It's not easy to marry someone who comes from this family-Arpita Khan

Priya Gupta (BOMBAY TIMES; February 14, 2015)

Aayush Sharma, 24, and Arpita Khan, 26, may come from different backgrounds, but both belong to families that are affluent and well known. While Arpita is more emotional, sensitive, straightforward and outgoing, Aayush is more reserved and diplomatic and while both have strong likes and dislikes and are strong-headed and opinionated, Arpita is more forgiving than he is. Both think that they are difficult to live with and emotionally dominating, but they are finally best buddies who give into each other. While Arpita makes the choice on holidays and food, Aayush gets to decide on the movies they watch. They feel blessed with all the love and attention they got during their wedding and are currently enjoying their honeymoon period. They have travelled to London, New York, Dubai and now Maldives, but their most special outing remains with Salman Khan in Mandawa, where they spent a week with him. While much is known about Arpita due to her superstar brother Salman Khan, not much is known about the reserved boy Aayush, who is equally affluent as her and comes from Mandi's first political family. We bring you excerpts from their first ever interview post marriage.

CONVERSATION WITH ARPITA KHAN SHARMA:

What made you cry at your wed ding during your speech?
For me, it was very emotional obviously. I was moving into another family, but at the same time, my family is my family. When I saw my brothers and my father crying all around me, then there was nothing that I could do. While I could see them all crying, everybody was looking down as no one wanted to have eye contact with anyone else. I didn't want to cry, which is why I didn't do a bidai ceremony, but kept it to a modern wedding.

How does it now feel to manage your own house?
Not very stressful as I used to manage my mother's house for the longest time. Today, my mother manages more or less my house, so, there is a lot of give and take between us and there is no your house or my house. I have a great back-up system so I have nothing to worry about.

Any memories from the marriage?
During my wedding from the pheras to the party, we had another venue, but it started raining. Everyone said it was auspicious, though at that time it didn't seem very auspicious for me as my whole venue had to change. But it was with all the blessings we got.

When did you and Aayush meet?
We met through a common friend and then lost touch in the middle and then again met about two years ago and then started dating.

What do you like the most about him?
He is a very chilled out and sorted person and just lets me be who I am. He is simple to be with. I am a very difficult person to be with as I am not a normal conventional person. I am very strict and stuck to my ways. I am very family-oriented and for me, it is important that everybody has to respect my family.

Who is your biggest support?
My dad is my backbone, Salman bhai's the person who makes me believe that I can walk over this world and nothing can happen to me. Sohail bhai is my protector and my friendly brother. My mum, who has gone through too much, but who always smiled for us to go through anything. And Aayush, the person who has taken on this kind of pressure in marrying me. It's not easy to marry someone who comes from this family.

Were you both overwhelmed with all the attention and love you got during your wedding?
It was quite shocking and overwhelming and you didn't know whether it was intrusive or nice. We belong to a society where a section of people are our well wishers and there is a bunch that is jealous. We also are human beings who feel hurt when people say nasty things on social media. They are comments not called for and I wish people just live and let live and don't keep judging you. My family being filmi are more well known and have a larger than-life image, but without knowing about the other person's background, don't say nasty things. They would say things like, 'Oh, he is married to her because of this or that.' How do you know? May be I have married him for another reason? I don't approve of it and find it disgusting and hurting that you take a dig at somebody, not knowing where they come from. You put up a picture of a holiday and someone says, 'Oh, you are living off her.' That's so regressive and uncool. They forget that he comes from an affluent family, just that they are in politics and not in films. If pictures of where we are travelling, what jewellery we have, what cars is bothering you, don't look at us or follow us, but why comment? Don't look at our blessings as something wrong. They will ask Aayush on Twitter how much money he makes. Well, he is not going to file his income tax returns on Instagram, right?

Why do you follow people to discredit the relationship and abuse and assume that we are so stupid that we have allowed us to make such an ass out of us. I follow Beyonce and am really fond of her and one day I noticed that she too gets bad comments and that made me feel good. Coming from where she does, given that she has achieved so much, there were people who were nobodies still finding fault in her. It's really not needed.

