Main Vaapus Aaunga vs 12th Fail lifetime comparison

Box Office India Trade Network

MAIN VAAPAS AAUNGA is coming to the end of its run with a few lakhs more to add and will close with a 59 crore nett total. The film has edged past a similar film, 12TH FAIL, which was released in 2023. The similarities are in that both did the box office in a similar way starting with around 1 crore nett on the first day and both catered to the gentry audiences with regional differences.

The main regional difference is that 12TH FAIL appealed more in the West (read mainly Mumbai Pune) and for MAIN VAAPAS AAUNGA, it was the North (read Punjab and NCR). Both films did well from where they started and can be called mini breakouts. Before the pandemic these would have been seen as huge breakouts but in the last few years there have been films like THE KASHMIR FILES and MAHAVATAR NARSIMHA which show nothing is impossible even with low starts. These are the new real breakouts like the era of the past.

This sort of stuff would happen in the older days in the single screen era with films starting with nothing and then running for weeks and weeks and challenging the top films. But generally in the multiplex era, before the pandemic, it was like you may start with 2-3 crore and get to 50-60 crore nett with 100 crore nett being pretty much impossible. THE KASHMIR FILES and MAHAVATAR NARSIMHA showed what is possible today even with low initial figures and like the old days BLOCKBUSTER success is possible with hardly any start. In that 2000-2020 era you could reach HIT level only.

The cost of 12TH FAIL is one third of MAIN VAAPAS AAUNGA. This is why its a HIT film and MAIN VAAPAS AAUNGA is not. MAIN VAAPAS AAUNGA needed a bigger breakout or a bigger initial.

The lifetime circuit figures of 12TH FAIL and MAIN VAAPAS AAUNGA are as follows.

Khichdi 2 collects 1 cr on Day 1; 12th Fail collects 35.08 cr in 23 days

Khichdi 2 To Release On Diwali. Details Here
Box Office India Trade Network

KHICHDI 2 did a decent first day number of 1 crore nett as the film did very good business in Gujarat which was the case for the previous KHICHDI film in 2010. The first had opened at around 60 lakhs nett and went on to do 6 crore nett and hence, its comfortably better for KHICHDI 2.

The film is mainly a Gujarat/Maharashtra franchise as Mumbai circuit is 65-70% of the all India business. This was the case with KHICHDI in 2010 and now KHICHDI 2 also has same ratios. The 10 crore nett total for the film would be a decent result but it may grow less on Saturday as Gujarat comes out of holidays and then the match will affect on Sunday.

12TH FAIL continues to do well as it collects another 1 crore nett on its third Friday. The film stands at 35 crore nett now and will cross the 40 crore nett mark by the end of the week. In its lifetime, it should cross 45 crore nett. The film is the surprise HIT of 2023.

The business of 12TH FAIL till date is as follows.
Week One  - 12,52,00,000
Week Two -  13,81,00,000
Week Three - 8,75,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 35,08,00,000 apprx

12th Fail collects 33.08 cr in 21 days

12TH FAIL has emerged a surprise HIT as it continues to do well in its third which looks like doing around 10 crore nett thanks to a big jump in collections from Monday due to Diwali holidays. The film has collected 33 crore nett so far and looks like it will comfortably cross the 40 crore nett mark.

The film was hit hard with the release of TIGER 3 on Sunday but then the holiday period gave the film a push as it was an established film before the release of the Salman Khan starrer. The film is the first HIT of veteran director Vidhu Vinod Chopra after over forty years in the game.

The film has chances to sustain now for a a few weeks as the main cities like Mumbai, Delhi NCR and Bangalore should continue with good numbers. The standout has been business in these three cities.

The business of 12TH FAIL till date is as follows.
Week One  - 12,52,00,000
Week Two -  13,81,00,000
Friday - 1,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 1,75,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 50,00,000 apprx
Monday - 1,75,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 1,75,00,000 apprx
Third Week - 6,75,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 33,08,00,000 apprx

12th Fail collects 26.17 cr in 2 weeks

12TH FAIL did well in the second week as it collected 13.50 crore nett to take its two week numbers to 26 crore nett. The film could well be at around 30 crore nett now when TIGER 3 releases on Sunday and then it remains to be seen what it can do after.

The film is being screened in a huge number of shows at present as multiplexes don't really have much choice. There are some multiplexes which have screenings in double digits per day at present but this will see a 80-90% reduction from Sunday. The benefit will be that it is holiday week and so, it could put up some decent collections as post TIGER 3, there is not much releasing in November.

The business of 12TH FAIL till date is as follows.
Week One 12,52,00,000
Friday - 1,75,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Monday - 1,25,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 1,35,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 1,40,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 1,40,00,000 apprx
Second Week- 13,65,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 26,17,00,000 apprx

12th Fail collects 20.77 cr in 10 days

12th Fail box office
Box Office India Trade Network

12TH FAIL had good collections in the second weekend as it collected 8.25 crore nett which is 25% higher than the first weekend which collected 6.50 crore nett. Its actually the trend which is very good rather than the collections. The film now stands at a 20 crore nett plus total of 20.75 crore nett apprx.

