DHURANDHAR THE REVENGE went on a box office carnage on Saturday which was a national holiday for Eid and on Sunday it went even a little better as it collected around 100 crore nett. Bassi Eid falling on a Sunday did the trick as some of the mass centres do better on the second day of Eid then the actual national holiday. The film is running riot at the box office and smashed records like nothing before.

The weekend including paid previews is 384 crore nett and this is a total that no film has even managed in seven days as PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE did 360 crore nett in seven days. As for original Hindi films, PATHAAN did around 317 crore nett. There is a further 12 crore nett in languages which takes the film to almost 400 crore nett in all versions. The business on Saturday and Sunday is a box office dream with insane occupancy for present times on huge capacity.

Its records all over though it did not reach the Sunday figures of PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE in CP Berar and Odisha on Sunday. But this is a regional thing as DHURANDHAR THE REVENGE has a heavy North flavour. When you take that into consideration, then for films with a Northern touch to achieve similar numbers to PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE in these two circuits itself is a crazy achievement.

The advances are historic for Monday and its going to be a huge hold and its pretty certain that a 50 crore nett day is loading and it could even be 60 crore nett. The film crossed 100 crore nett in Mumbai on Sunday and it will do the same time in Delhi/UP in a few days time. East Punjab could even be looking at 100 crore nett in the long run making it the third circuit to hit milestone. In fact even Mysore doing a 100 crore nett would be no surprise.

DHURANDHAR THE REVENGE (Hindi) collected a huge 677 crore worldwide over its extended weekend and it was record breaking practically everywhere. The film is already among the top ten grossing original Hindi films worldwide and will easily be top of the pile. For this film now, its not just about being top of the pile but by what margin.

The film has another 15 crore gross coming from other versions of the film which takes the film to 692 crore and the biggest ever total when you include multiple versions for a similar period is PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE at around 730 crore and this is the only comparison. DHURANDHAR THE REVENGE is around 40 crore less and will eat into this gap over the weekdays. There is no Gulf here and if you take what it could have done in Gulf then the figure would have easily surpassed PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE.

Gulf is always going to be an issue with patriotic films especially the ones like DHURANDHAR THE REVENGE which have a Pakistan angle. But you take that hit as this angle sells like anything in India especially when the protagonist does damage in the neighbouring country. The film can hit the 1000 crore mark worldwide by the end of the week.

DHURANDHAR THE REVENGE had an unbelievable Monday as it collected 60 crore nett. If we take the first day of all the films outside DHURANDHAR THE REVENGE, then this Monday would be standing at number 3 after PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE and JAWAN. So the Monday comparisons are pointless as the film competes with the first days of the biggest films.

The total collections of the film stand at 444 crore nett including paid previews and the week could be looking at a first week total of 575 crore nett. There was the Eid factor still in play on Monday which has aided collections. Normally in this period you look at East Punjab where Eid is not a factor for a trend but that circuits is down only 15% from Friday. It could be that its going to outperform here due to that huge North flavour in the film. The overall drop is around 18% from Friday with states like UP getting a boost from Eid.

The film has seen ticket prices held at similar rates as the weekend and the weekend was showing an average ticket price of 330 as admits were 1.40 crore plus apprx. The nationals chains were showing an insane ATP of around 440. Post pandemic has seen free tickets and discounted tickets given and here is a film with crazy ticket prices being lapped up. When the content is there and the audience wants to see, then pricing just does not come in the way.

The regional versions of the film are okay. There has been a fall in the Tamil version and it has little chance to reach the figures of JAWAN. The Telugu version is much better and it may challenge the numbers of ANIMAL though it remains to be seen how it goes over the next few days. Both JAWAN and ANIMAL had names from these markets which makes a huge difference as DHURANDHAR THE REVENGE is superior film. But business in regional will be so so unless the Telugu market can really sustain over the next few weeks. Its a different story for the Hindi version in the South as that is far bigger than JAWAN and ANIMAL which are among the bigger films in the South markets.

DHURANDHAR THE REVENGE collected an insane 60 crore nett on Monday smashing all records. There is a little Eid factor in play but even on fair value, its way above the rest. There is TIGER 3 in second place but it was day two for that film and a national holiday. So, that can be taken out of the equation. Basically it means the 50 crore nett figure on a normal Monday for a blockbuster film is now a possibility.

It was only 2019 that a film managed to hit 50 crore nett on day one for the first time. It can be said that these unprecedented DHURANDHAR THE REVENGE figures are impossible to beat but the business for the bigger films with the content are growing so fast that you just don't know where you will be in a year or two.

Basically the box office is not shared like it used to be earlier with the bigger films taking the bigger piece of the cake leaving the other films with lesser collections and benefitting the blockbuster film. The box office now remains dead for weeks and then suddenly it erupts and then meanders along until the next eruption though DHURANDHAR THE REVENGE is a volcanic eruption of another level.

DHURANDHAR THE REVENGE continued its outstanding run on Tuesday as it collected 46 crore nett which takes the film to 490 crore nett in six days and paid previews. The collections are down from the Monday but this is post Eid and that Eid affect gets lesser and lesser each day. The collections in centres where Eid has a limited impact held up better on Tuesday.

The are places which are still in that Eid holiday zone especially in the state of UP. It will all wind down from today or tomorrow at the latest and the film will then find a normal level though its a holiday for Ram Navami on Thursday. So, it will be Friday when the film has no holiday factor. The Tuesday business of the film still remains well above the likes PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE and ANIMAL. The first week had already set a record in just the first four days and the traditional seven day first week looks like going to around 485-490 crore nett while the extended first week is set to be around 565 crore nett plus.

The film has simply torn up the record books in the first week and has smashed practically every single record there is. The second week will see it compete with its predecessor, the first part of DHURANDHAR, and no doubt it will smash the second weekend of that film but things will get tougher from the second Monday as its from here that DHURANDHAR part one went to another level.

Down South, the film is doing well in Telugu but not in Tamil. The collections here are around 20 crore nett so far but it does not look like it will reach the level of JAWAN or even ANIMAL in its other language versions.

DHURANDHAR THE REVENGE recorded the second highest first Tuesday all time with GADAR 2 being top but the latter had a huge national holiday of Independence Day. So, on fair value, the DHURANDHAR THE REVENGE's Tuesday is better. The film has got a little benefit of Eid on Tuesday but still collections would easily be above 40 crore nett if all normal.

The first Tuesday also sees both parts of DHURANDHAR in the top ten with DHURANDHAR Part 1 in ninth place. On Friday, its likely that this franchise will hold top places. So, in terms of second Fridays, it will be DHURANDHAR THE REVENGE holding top place and DHURANDHAR holding second place or vice versa. Its likely to be the same story through the second week. This has never happened before and is basically about the domination of this franchise at the box office over the last 4 months.

For the record, the film has collected 20 crore nett more than DHURANDHAR Part 1 on the first Tuesday but this gap will close everyday from here. There are only four films above 30 crore nett and they are GADAR 2, DHURANDHAR THE REVENGE, PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE and ANIMAL.
