rest of the country did not perform.
The mass circuits like Rajasthan and CI were dull, for an Akshay Kumar starrer. In fact, they can be called a disaster as collections were in the range of smaller films like RAGINI MMS 2, YAARIYAN and MARY KOM. Mumbai circuit and Mysore had fair figures of 18.50 crore nett and 3.50 crore nett approx.
In Mysore the collections are the highest week one collections for an Akshay Kumar starrer in week one but when its a big film you don't want Mysore leading as it behaves differently most of the time from the more important higher contributing areas. North India where the action/thrillers especially the ones for multiplexes do well has not performed at all.
---------------------
DOLLY KI DOLI did poor business in week one of around 13 crore nett. The film was a little better in Delhi and East Punjab but even these circuits were poor. The other major collecting area Mumbai did not perform at all.
A similar film like KHOOBSURAT released last September was not much better in week one as it grossed 16 crore nett but that film had a better hold and went on to do lifetime business of 25.25 crore nett apprx. Here with DOLLY KI DOLI, a 20 crore nett final total looks impossible as occupancies were very low after the four day holiday weekend.

The film has probably been hit by the competition from BABY for 2.5-3 crore nett for the first week but that would not really have made much difference to the final outcome.

BABY grossed 4.75 crore nett on Tuesday which is okay considering Friday was 7.75 crore nett but basically the film had to hold stronger. Also the hold is coming mainly from Mumbai and Mysore while most other circuits are down which is not that good for long term. The five day business is 45.25 crore nett.
The film had decent word of mouth but only in the metros and these areas showed good growth in the holiday period. The other areas with weak word of mouth started low and just did not perform. The surprise is Gujarat which is the only mass area to perform and has grossed around 6 crore nett in five days.
------------------------
DOLLY KI DOLI grossed around 1 crore nett on Tuesday. Its not a bad total compared to day one but is low. The first five day collections are as follows.
Friday - 1,75,00,000
Saturday - 2,35,00,000
Sunday - 3,00,00,000
Monday - 2,50,00,000
Tuesday - 1,00,00,000
TOTAL - 10,60,00,000

BABY grossed 11.50 crore nett on Monday which was a holiday due to Republic Day. The total so far is 40.50 crore nett. The film held best in Delhi/UP on Monday with collections same as Sunday. The first four day collections are as follows.
Friday - 7,75,00,000
Saturday - 9,00,00,000
Sunday - 12,50,00,000
Monday - 11,50,00,000
TOTAL - 40,50,00,000

DOLLY KI DOLI got advantage of the holiday on Monday and collections were good but considering the start, it needed Monday to be its best day. The first four day collections are as follows.
Friday - 1,75,00,000
Saturday - 2,35,00,000
Sunday - 3,00,00,000
Monday - 2,50,00,000

BABY had a decent Sunday as it grossed 12.50 crore nett taking its
weekend total to 29 crore nett. The trend over the weekend is decent but
the weekend total is low especially for film with a high cost. The
weekend collections are as follows.
Friday - 7,75,00,000
Saturday - 9,00,00,000
Sunday - 12,50,00,000
TOTAL - 29,00,00,000
The best business has come in Mumbai and East Punjab circuits while Rajasthan, CP Berar, CI and Bihar are dull. The collections will be good on Monday due to a holiday for Republic Day but the film will have to hols very strong thereafter if it is to do decent or better business.Friday - 7,75,00,000
Saturday - 9,00,00,000
Sunday - 12,50,00,000
TOTAL - 29,00,00,000
----------------------------
DOLLY KI DOLI started very poorly but has picked up on Saturday and Sunday but as starting point was so low the total collections remain low. The weekend collections are as follows.
Friday - 1,75,00,000
Saturday - 2,35,00,000
Sunday - 3,00,00,000
TOTAL - 7,10,00,000
The film was best in Delhi NCR and East Punjab while places like CP Berar, West Bengal and Nizam Andhra were very dull. The film will need a strong Tuesday close to its opening day figure and then maintain at those levels to the end of the week which should give it enough showcasing in week two to put up a respectable lifetime total.
A solo release could have give a 30-40% better opening day and if it had this sort of growth from there it would have been a different story for the film.

BABY grossed 7.75 crore nett on day one which is a low total. The film opened slowly at 20-25% and went to around 50% in the evening but the jump was limited to metros like Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Bangalore.
The film will have to show major growth on Saturday and Sunday and then the big holiday on Monday can also help. A minimum 50 crore nett total of the extended weekend was a must but here it looks like that is out of range unless the growth is phenomenal.
The promos gave it a niche feel especially considering the film is an action/thriller type and that has done the damage. HOLIDAY - A SOLIDER IS NEVER OFF DUTY was a similar type of film but the growth of business there was at multiplexes across the board and single screens started at a much higher level. Here key cities like Jaipur, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Indore, etc have just not performed. The best business has come in Mumbai, NCR and South.
----------------------------
DOLLY KI DOLI had a poor first day as it grossed around 1.75 crore nett on day one. The collections of KHOOBSURAT were 30% more as that film grossed 2.25 crore nett more.
The film was always going to suffer due to the clash with BABY and although BABY has not done well initially it would have still taken a 20-30% audience away from DOLLY KI DOLI. The film has fared a bit better in the Delhi NCR belt but even here collections are very low. The central belt and East are extremely dull.
The film should grow on Saturday but even if it outperforms and grows 40-50% on Saturday it will reach 2.50 crore nett which could have been the first day collection if it was solo release..
