EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT held up well again on its third day showing a drop of around 20% as it collected 6.25 crore nett taking its three day total to 23.50 crore nett. It is the Diwali period and its hard to actually tell how good the trend is. But on both day two and day three, the film has shown better holds than the bigger film THAMMA.

The first day saw collections which were 40% of THAMMA and day three was upto around 50%. The collections itself are not huge or anything but for this film these are solid collections for the costs. The film just needs to hold on a normal path from here to emerge a surprise HIT and there have not been many of them this year.

The film is seeing strong collections in places like UP, Bihar and Rajasthan but there was always a chance of that for a film like this but the surprise for the film is East Punjab which is contributing 10% and the normal would be 7-8% for this type of film. The film has caught THAMMA in practically all the centres of the circuit expect the bigger ones like Gurgaon, Chandigarh and Faridabad and this is despite far less screenings.

EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT continues to do well as it collected over 5 crore nett on Friday with collections in the 5.25 crore nett range. This is the fourth day for the film and even if these collections had come on day one, it would have been a fair result for the film. The film has a total of almost 29 crore nett so far and is in a good position.

The film is seeing a better trending everyday since release as compared to THAMMA and it was the same story on Friday. The collections of the film are around 55% of THAMMA when on day one it was 40% of the horror comedy. The film just needs to go at this momentum and will emerge as a HIT film.

There are these films like PARAM SUNDARI, SUNNY SANSKARI KI TULSI KUMARI, BAD NEWZ and SATYAPREM KI KATHA, all of which collected in the 45-75 crore nett range. Despite being a smaller film, EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT has a shot at beating most of these movies and even all of them if it really holds post the Diwali period.

EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT collected 6.75 crore on Saturday as it continued its good run at the box office. The growth was only around 20% but this was expected with all its strong circuits in holiday period and so, they did not go up. The film has collected 36 crore nett so far in five days and the weekend is probably heading for at least a 43 crore nett total over an extended six day weekend which ensures the film is a success at the very least.

The extended weekend total could come out better but again many states remain in holiday period. So, they may not see that normal Sunday growth. This film like THAMMA also has lesser collections in Mumbai circuit but it can get away with that as it does not have the expectations of THAMMA and the costs are much less.

The film offers hope for these smaller films and shows that films can still reach the Hindi circuits even without the bigger names and budgets. Post the pandemic the only other smaller film from the Hindi film industry to do numbers was 12TH FAIL (not counting the likes of THE KASHMIR FILES and THE KERALA STORY as these films were not in the regular zone and worked for a certain reason). 12TH FAIL did not score in Hindi belts and was mainly the multiplexes in bigger centres which is an audience far easier to find without bigger stars and budgets.

Music is the key and although its always been the key, it becomes even more important today with star power alone not good enough to draw crowds in numbers initially.

EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT has scored very well over its six day extended weekend collecting a very good 43 crore nett plus and although Sunday has not seen a huge jump, it has shown the best trend out of the all films playing which have generally gone down or flat. The film has sustained well over the Diwali period coming out with a excellent Sunday of over 7 crore nett at the end of it.

The film would have been seen as a good result if the film had got 50 crore nett lifetime but the film is now standing at 43 crore nett in just six days. Although the general impression will be that its a single screen film, the fact remains it did not get a release in many of the key single screens as they went to THAMMA. As a result, generally the business has come from multiplexes. The national chains have done good but the non nationals and independents practically across all circuits have seen very good numbers.

The stand out is East Punjab and this very surprising as one its a totally multiplex dominated circuit where these types don't tend to do well and on top the holiday period is only for two days. Yet, the film gets 4.50 crore nett which is more than 10% of the business and that too when when other circuits have the holiday period. Delhi/UP, Rajasthan, CI and East India are also good but extended holidays benefitted these places. Gujrat collections are also solid and held up very well for the six days.

EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT is a success and its on it way to emerging a HIT film as it should hold up well enough from here. There have only been 4 HITS this year from the Hindi film industry so far and they are CHHAAVA, RAID 2, SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR and SAIYAARA and this looks set to surprisingly become the fifth HIT film of 2025. There was also MAHAVATAR NARSIMHA where the producers were not from the South but it eventually came through from Hombale Films, a studio based in the South.

EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT is a HIT as it sees a strong hold on Monday dropping just 50% from the Sunday and around 35% from the Friday. The film collected 3.5-3.75 crore nett on Monday and has found appreciation and now looks set for a good run. It has 47 crore nett up on the board so far and should go to around 55 crore nett over the extended first week of ten days.

The film is very good in Delhi/UP, East Punjab, Bihar and the Central circuits as in most of the centres in these areas the film has gone above THAMMA. This is despite being weaker release in terms of showcasing. Its just not the circuits but shockingly even an upmarket multiplex chain like Cinepolis has the same collections for both films on Monday.

The film is again showing that if you get that core Hindi belt crowd on side, your film will do the numbers and eventually the metros will also get respectable numbers. But when its the other way around and appreciation in metros only, then the others just don't get collections in the post pandemic scenario. It also shows that even if you don't get some of the cinemas you need, you can still do well as eventually that public finds a way to watch the film. The film missed out some very important single screens where it would have collected better than what THAMMA has.

The job is done for the film but now it remains to be seen if the film can get to that 75 crore nett mark or even higher and the second weekend will determine that.

EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT will also emerge a HIT film in overseas driven by business in the United Kingdom which has seen an excellent hold on Monday and this circuit is set to run well in the long run. The film released on Tuesday to limited collections due to a midweek release but managed around $850k in its extended weekend. However, it is the Monday when the film is coming into its own.

The film picked up around $100k on Monday when Sunday was $180k which is an excellent trend for overseas. The collections on Monday in overseas were similar to THAMMA but that film had done $1.8 million over the first six days compared to the $850k of EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT. The numbers of EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT are coming with a limited Canada market as a key chain has not released the film and it should start there from Friday. Like India, the film will also be a going ahead of THAMMA in a day or two.

The film is going to be driven by the United Kingdom where it has done double of THAMMA on Monday and collected a solid £23k. The total collections of the film so far are $950k in seven days. THAMMA stands at around $1.9 million but collections on Monday have fallen badly. SUNNY SANSKARI KI TULSI KUMARI, released a few weeks back, is looking to finish at around $2.8 million and it could be that THAMMA finishes with a similar total as much of the business has been done due to the Tuesday release.

Its tough to say where EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT will go as United Kingdom can really hold and another holding market like Canada is yet to see a proper release. Nevertheless, a $2 million total will happen on a worst case scenario which is a huge number for this film in Overseas. The worldwide numbers for the film till date are 65.50 crore in seven days and the 100 crore mark looks easy for the film.

EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT had another good day as collections went to 4.50 crore nett with the discounted rates and the film being very strong in the some mass pockets due to the bounce post Chhath Puja. The Monday number is only around 20% down from the Friday and the film has crossed the 50 crore nett mark with collections standing at 51.50 crore nett after eight days.

The Diwali period is now over and there will be a drop on collections but the film has done very well to get this far and the extended first week will easily go over 55 crore nett. Then it will be about that Thursday to Friday hold which will determine the lifetime business. It has a good chance to go to that 75 crore nett plus mark which is a very good result.

The film will be coming out of an extended holiday week and it remains to be seen how the weekend grows as sometimes the weekends post a huge holiday week show less growth than growth than normal. EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT is only the fifth HIT film of they year in terms of original Hindi films and there are only two months left. Hopefully, there can be some more so at least by the end of the year, there are 7-8 HIT films.

EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT is seeing an excellent run in Bihar as collections cross the 2 crore nett mark and is already well ahead of the likes of PARAM SUNDARI and SUNNY SANSKARI KI TULSI KUMARI with plenty of gas left in the tank. The collections on Day eight were similar to day one in the circuit as business got hit on Sunday and Monday for Chhath Puja. But the occupancy came back strong on Tuesday.

The film will cross the 3 crore nett mark and although that does not look much of a number but very few films even manage to hit this mark in the circuit today. The only original Hindi films to do last year was STREE 2, BHOOL BHULAIYAA 3, SINGHAM AGAIN, FIGHTER and SHAITAAN. This year so far, its only SAIYAARA, CHHAAVA, WAR 2, HOUSEFULL 5, RAID 2, SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR and SIKANDAR. EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT is a smaller film than all of these.

THAMMA will also cross 3 crore nett but this is a circuit where EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT can come out with a better lifetime number.

EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT did well on Wednesday as it collected 3 crore nett and collections are still less than 60% down from the Sunday which is a strong trend as the norm is a 60-65% drop on the Monday itself. This is also coming after an extended holiday period which makes the trend even better.