Since Aayush is still training for his Bollywood debut, who runs your house financially?
My father-in-law supports us and he has given us a budget to run our house in. It is so sweet of him to support us and for even having allowed Aayush to have got married at 24 despite him not being settled yet. We have had everything easy on a platter, but he wants Aayush to make it big in his life and not become complacent, so, he has put some restrictions on us. Again, I am very spoilt and have been brought up a certain way and if I don't think it is right to ask my husband for something, I can get it from own money or can get it from Salman bhai. Aayush and me don't look at things as his or mine. It's ours.

CONVERSATION WITH AAYUSH SHARMA:

Talk about your political background.
My grandfather Pandit Sukh Ram was a veteran in Congress and represented Himachal Pradesh from a time when it was not even an influential state. The people of Mandi have loved us so much that past 50 years, we have never lost an election there. My grandfather was the man who got cellphones to India. My father Anil Sharma too is a politician and is currently the Cabinet Minister in Himachal Pradesh for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Animal Husbandry. Our family conversations have always been about politics. I have grown up with dos and dont's in public and how to behave in your constituency. We have always been taught that in politics there are no friends and so my family is very reserved. They may not interact with media as much, but they are very conscious of what people think of them. It's easier for me to walk in Mumbai as no one knows me here, but in Mandi, they all know us.

What made you choose Bollywood over politics?
I have always felt that politics is a thankless job. I won't say that I will never join politics, but not for now at least. When I first told my parents that I wanted to become an actor, they did not take me seriously. They felt it was just a phase that would pass. But then after completing my Class XII from DPS RK Puram in Delhi, I moved to Mumbai alone to do my graduation at Jai Hind and had decided that I wanted to become an actor. I wanted to move out at a certain age to learn and handle things myself. And while my parents knew that it would be much easier for me to join politics over wanting to become an actor as no one from my family had done that, they were always supportive towards me. My father doesn't say much, but he has always been there for me. He has never discredited me for choosing this profession or put a time frame for me to be successful. He always says, 'Take your time and learn whatever you can.' He has not made me very comfortable as he does not want me to become complacent, but is still my biggest security.

How different is Bollywood from politics?
People are always judging in both as both are public personalities. They both have power, name, fame and people's admiration and responsibility towards society. The difference is that while in films, you can have friends, in politics, there are no friends.

What do you like the most about Arpita?
She has her opinions and is strong-headed and is not a typical Indian girl and that is good for me. She knows so much about the world and she is my backbone. I love that she is crazy and is more like a guy. She is very caring and that is something she shares with Salman bhai. She is fine and likes to pretend that she is difficult, which she is not. She is selfless and that is very important as I am very selfish. I am a very difficult person to be with. I am very impatient. If I want to do something, I want to do it. I tend to get bratty with her as she pampers me. I was leading a complete bachelor's life before her, where nothing was organised. I can't talk to my father about movies, but with Arpita I can talk about anything. We love each other because we are friends. I sometimes even call her bro. It's like sitting with a guy friend and not being judged. She is also very overtly-protective about me.

Do you have a favourite member in her family?
I have a different equation with each of them, but I have spent a lot of time with Sohail bhai as we used to go to the same gym and I have known him even before I knew Arpita.

Any special memory for you from your wedding celebrations?
What was most special was when they finally announced that she was officially Mrs Sharma

Salman Khan makes Sonakshi Sinha sob at Arpita Khan's reception?

Salman makes Sonakshi sob
The actress extended an olive branch to the star at his sister Arpita's wedding reception but what followed left her in tears
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 27, 2014)

When the film industry gets together for a celebration, headline grabbing shenanigans often ensue. Arpita Khan's wedding reception on Friday was no exception.

While merrymakers rejoiced around her, Sonakshi Sinha was seen sobbing, after a loud argument with Salman Khan. Even though the music was loud and the party was overflowing with invitees, the scene did not escape the notice of several guests.

It all began when Sonakshi went up to Salman and clicked a selfie with him. While she quickly uploaded the picture on Instagram to tell the janata that all was well between Salman and her (she titled it: Somethings Never Change), little did she know that she will soon be sobbing in a corner.

Sources who witnessed the episode told Mirror that Sonakshi started a conversation that angered Salman, who started a loud argument. Within a minute, an emotional Sonakshi started crying.

Despite her best efforts, Sonakshi could not stop her tears from flowing, but Salman refused to calm down. While it is still not known what provoked Salman in the first place but he was overheard telling Sonakshi in a loud voice: "Maine aisa kabhi nahin bola."

