COCKTAIL 2 collected well on its first day with collections of around 12-12.25 crore nett and there are some adds to these collections. Even allowing for that, it has still opened well. The opening is third best of the year after DHURANDHAR THE REVENGE and BORDER 2 as it collects more than BHOOTH BANGLA which was 11.50 crore nett. But is the collection better than BHOOTH BANGLA  without the feeds that is another question. Only time will tell.

The film has managed an opening day more than its predecessor COCKTAIL in 2012. Although technically it should be much more than the first part going by the higher ticket rates today, there is the other side whereby the genre is not the same as it was in 2012. COCKTAIL (2012) was a HIT due to the initial weekend which was thanks to the music and Deepika Padukone.

Here its the same director again; when you look at the filmography, he has films which are pretty much alien to the core Indian audiences. So, it will have to be a similar story to COCKTAIL (2012) where the weekend pulls the film through. The collections are far less across the Hindi belts and they are sure to struggle in the long run. So, its down to the big cities. Mysore has done best for the film followed by NCR and Mumbai.

The film has scored well in Overseas as well as day one should come in at around $700k plus which is the best opening for a Shahid Kapoor starrer outside PADMAAVAT. KABIR SINGH was less than $500k. Overall, its a good start for the film but because of feeding it becomes hard to judge growth as how much will be put in or not put in from here is an unknown.
