Even though A R Rahman has made brief appearances in films, the Academy Award winner is all set to take up his first acting role in the Prabhudheva-starrer upcoming comedy, Moonwalk . Interestingly, he will be playing a film director named A R Rahman.
The film’s director, Manoj Nirmala Sreedharan, tells us, “When I pitched the idea to him, AR sir was game for the new experience. I told him the movie will be fun, and he said, ‘Let’s do it.’ He is extremely busy, but still took time away from all his projects and did this film.”
He adds, “Prabhu sir and Rahman sir are collaborating after so many years. So, there is so much excitement even for the two of them. It was that excitement that Rahman sir liked more than anything else.”
‘The entire set was happy to see him act’
Sharing the experience of having Rahman as an actor on the set, Manoj says, “Prabhudheva sir, who is a director himself, was laughing watching Rahman sir perform. He enjoyed how natural Rahman sir’s acting was. Actually, the entire set was happy to see him act. We could see he was having fun, and I also think that has translated on screen.”