Those within earshot, including Daisy Shah and Nikitin Dheer, were shocked. But better sense prevailed when producer Ashvini Yardi, a common friend of Sonakshi and Salman, ran in and intervened.

A source from the party says, "Yardi asked Sonakshi to stop crying. And then, she took the two of them aside and told them that they should dance together."

They danced for a minute or two as Yardi watched and then continued the conversation after moving into the adjoining hall, which too was teeming with guests.

This incident is just the latest chink in the fraught equation between Salman and Sonakshi. Salman gave a break to Sonakshi in Dabangg and worked with her again in Dabangg 2. Eventually, the actress grew so close to Salman's family that she was a part of most functions in the Khan household, including their festivals and the parties they threw.

However, according to sources, the relationship hit a rough patch when Sonakshi reportedly turned down the Arbaaz Khan production Dolly Ki Doli, being directed by debutant Abhishek Dogra. Sonam Kapoor is now essaying that role.

And then there were reports that Sooraj Barjatya wanted to cast Sonakshi in his upcoming film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo but Salman requested the Hum Aapke Hain Kaun maker to reconsider his decision. Incidentally, this part too later went to Sonam.

Will this latest tearjerker improve or worsen the situation? A source close to Salman says, "All has not been well between Sonakshi and Salman for quite some time now. Let's see if he accepts her olive branch."

"We are hot headed guys": Shah Rukh Khan talks about the patch up with Salman

DNA (November 25, 2014)

Enlarge ImageSalman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan who had fallen out over six years ago, have patched up in style. SRK dropped by at Salman’s place to bless sister Arpita Khan and bonded with the whole family including the Kick actor. Not just that, when the duo stepped out of Galaxy, they were seen chatting and hugging each other and their age old fight had been done and dusted. At a recent event, Shah Rukh Khan spoke about their patch up.

“Not with arrogance but with utmost humility I say that Salman and me have had many moments of happiness in our lives and very few moments of sorrow but one thing which I can assure is that we will always be there for each other in life to share each other’s moments of happiness and despair,” SRK clarified when asked about the reported patch up.

Shah Rukh also attended Arpita’s wedding reception two days ago and behaved just like a family member would have — from greeting guests to helping elders and even dancing and engaging in a funny banter with Salman.

SRK elaborated, “When Salman and I meet personally, our relationship is same as what it was 25 years back. There is no bad blood. From the outside, we are Pathans and hot headed guys and can have issues at times but nothing more to that. Arpita is close to me too. I have seen her grow in front of eyes so the essence here was that our sister was getting married and we had to be there”

Shah Rukh Khan dances non-stop for over an hour at Arpita's wedding reception?

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 24, 2014)

Shah Rukh Khan stole the lime light at Salman Khan's sister Arpita's wedding reception last Friday. The actor couldn't make it to the November 18 wedding in Hyderabad, but he made his presence felt at the Mumbai five-star hotel. He arrived at 2 am and immediately dragged the bride to the dance floor. Her husband Aayush joined them and then the couple moved away. But SRK danced non-stop for over an hour, much to the excitement of the DJ who played everything from Baazigar's Kali kali aankhen and Chennai Express's Lungi Dance to Happy New Year's Indiaawale. The other guests were left speechless by this spontaneous performance with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai's Mujko kya hua hai getting the loudest cheers and even getting some oldies to the dance floor.

Hrithik arrived a few minutes before Shah Rukh, but didn't dance for too long even though he was greeted by his Bang Bang title track. After that, his other chartbusters, including Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara's Senorita, played on a loop.

Ajay Devgn was in no mood to display his Elvis keeda. He headed straight to the bar and then the smoking zone. However, his Action Jackson co-star Sonakshi Sinha shook a leg, but dad Shatrughan Sinha retired to a corner to pow-wow with the bride's father Salim Khan. They were joined by Asha Parekh and Waheeda Rehman, the latter having lots to say to Helen too. Salman's Partner, Govinda, was at his chirpy best. He had a long conversation with director friend David Dhawan, thereby putting an end to speculation about differences between the two.

Seeing SRK bristling with such energy, Arbaaz and Sohail joined the dance floor, followed by Pulkit Samrat (with wife and Salman's rakhi sister Shweta) and Dolly Ki Doli director Abhishek Dogra. And, Rajkummar Rao and his girlfriend Patralekha did not lag behind either. Dia Mirza made an appearance with hubby Sahil Sangha. The recently wed couple looked like a poster for a happy marriage.