The film is a surprise success as it looks like it will have a 27-28 crore nett total before the release of TIGER 3. Shockingly, it actually has chances of emerging an outright HIT if it can collect post TIGER 3's release. The Diwali period is a plus but it can also just fade out due to the heavyweight juggernaut. Hence, it remains to be seen what happens.

It looks like a year of veteran directors who have been around for 40 years or more coming back this year. Earlier this year, Anil Sharma created history with GADAR 2 and here another director from the 80's, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, may have an outside chance to score a HIT. Vidhu Vinod Chopra is no Anil Sharma with a horrible track record consisting of mainly flops outside the decent success of MISSION KASHMIR. But after over 40 year, 12TH FAIL could be his first hit IF TIGER 3 lets it collect.

The business of 12TH FAIL till date is as follows.
Week One 12,52,00,000
Friday - 1,75,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Second Weekend - 8,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 20,77,00,000 apprx

12th Fail collects 14.27 cr in 8 days; Tejas collects 4.30 cr in 6 days

Tejas Vs 12th Fail Box Office

TEJAS is continuing with very dull business on weekdays and it looks like a 5 crore nett lifetime total for the film. The opening day meant the film had no chance but still you can trend well and get a run but nothing like that happened here.

The six day collections for TEJAS are as follows.
Friday - 1,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 1,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 1,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 30,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 30,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 30,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 4,30,00,000 apprx

12TH FAIL went up further on Wednesday as it collected around 1.50 crore nett and these collections are now 50% above the first day. The film is on a good run at the multiplexes it is being screened and it is sure to do well now till the release of TIGER 3.

The way the film is trending it looks like the second week should be more than the first week with the second weekend looking certain to be more than the first weekend. Whether the week gets there will depend on the collections post Monday.

The six day business of 12TH FAIL is as follows.
Friday - 1,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 2,40,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 2,85,00,000 apprx
Monday - 1,10,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 1,25,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 1,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 10,10,00,000 apprx
-------------------------------------------------
12TH FAIL had good collections on its second Friday as it picked up 1.75 crore nett. The film showed a strong trend over the weekdays in the first week and scored its best day outside the Saturday and Sunday on its second Friday.

The collections of the film are around 70% up from the first day but admits are more than double of day one as there were discounted ticket rates at certain cinemas. The film has generally business coming from Mumbai and Delhi/UP as Mumbai will be around 4 crore nett and Delhi/UP around 3.50 crore nett after its second Friday.

The second week business of the film should be similar to the first week. No doubt the weekend will be better than the first weekend but weekdays may not collect as much last week. The real test for the film will be what happens when TIGER 3 releases and can it collect something through the Diwali period.

The business of 12TH FAIL till date is as follows.
Week One 12,52,00,000
Friday - 1,75,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 14,27,00,000 apprx

Tejas collects 4 cr in 5 days; 12th Fail collects 8.60 cr

Tejas Box Office Day 6 Prediction
Box Office India Trade Network

TEJAS takes its total to 4 crore nett after five days and heads for a 4.50 crore nett apprx week. The film is a total disaster though not as big as the last film of Kangana Ranaut's DHAAKAD which did 50% of the business of TEJAS.

The five day collections for TEJAS are as follows.
Friday - 1,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 1,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 1,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 30,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 30,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 4,00,00,000 apprx

12TH FAIL scored well on its first Tuesday with a continued good trend as collections went up on Tuesday by around 15%. This takes the total to 8.50 crore nett plus and the week can now go towards the 11 crore nett mark. It has been seen time and time again that when a small film holds at Friday levels on Monday, then Tuesday always holds or goes up.

The film is now about the second Friday and it should hold up at the present level or maybe even higher which could put in line for a comfortable 25 crore nett. The film is a success and a better result depends if it can collect post the juggernaut of TIGER 3.

The five day business of 12TH FAIL is as follows.
Friday - 1,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 2,40,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 2,85,00,000 apprx
Monday - 1,10,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 1,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 8,60,00,000 apprx

Tejas collects 3.80 cr in 4 days; 12th Fail 7.35 cr; Sajini Shinde Ka Viral Video 30 lakhs in 3 days

Friday Box Office Report: Tejas, 12th Fail and Sajini Shinde Ka Viral Video are a collective disaster
Box Office India Trade Network

TEJAS is a disaster as collections fell on the Sunday after very poor collections on the first two days. The fall in business was due to the match but even allowing for that it would not have gone up much on Sunday if the match was not there. The film has collected only 3.50 crore nett over the first weekend and the film has a pretty hefty budget though less than GANAPATH. The results are basically as bad as GANAPATH.

