The best performing release of last week, SALAAM VENKY, emerged a disaster as it collected only 1.25 crore nett in its first week. The less said about the collections of the other two films, MAARRICH and VASH, the better as they were struggling for 50 lakhs at the end of the week also.
The holdover release, AN ACTION HERO, saw a near 75% drop in the second week and this came with weak competition. The film has now collected over 10 crore nett and there will be a few lakhs to come which will mean a finish of around 10.75 crore nett for the film.
The collections of AN ACTION HERO till date are as follows.
Week One - 8,17,00,000
Week Two - 2,25,00,000
TOTAL - 10,42,00,000
BHEDIYA dropped around 55% in its third week which is a better trend than week two but as the collections are low, it hardly makes a difference to the overall picture for the film. Also the competition this week was weaker than last week which probably aided the film.
The collections of BHEDIYA till date are as follows.
Week One - 37,65,00,000
Week Two - 12,71,00,000
Week Three - 6,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 56,36,00,000 apprx
Salaam Venky collects 85 lakhs in 3 days; An Action Hero 9.67 cr in 10 days; Bhediya 54.36 cr in 17 days

The new releases (MAARRICH, SALAAM VENKY, VADH)) fared very poorly as SALAAM VENKY was the best of the lot but its collections still remained short of 1 crore nett for the weekend. The film collected around 85 lakhs nett while the other two releases were well short of 50 lakhs nett.
AN ACTION HERO saw a huge drop in collections in the second weekend as it collected only 1.50 crore nett. This was pretty much expected and the collections would have been even worse if the film had stronger competition in terms of better new releases. The film is still short of 10 crore nett but should get there at the end of its second week.
The collections of AN ACTION HERO till date are as follows.
Week One - 8,17,00,000
Friday - 30,00,000
Saturday - 55,00,000
Sunday - 65,00,000
Second Weekend - 1,50,00,000
TOTAL - 9,67,00,000
Bhediya also had a low third weekend of 4 crore nett but because of the huge growth on Saturday the weekend business of this film is the best outside the films which have been successful. It is far better than the likes of Vikram Vedha, Samraat Prithviraj and Laal Singh Chaddha.
The film now stands at 54 crore nett plus and should be 56-57 crore nett by the time Avatar 2 releases on Friday.
The collections of Bhediya (hindi) till date are as follows.
Week One - 37,65,00,000
Week Two - 12,71,00,000
Friday - 75,00,000 apprx
Saurday - 1,50,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 1,75,00,000 apprx
Third Weekend - 4,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 54,36,00,000 apprx
Salaam Venky collects 20 lakhs on Day 1; An Action Hero 8.50 cr in 8 days; Bhediya 51 cr in 15 days

There were many new Hindi releases this week with three films (MAARRICH, SALAAM VENKY, VADH) getting reasonable number of screens but neither could collect much at the box office. SALAAM VENKY was the best of the lot as it collected around 20 lakhs nett. This film had Kajol who is a recognizable face while other two films featured lesser known faces and character artistes.
The next best was VADH which collected around 10 lakhs nett while MAARRICH was probably in the 5-6 lakh nett range. These sort of collections do not leave these films much chances although that was probably known before release.
The holdover film AN ACTION HERO which has done very poorly is still doing better than these new releases as it picked up around 25 lakhs nett on its second Friday though this is a very low collection. The film has collected 8.50 crore nett in eight days. The lifetime business of the film will just about get over the 10 crore nett mark.
BHEDIYA collected around 75 lakhs nett on its third Friday and is basically trending with 65% weekly drops though that will change when the competition comes next week. The film saw huge growth on Saturday last week and it should be the same this week.
The film has now collections over the 51 crore nett mark and lifetime is looking to cross the 55 crore nett mark though 60 crore nett will be hard due to the release of AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER and CIRKUS over the next two weeks.

AN ACTION HERO was very poor in week one collecting 8.25 crore nett and despite open week it will not collect much more though limited competition should enable it to get over 10 crore nett. DOCTOR G had grossed 19 crore nett in week one, ANEK was 6.75 crore nett and CHANDIGARH KARE AASHIQUI was 17 crore nett. So the numbers here tell that Ayushmann Khurrana fits better in the humour zone. It's just that DOCTOR G and CHANDIGARH KARE AASHIQUI were not good as films and subjects were such that they have a limited audience.
The bigger problem with AN ACTION HERO then the numbers is the makers and actors actually think they have made a good film as they sent out note to media earlier this week. They seem to think as they have tried to make a different action film, it is good when they should understand that different does not mean good. Good is only when the public gives thumbs up. This is the sad side of the film industry and it means more box office disasters like AN ACTION HERO as there is still refusal to believe the truth and we don't mean refusing to believe the collections but refusing to believe that the content is trash.
BHEDIYA (Hindi) crossed the 50 crore nett mark at the end of its second week with a 12.75 crore nett week two total but it should have been easily crossing 50 crore nett in week one. The total so far is 50.50 crore nett and it should be a 55 crore nett plus finish as long as the film does not drop much today.
BHEDIYA is also a so called novel and different type of film but going by figures and especially trend in mass circuits, it is sure to be devoid of emotions as when these circuits don't open but a film has emotions, the trajectory would be better than this film has shown.
The collections of BHEDIYA till date are as follows.
Week One - 37,65,00,000
Friday - 1,75,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 3,85,00,000 apprx
Monday - 1,15,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 1,00,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 90,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 85,00,000 apprx
Second Week - 12,75,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 50,40,00,000 apprx