Having let his hair down, Shah Rukh stopped for a sip of water. But Huma Qureshi and brother Saqib dragged him back to the floor. And it was Kali kali aankhen again. The party wound up at around 6 am. Everyone was in high spirits, Zayed Khan a bit more than others.

Photographers receive invitation for Arpita Khan's reception; lift ban on Salman Khan

The wedding reception of Salman Khan’s sister Arpita and Aayush Sharma brought an end to the bitter clash between photographers and the Dabangg Khan. The lensmen were present in full force at Taj Lands End, where the reception was held on Friday.

Not only did they click the celeb guests who arrived for the celebration, but also Salman who hosted it. Says Rajneesh Kakade, Secretary, Bombay News Photographers’ Association (BNPA), “The photographers got an invitation from Salman for the reception and we thought it was a good way to come together and lift the ban. It meant that Salman has no problem with us. We thought the actor had a problem with us because of the way his bodyguards behaved with us and consequently enforced the ban. But this gesture from Salman spoke otherwise. We also have no personal egos. A marriage reception is an auspicious occasion and our best wishes are with the couple.”

It was at the launch party of the song Devil from the film Kick, in July, that a fight had ensued between the photographers and Salman’s security guards. The cameramen wanted Salman to pose at a particular spot, which the star refused to do. It was then that the star’s bodyguards and the lensmen got into a scufflewith the former supposedly manhandling them. Soon after the photographers issued a ban on the Kick actor and refused to shoot his pictures.

Now that the standoff has ended, Rajneesh says, “Ek baar shoot kar liya toh ab hamesha karenge.”

Love your in-laws as much as you have loved your parents-Salim Khan to Arpita

Priya Gupta (BOMBAY TIMES; November 23, 2014)

My respect for Salim Khan sahably goes up every time I meet him. He is a great head of the family. He is not only an extremely responsible man, who loves all his children equally, but he knows how to keep them grounded, has taught them humanity and above all, knows how to keep them together as a family. Such is the goodwill and the love he and his family have within the film fraternity that almost every film person, who was in town, turned up to give Arpita and Aayush their blessings at their reception held at a Bandra five star hotel on November 21. Excerpts from a conversation with Salim sahab on her reception night:

Salim sahab, Arpita was your youngest child who lived with you. Your feelings after her getting married?
It feels like a vacuum. Kya aap kabhi bhi apni sabse chhoti ungli ki tareef karte ho kisi se? (Do you ever praise your smallest finger to anyone?) Do you ever thank God for giving your smallest finger? No. We don't even pay attention to it. But for some reason, due to an accident or otherwise, if God took away that finger of yours, you realise its value and utility. It's only when it is not there that you realise that you needed that finger in every work of your life. But it's a catch-22 situation. You feel the pain when your daughter is getting married as you want her to be with you forever, but at the same time, you also want her to get married, have her own family and kids.

Did you cry on her bidaai?
When you bring up a child, especially a daughter, for so many years and when she leaves your house, you feel so emotional that it is natural for you to start crying. The same thing happened to me when Alvira had got married. It had to happen with Arpita too.

Your feelings for her at this point?
You feel anxiety. You wonder how she will manage her house, she has to prove herself as a good wife. I also know that she is on her own and will have her own experiences and challenges. She also saw her father's marriage that stayed for 50 years and she would be thinking of how she too, can keep her marriage for 50 years. But I have met her in-laws and woh achche and simple log hain. She is blessed to have them.

Your advice to Arpita?
Love and respect your in-laws as much as you have loved and respected your own family and parents. There should not be any distinction in that.

Did Mr Narendra Modi accept your invitation to attend Arpita's wedding and reception?
I know Mr Modi much before he became the Prime Minister and we have a lot of respect for each other. Salman had gone to personally invite him and I had also spoken to him to invite him. Woh mera farz hai. He had said that he would try his best. But I know that he has just taken the responsibility of the country in his hands and there is a lot that he needs to attend to. He returned from Australia only on November 20 and the function was on November 21, so he must have had so much to attend to. But it is my duty and my farz to invite him for all our family functions and I will always do.