The three day collections for TEJAS are as follows.
Friday - 1,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 1,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 1,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 3,50,00,000 apprx

12TH FAIL had a good trend over its first weekend as it even managed an uptrend on Sunday with the cricket match hitting business. The film does not have much up on the board but the film is mainly about where it goes from here on. Considering what other films have done recently then even just this 6 crore nett plus number looks huge. But for the film itself its all about what it can do till the release of TIGER 3.

The three day business of 12TH FAIL is as follows.
Friday - 1,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 2,40,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 2,85,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 6,25,00,000 apprx

The third release of the week SAJINI SHINDE KA VIRAL VIDEO collected only 30 lakhs nett over its first weekend.

The three day business of SAJINI SHINDE KA VIRAL VIDEO is as follows.
Friday - 7,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 12,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 11,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 30,00,000 apprx
----------------------------------------------
TEJAS crashed out on Monday as it had very limited collections of just 30 lakhs nett. The total so far is under 4 crore nett and the first week may finish at 4.50 crore nett. There will not be much to come after week one even though there will hardly be any competition in the week before Diwali.

The four day collections for TEJAS are as follows.
Friday - 1,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 1,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 1,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 30,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 3,80,00,000 apprx

12TH FAIL did well on Monday as it collected a little more than its first day. The collections on Monday were in the 1.10 crore nett range and this takes the film to almost 7.50 crore nett. The film is now set for a decent run at least till the release of TIGER 3 and it could be that the second week of the film is as much as the first week. It would be no surprise if it actually collected more than week one as there will be no worthwhile releases.

The first week business of 12TH FAIL will be around 10.50 crore nett and the trend of the film is better than MRS CHATTERJEE VS NORWAY which opened at a similar mark and eventually did reasonable business. Like last week's LEO, this will be a good filler for the pre Diwali period. LEO (Hindi) was for the non nationals and other theatres and here 12TH FAIL will be for the national players.

The four day business of 12TH FAIL is as follows.
Friday - 1,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 2,40,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 2,85,00,000 apprx
Monday - 1,10,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 7,35,00,000 apprx

Tejas collects 2.50 cr in 2 days; 12th Fail 3.40 cr; Sajini Shinde Ka Viral Video 19 lakhs

Friday Box Office Report: Tejas, 12th Fail and Sajini Shinde Ka Viral Video are a collective disaster
Box Office India Trade Network

TEJAS is a poor fare as it recorded poor collections on its second day. The main issue is not so much the low collections which were always expected but you would expect this type of film at least to be up on a Saturday as its mainly for those big multiplexes. Even if the film does not go up 70-80%, it should at least go up 20-30% just for a normal trend for an also run but that has not happened here.

The two day collections for TEJAS are as follows.
Friday - 1,25,00,000
Saturday - 1,25,00,000
TOTAL - 2,50,00,000

12TH FAIL showed very good growth on Saturday as the film jumped 140% on its second day. The film collected almost 2.50 crore nett on day two. This should mean a good hold on Monday and its about what the film does from Monday onward which will decide its fate. The film could go the way of an earlier release this year MRS CHATTERJEE VS NORWAY depending on the weekdays. This film has lower costs than that film but the Rani Mukerji starrer had some overseas support also which is not the case here.

The two day business of 12TH FAIL is as follows.
Friday - 1,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 2,40,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 3,40,00,000 apprx

The third release of the week, SAJINI SHINDE KA VIRAL VIDEO, is a dull affair with very low collections.

The two day business of SAJINI SHINDE KA VIRAL VIDEO is as follows.
Friday - 7,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 12,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 19,00,000 apprx

Tejas collects 1.25 cr on Day 1; 12th Fail 1 cr; Sajini Shinde Ka Viral Video 10 lakhs

Friday Box Office Report: Tejas, 12th Fail and Sajini Shinde Ka Viral Video are a collective disaster
Box Office India Trade Network

TEJAS had a dull first day as it collected around 1.15-1.25 crore nett on its first day. The film managed to get over 1 crore nett which looked a best case scenario in the morning. The collections improved post the afternoon but the improvement was just not good enough. The opening numbers are also better than the previous few films led by Kangana Ranaut but that is also not saying much as none of these films managed to get to the 1 crore nett mark.

12TH FAIL has managed decent business in the 1-1.05 crore nett range as it picked up well. Although the number of the film is lower than TEJAS, the film also has a much smaller release with 500 screens apprx. The film made good strides through the day and may get a audience in the metros. A lot depends what happens post Monday for this film and that Monday number has to be around the Friday number if it is to get a decent run.

The other release of the week SAJINI SHINDE KA VIRAL VIDEO was a total dead duck with collections of under 10 lakhs nett. The collections of the film are probably around 7 lakhs nett and this film showed no pick up as the day progressed.

These three new releases have only collected in the bigger multiplexes as LEO (Hindi) continues to dominate generally in most the Hindi centres despite being in week two.
