Border 2 movie review: A worthy successor to a beloved war classic

Box Office India Trade Network

BORDER 2 is coming to an end of its run with collections standing at a little over 314 crore nett in seven weeks and it may have another 20-25 lakhs nett to come. The film is a SUPER HIT but could have done a little better post the first week. The film still added around 100 crore nett after the first week which is good but another 30-40 crore nett could have made the film a BLOCKBUSTER.

The first week was aided by the Republic Day period when collections on Sunday and Monday (Republic Day) really caught on as the weaker circuits also scored but outside these two days the story was of excellent business in Delhi/UP, East Punjab, Rajasthan and Bihar. These circuits have done 400 crore nett level business but the biggest circuit Mumbai is at 225 crore nett level.

The film is not a low cost film like GADAR 2 but its also really cant be called big budget as those films are now well over 300 crore and even 400 crore. The negative will be the comparisons will be GADAR 2 in terms of collections but that was always going to be hard part as the target was so high. Also, as the film is based on a real war, it limits the cinematic liberty unlike a GADAR 2 where you can go to any level.

The collections of BORDER 2 till date are as follows.
Week One - 2,17,61,00,000
Week Two - 65,03,00,000
Week Three - 22,16,00,000
Week Four - 6,02,00,000

Week Six - 1,05,00,000