Images: Star-studded wedding reception of Arpita Khan in Mumbai

MUMBAI MIRROR (November 22, 2014)

After making headlines with a nawabi wedding in Hyderabad's Falaknuma Palace, Arpita, husband Aayush Sharma, her entire Khandaan and the Sharmas headed to a Bandra five-star hotel for the final leg of the celebrations--the reception.

Interestingly, it was not the beaming newlyweds who were the first to arrive at the venue. Farhan Akhtar and his director sister Zoya were the early birds.

The bride's family was not far behind so the siblings weren't lonely for too long. Salman, Sohail and Arbaaz, the bride's brothers, quickly followed, escorting the beaming couple inside. They stopped for a few minutes en route to pose for a picture.

Salman's Partner, Govinda, who is usually the last on the scene, surprised everyone by driving in next. When Dilip Kumar arrived with Saira Banu, Salman himself rushed to usher them in.

Till the time of going to press, Mukesh and Nita Ambani and Riteish Deshmukh and a heavily pregant Genelia D'Souza had joined the celebrations.

Salman Khan introduces Iulia Vantur as 'my girl' at Arpita's wedding?

Meet my girl
Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 21, 2014)

After Sangeeta Bijlani, Somy Ali, Aishwarya Rai and Katrina Kaif, Salman Khan is once again introducing a lady as his "girlfriend". At his sister Arpita Khan's wedding in Hyderabad, no one was left in doubt about the fact that Salman Khan and Iulia Vantur are a couple.

Says a source present at the wedding, "Salman and Iulia were always together. There have been rumours linking him to Jacqueline Fernandez and Daisy Shah, but the fact is that Salman is in love with Iulia. She is very comfortable with his family too."

Back in Mumbai, Iulia is staying in a 5-star hotel in Bandra, which is a stone's throw from Salman's apartment. "And Salman is paying the bills," added the source.

The actor has always had a firang fixation, going by his proximity to German model Claudia Ciesla, British model Lisa Lazarus, Swede-Greek actress Elli Avram and London-bred Katrina Kaif. He met Iulia in 2011 when he was shooting Ek Tha Tiger in Dublin. She was then dating musician Marius Moga who helped Salman get the rights of a Romanian song which was adapted by Himesh Reshammiya as Teri meri in Bodyguard. In 2012, Iulia and Marius parted ways.

Buzz is, Arpita wasn't happy about her bhai's closeness to the Romanian beauty who she felt was using him as a ticket to Bollywood. Iulia did make an appearance in an item number in Atul Agnihotri's O Teri. For now, Sallu is telling people, "Yeh Meri."

Sonakshi Sinha not invited to Arpita Khan's wedding due to Arjun Kapoor?

Sonakshi Sinha and Arjun Kapoor
Asira Tarannum (MID-DAY; November 21, 2014)

Sonakshi Sinha, who was launched by Salman Khan in Dabangg, was conspicuous by her absence at Arpita’s wedding in Hyderabad. If sources are to be believed, it was a deliberate attempt by the Khans to skip an invitation to her and her Tevar co-star, Arjun Kapoor. “Before he became an actor, Arjun was in a relationship with Arpita. So, he wouldn’t have been invited. And with rumours about Sona dating him, her name was also struck off the guest list,” says a source. Some time ago, Sonakshi was reported to have fallen out of favour with Salman. However, dismissing the rumours, Sona was seen at the Khan family’s Diwali bash last month.

ARPITA'S EMOTIONAL SPEECH AT HER WEDDING

The young bride wrote down a little speech for her family and wanted to go up on stage and read it out to them. But she got so emotional that she started to choke. She went up to Priyanka Chopra and requested her to read it on her behalf. PC then came up on stage and told the guests, Arpita is afraid she might 'break down, so I am going to read out what she has to say...' “I am the luckiest girl to be brought up in a family like mine,“ Arpita wrote in her speech, adding that her brothers are her pillars of strength. “Sohail bhai and I shared the same room until he got married - he's like a friend to me. Arbaaz bhai is like my guide, he always told me what's good and what's bad. Salman bhai though, has the biggest heart. For him, I can do no wrong. Everything I did, he was there to support me.“

Arpita also said she considers herself lucky to have a father like Salim, and mothers like Salma and Helen