AN ACTION HERO dropped on Monday as it collected only 75 lakhs nett. The drop from day one is around 40% but that is pretty much irrelevant as there are hardly any collections and occupancy is so low. The four day collections of the film are 6.35 crore nett and it will be be a 8.25-8.50 crore nett first week.
There is pretty much an open week ahead with new releases which can hardly make any impact and maybe AN ACTION HERO can compete with those new releases but at best the all the open week can do is take the film over 10 crore nett. If there was major competition then this would not have happened.
The four day numbers for AN ACTION HERO are as follows.
Friday - 1,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 2,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 2,35,00,000 apprx
Monday - 75,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 6,35,00,000 apprx
BHEDIYA (Hindi) collected around 1.15 crore nett on its second Monday taking its week two total to 10 crore nett. It is likely to be a 13 crore nett apprx second week for the film which is better than the bigger films like SAMRAT PRITHVIRAJ and LAAL SINGH CHADDHA and even RAM SETU though for that film, the second week was more like a third week due to the extended first week.
BHEDIYA has collected 47.50 crore nett till date and should be around 50 crore nett plus by the end of the week.
The collections of BHEDIYA till date are as follows.
Week One - 37,65,00,000
Friday - 1,75,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 3,85,00,000 apprx
Monday - 1,15,00,000
Second Week - 10,00,00,000 apprx (4 days)
TOTAL - 47,65,00,000 apprx

AN ACTION HERO had a very poor weekend of a little over 5.50 crore nett. The film has managed to collect a little more than ANEK despite a lower first day as the growth on Saturday was much better. But that is hardly a consolation with these sort of low collections.
Simply put you cannot make an action film which does not appeal to the mass circuits as the urban crowd will be limited unless its more of a concept thriller where this crowd may come out through word of mouth. The film failed to push up much on Sunday due to the lack of mass patronage.
The weekend numbers for AN ACTION HERO are as follows.
Friday - 1,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 2,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 2,35,00,000 appex
TOTAL - 5,60,00,000 apprx
BHEDIYA (Hindi) could not do much in the second weekend collecting a low 8.75 crore nett plus and taking its total to 46.50 crore nett. The drop is 65% plus from the first weekend. There was a good jump on Saturday but with poor performance in Hindi circuits. the numbers on Sunday are not going to do much.
The Saturday jump does ensure the film will get over 50 crore nett and should get there by the end of the week. There is another open week to follow which should enable to film to get some more business in before AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER and CIRKUS arrive.
The collections of BHEDIYA till date are as follows.
Week One - 37,65,00,000
Friday - 1,75,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 3,85,00,000 apprx
Second Weekend - 8,85,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 46,50,00,000 apprx

AN ACTION HERO collected around 1.9-2 crore nett on day two which is still a very low collection. There was a jump of around 60% in business which in growth terms is good for a Saturday but the numbers and occupancy is just too low. The two day business of the film is around 3.25 crore nett.
The less said about the collections in mass circuits, the better as they are insanely low even on Saturday. The somewhat better business is coming from Delhi city, Gurgaon, Noida and Chandigarh. If the film can jump 40-50% on Sunday, then there may be some hope of a run but with the general growth in business being so good on Saturday, it does look very difficult for a huge jump on Sunday.
The two day numbers for AN ACTION HERO are as follows.
Friday - 1,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 2,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 3,25,00,000 apprx
BHEDIYA (Hindi) collected 3.25 crore nett on its second Saturday and showed a big jump of 85-90% but this is the sort of growth it needed on the first Saturday and it would have been a different story for the film then. Still this growth is good news for the film industry as this did not happen to likes of SAMRAT PRITHVIRAJ or LAAL SINGH CHADDHA earlier in the year. Or in fact VIKRAM VEDHA which is more on the lines of BHEDIYA as it was liked by industry and media but rejected by the audience.
The business of BHEDIYA now stands at around 43 crore nett and this growth means it is sure now to cros 50 crore nett which did not look so easy at the end of the first week.
The collections of BHEDIYA till date are as follows.
Friday - 6,75,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 9,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 10,75,00,000 apprx
Monday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 3,00,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 2,60,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 2,25,00,000 apprx
Week One - 37,85,00,000 apprx
Friday - 1,75,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 42,85,00,000 apprx

AN ACTION HERO fared very poorly on day one collecting around 1.25 crore nett. Earlier this year was an action film ATTACK which seemed like a film for the big centres only and now AN ACTION HERO looked for a more restrictive audience than that film and that is the way it has turned out.
An action film has to appeal to the masses as the urban audience is far less interested in action films unless they are big Hollywood films. The collections are less than ANEK which pretty much tells how bad the collections are. The numbers are a better in the NCR and that is the case for all Ayushmann Khurrana films.
BHEDIYA (Hindi) collected 1.75 crore nett on its eight day which is around 25% down from the previous day which is not too bad but overall the collections are down over 70% from the first day which itself was pretty weak; so the film is not going anywhere. The film has managed to stay above the new release AN ACTION HERO but that is more to do with that film not finding an audience.
The collections of BHEDIYA till date are as follows.
Friday - 6,75,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 9,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 10,75,00,000 apprx
Monday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 3,00,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 2,60,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 2,25,00,000 apprx
Week One - 37,85,00,000 apprx
Friday - 1,75,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 39,60,00,000 apprx