The film is now ahead of the bigger film, THAMMA, in most circuits and the ones which are less are mainly because they have a larger presence of the high end multiplexes and that too the PVR high ends. Even this could change in week two. The collections stand at 54.50 crore nett after nine days and its looking at an extended ten day week one total of 57 crore nett which is very good and this for a lifetime total would have been a result itself.

EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT continues to do well across all the Hindi mass circuits be it UP, Rajasthan, CI or Bihar. The film will be getting some single screens in week two which it should have got in week one but exhibitors were obviously going to go for the bigger film from a proven universe. Obviously its hindsight now but this film would have given them better collections. The film is a HIT but that second Friday is still important as the film can get a run for 2-3 weeks more if it really holds.

EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT has done good business in its first week and come out the surprise winner over Diwali as it collects 57 crore nett over the first week and this much more than what anybody would have expected for this film. Not only that, the film has held up well enough post Monday after the six day extended weekend.

The business is good all over though Mumbai circuit could have done better especially considering the Diwali period but this film can get away with that unlike a THAMMA which needed the biggest circuit to do much of the lifting. Delhi/UP, East Punjab, Rajasthan, CI and Bihar have all scored very good collections with the latter being excellent even on day ten.

EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT never had much expectations before release and even though the music was a big HIT you never know how that actually will translate with a films like this and that too up against a bigger film like THAMMA which dominated screen space. But after a couple of days it was about where it would stand with the likes of PARAM SUNDARI, SUNNY SANSKARI KI TULSI KUMARI and SATYAPREM KI KATHA. After one week, it has a shot to take them all out and all of them are bigger films.

PARAM SUNDARI it has already beaten, SUNNY SANSKARI KI TULSI KUMARI and BAD NEWZ will be done in the few days and that will leave SATYAPREM KI KATHA which it also has a chance to cross in the long run. For the record, PARAM SUNDARI, SUNNY SANSKARI KI TULSI KUMARI and BAD NEWZ are love stories with comedy while EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT and SATYAPREM KI KATHA are love stories and incline more towards drama.

EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT saw good hold on the second Friday with collections in the 2.25-2.50 crore nett range which is around 60% from the first Friday. This is a strong trend for a film which is doing better in the mass pockets. The film added some important singles screens on Friday which was a bonus.

The total collections of the film are now 59.50 crore nett and it is pretty much certain to hit the 75 crore nett mark. There could be a test for growth on Saturday as the likes of UP, Bihar, CP, CI and Rajasthan are contributing very strongly for the film. These areas don't grow much on Saturday especially for a film which is doing well.

If this film does not open the eyes of the industry as to what music can do then nothing will. The industry today needs to penetrate into the Hindi belt and with the biggest stars not quite holding the clout here anymore, it becomes all the more about the music be it the big film or the small film. Even if a big film is opening well, the music that penetrates into the Hindi states will make it open even better. Granted this film may have got a bonus with a Diwali release but take that out and its still a very good performance.

EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT showed growth of 40% as it collected around the 3.25 crore nett range. The growth is less than THAMMA but this is expected as it has a higher contribution from the mass circuits. This should reverse on Sunday as those mass circuits do better on Sunday. The film now stands at around 63 crore nett and the 75 crore nett number looks easy for the film. 

The growth of 40% may not be much for holdover films but with an extended first week and mass circuits out performing, this jump is actually a good result as it could have been less. The difference between this and THAMMA is that this film should add around 40-50% after its long first week while with THAMMA, it will be only 20-25%.

EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT did well in its second weekend collecting 9.25 crore nett which takes the film to 66.50 crore nett after its second weekend. The collections of the film were still around 10% less than the competition THAMMA but it has caught up considering the horror comedy did 53 crore nett over its first three days and EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT did 23 crore nett.

The film is ahead of THAMMA across the mass circuits in its second weekend and even a multiplex circuit like East Punjab also has better collections. Bihar has crossed 3 crore nett in thirteen days beating all films in the romantic genre be it love stories or rom coms with the exception of SAIYAARA. This includes a 125 crore nett plus film like TU JHOOTHI MAIN MAKKAAR.

The film was the only film apart THE TAJ STORY which showed any substantial growth on Sunday as the cricket affected the box office of all films. The target now is to get ahead of the daily collections of THAMMA. That film has had the BOGO offer on various days which has managed to keep it ahead of EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT but eventually it can edge past.