SALMAN KHAN CALLS 'KATRINA KAPOOR' ON STAGE

Salman Khan, who was clearly in high spirits, wasted no opportunity to pull ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif 's leg. When the song Chikni Chameli played, Salman took to the mike and announced “Katrina Kaif, Katrina Kaif tumhara gaana baj raha hai. Please come on stage.“ When a visibly embarrassed Kat chose to hide behind Karan Johar and pretended to ignore Salman, he announced, “Karan please come here, and bring Katrina Kaif on stage...' When Kat refused to budge, Salman said, “Ok fine, not Katrina Kaif. Katrina Kapoor, please come on stage!“ A flustered Kat had no choice but to grin and bear it. When she finally walked towards the stage, Salman joked, “Mai kya karoon... I gave you a chance to become Katrina Khan, but you chose to be 'Katrina Kapoor'!“

SALMAN, ARBAAZ, SOHAIL AND SAJID DO THE FAMOUS TOWEL STEP

Salman Khan made a whacky entry on stage on a cycle. Brothers Arbaaz and Sohail joined him later, along with Sajid Nadiadwala, and the four grooved to Jeene Ke Hai Chaar Din.The funny bit was when they used one long piece of cloth to do Salman's famous towel step

ARBAAZ AND SON WERE THE REAL STARS

It started pouring in Hyderabad at around 8 pm and so, the party had to be moved indoors. Mika was all set with his electrifying performance. However, he was interrupted every now and then by Arbaaz, who just couldn't stop singing. The guests couldn't get enough of him either because he's a brilliant singer. Then came his son Arhaan Khan, who floored everyone with his style and moves. He stripped his jacket off and threw it at the ladies, and had everyone screaming `Once more!' A guest was heard saying, “He will soon give Shahid and Hrithik a run for their money.“

MIKA SINGH BELTED OUT SOME OF HIS POPULAR NUMBERS FOR THE NEWLY WEDS

Mika Singh is happy to have got the opportunity to make Arpita Khan's big day all the more memorable. The singer, who has lent his voice to many popular songs over the years, was specially invited by Salman and Sohail Khan to perform at their sister's wedding.

Mika has been close to the superstar and has always held the entire Khan family in high regard. Quite naturally, he was more than glad to sing on Arpita's big day. True to his flamboyant style, he put up a lively performance and entertained the guests at the star-studded event, as he belted out his hit numbers.

Turns out, the singer had back-to-back shows lined up this week, but he postponed them in order to accommodate the wedding. What's more, Mika has apparently been enjoying a string of successful shows overseas. His recent show in Houston, USA reportedly saw heavy footfalls. Despite the fact that it was held on a weekday, his fans showed up for the event in big numbers.

Aamir sang Aati kya Khandala, Sallu crooned Jumma chumma

AAMIR KHAN SUNG AATI KYA KHANDALA, SALMAN KHAN CROONED JUMMA CHUMMA

The picturesque Falaknuma Palace turned into a Bollywood studio late on Tuesday night with the who's who of the Hindi film industry singing and dancing to chartbusters. Aamir Khan sang Aati kya Khandala while Salman Khan crooned Jumma Chumma at the after wedding party of the latter's sister Arpita. Post 10 pm showers didn't dampen the mood as Aamir and wife Kiran Rao shook a leg. A fireworks display at 1 am brought the curtains down.

Salman personally served his favorite Hyderabadi Haleem to the guests. Pathar ka Gosht, Hyderabadi biryani, Dahi kebab were among the 100-plus delicacies from different parts of the country on the menu. His guests started leaving on Wednesday morning and by noon, most had left, with only 50 staying back for lunch. These included Union Minister Dr T Subbarami Reddy's daughter Pinky and her husband Sanjay Reddy. The last guests packed up at 3pm with no complaints about the service or security.

Only ten members from both families were at the hotel in the evening which was booked till midnight.

Fans thronged the hotel on Tuesday to catch a glimpse of their favourite stars and the newly-weds but a four-tier security from the entrance to the hotel half a kilometre away kept them at bay. On Wednesday, life and traffic around Falaknuma in the Old City was back to normal with only six cops on duty at the hotel entranc.

Despite promising to be there, Shah Rukh Khan skips Arpita’s wedding?

All anybody is talking about right now is Salman Khan’s sister Arpita’s wedding to Delhi entrepreneur Ayush Sharma.

