IKKIS had a decent start with New Years day propelling its collections. The initial is actually good for its face value and the fact is that it does not have the commercial elements for an initial. On the other hand, the film has a heavy budget for this face value and on that side the initial is not good enough. So overall, its a decent start.
The film is far better if compared to last week's TU MERI MAIN TERA MAIN TERA TU MERI though the force of DHURANDHAR and AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH is less this week compared to last week. The film has a new cast but it will mainly be remembered for being the last film of Dharmendra who basically had his first release on November 4, 1960 and here his last is on January 1, 2026.
The career of the legend spanned 65 years from first film till last and the only other major star who saw this was Dev Anand who also spanned 65 years from 1946 till 2011. Dev Anand also had a release post death in 2016 but this was a long delayed film completed way back. It was on the brink of release in 1992 when something mush have happened to leave it in the cans.
These type of films like IKKIS depend on what happens after the initial weekend as its about getting a run so it remains to be seen how it goes here. The last month of the year has seen four main releases with DHURANDHAR, KIS KISKO PYAAR KAROON 2, TU MERI MAIN TERA MAIN TERA TU MERI and now IKKIS. The sad part is the first three named have seen feeding with DHURANDHAR(day one) and TU MERI MAIN TERA MAIN TERA TU MERI (weekend) being blatant while KIS KISKO PYAAR KAROON 2 added for whatever reason on the Sunday.
The advance pattern of IKKIS were also not normal with the film being so heavily lopsided towards the PVR chain. So, straight away, the talk was the same again but if feeding is there its nothing at the level of DHURANDHARday one or TU MERI MAIN TERA MAIN TERA TU MERI. So here, you have to give the benefit of doubt to the film at present.
--------------------------------
IKKIS has not done that well over the first three days. The collections can be said to be okay for the cast but the costs involved needed higher collections or better said the trend had to be stronger as the initial was never going to be commensurate of its budget. The film has collected around 13.50 crore nett over the first three days and extended weekend will be under 20 core nett.
The trend is not as bad as it looks as the first day has a fiddle. So, the real collections are not that far below the first day as they look on paper. The drop at centers on the second day was huge because of the boosted collections on the first day. Still the Saturday growth had to be much better, especially for a film depending on word of mouth.
The film is based on the 1971 war with Pakistan and will be presented well with a neutral stance which makes it more for the gentry audience. But the way today films like THE KASHMIR FILES and the THE KERALA SRORY rack up collections in the bigger centres, this is probably not the right time for such a film. Forget THE KASHMIR FILES and THE KERALA SRORY, even a film like THE TAJ STORY gets its best figures in gentry centres like Mumbai and Pune.
The collections of IKKIS are as follows.
Thursday - 6,00,00,000 apprx
Friday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 4,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 13,50,00,000 apprx
--------------------------------
IKKIS collected 18 crore nett over its extended first day weekend which is a low collection. The film did not have much face value for an initial and then could not show trend needed over the weekend. Ultimately, the film was depending on this and the film just never came up enough on the Saturday.
If the Saturday does not do the trick for this type of film, then Sunday is always going to prove to be difficult and that was the case here. The main issue with the film is the budget as you need the film to break out where Monday is as good or higher than the Friday to have a chance. The break outs are more post pandemic but a break out for only chance of success is very risky business.
The collections of IKKIS are as follows.
Thursday - 6,00,00,000 apprx
Friday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 4,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 4,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 18,00,00,000 apprx
--------------------------------
IKKIS fell on Monday as it collected 1.25 crore nett which is a major fall from Friday, let alone the first day. The film had collected around 3.25 crore nett on Friday and Monday is down 60% on the Friday. This takes the film to 19.25 crore nett in five days and there will be some benefit of the discounted Tuesday but it will hardly matter.
The first week is looking at a close of around 22.50-23 crore nett and there is not much to come after as it will be DHURANDHAR dominating from holdovers and then there are these two South films coming both which will get good releases especially THE RAJA SAAB. IKKIS could have a task reaching the 30 crore nett mark from here.
The collections of IKKIS are as follows.
Thursday - 6,00,00,000 apprx
Friday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 4,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 4,50,00,000 apprx
Monday - 1,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 19,25,00,000 apprx