At what is being called the wedding of the year, Aamir Khan received guests alongside the Khan-daan, Shah Rukh Khan, who was supposed to be at the venue early, was conspicuous by his absence. This after his ‘brotherly’ reunion with Salman Khan at the latter’s Mumbai residence on Sunday.

The two had hugged and made up and had even danced together on Sunday evening with a promise from SRK that he would be at the wedding in Hyderabad bright and early on Tuesday.

A close friend of Salman says Shah Rukh’s no-show came as a surprise to everyone. “On Sunday, when Shah Rukh was at Galaxy Apartments it seemed as if the differences had all dissolved. Salman had excitedly called up and woken up Aamir at midnight after Shah Rukh left, to talk about the latter’s visit. We were all surprised when he didn’t turn up at the wedding.”

Arpita Khan gets the wedding of her dreams; Bollywood gathers to give Sallu's sister blessings
P Pavan (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 19, 2014)

Salman Khan's youngest sister Arpita wed Delhi-based entrepreneur Aayush Sharma on Tuesday in Hyderabad.

The ceremony took place at the Falaknuma Palace which hosted Aamir Khan, Karan Johar, Katrina Kaif, David and Varun Dhawan, Baba Siddiqui and Riteish Deshmukh, among 250 select guests over two-days.

The bride, dressed in a lehenga by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, entered the Durbar Hall, which once hosted the likes of King George V and Czar Nicholas II, around 5 pm. The groom, who had arrived in a horse-drawn carriage flanked by musicians and relatives, was waiting for her. The couple was wed as per Hindu traditions with the rituals of a Punjabi wedding. And so, with the saat pheras and sindoor, Arpita wed Aayush in what has become the most talked about wedding this year.

While most of the invitees had flown in from Mumbai, the guest list also included Southern stars Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh and Nagarjuna. The bride-to-be had arrived on Monday with her famous family and checked into Falaknuma, which has reportedly been hired at the cost of Rs 1 crore per day. After dropping his sister and mother, Salman made another trip to the airport to pick up his soon-to-be brother-in-law.

The hotel was booked in Salman's name. The actor booked the duplex presidency room, the bedroom of the sixth Nizam, for Aayush, while Arpita settled into the Queen's suite. Hotel officials took instructions directly from the actor. The service providers, were issued special passes with letters AA, referring to the bride and groom--Arpita and Aayush.

City police commissioner M Mahender Reddy supervised the security arrangements. Salman was accompanied by his own bouncers and they took care of the three inner layers of security while local police took care of the peripheral bandobust.

Katrina Kaif makes it to guest list of Arpita Khan's wedding but not Ranbir Kapoor?

Kat yes, RK no

Several B'town biggies are on their way to Hyderabad for the wedding of Salman Khan's youngest sister Arpita on November 18. And the question on everybody's mind is: Has Salman's ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif been invited?

Mirror has learnt that Katrina has received an official invitation and is planning to be at the Falaknuma Palace when Arpita takes the pheras with boyfriend Aayush Sharma. What's more, she has even loaned her make-up man and hair stylist, Daniel Bauer, to the bride to ensure that she looks her best on her big day.

However, if Katrina attends the wedding, she'll do it all alone because her live-in partner Ranbir Kapoor is not on the guest list.

A source close to the Khan family told Mirror, "Ranbir ko shaadi pe nahin bulaya hai. And nobody knows if he will be invited for the reception (which will be hosted at a Bandra five-star on November 21)."

Once upon a time, Salman and Ranbir were good friends. That was when Katrina was seeing Salman. But the bonhomie ended when Ranbir told a section of the media in 2011 that he was not dating Katrina when he was.

Seems, Sallu doesn't count RK as his friend anymore. But things are different when it comes to Kat!

MEANWHILE...

Salman has definitely made peace with old foe Shah Rukh Khan, who visited his Bandstand apartment for Arpita's sangeet.

The visibly excited bride-to-be, not only hugged her star brother and but also SRK to mark the happy occasion. The picture later made its way to Instagram.

After the impromptu photo session, Salman and SRK had a hearty chat and Salman played the gracious host, even seeing his Khan dost off.

SRK had earlier said in a media event that Arpita is like his own sister and confirmed that he would attend her wedding, whether invited or not. "I will definitely go. I have known Arpita since she was a baby. I have cradled her in my arms. She is like my sister. I don't need an invite. The Khans are like my family and I will be there," he had asserted.
