Mumbai: Veteran actor Dharmendra was discharged from Breach Candy Hospital early on Wednesday. A statement from his family said he would “continue his recovery at home”.
Senior medical consultant Dr Pratit Samdani, who was in charge of his treatment at the hospital, told TOI “treatment will continue” at the actor’s home with regular doctor visits. Dharmendra had been in hospital for over two weeks, with unconfirmed reports saying he has age-related heart problems as well as pneumonia.
There were rumours about his health, prompting his son Sunny Deol and daughter Esha Deal to issue clarifications. Wednesday morning’s statement, too, said: “We kindly request the media and the public to refrain from any further speculation...”

HINDUSTAN TIMES (November 14, 2025)
Tension escalated outside the Deol residence in Mumbai’s Juhu on Thursday, just a day after Dharmendra (89) was discharged from Breach Candy Hospital. While returning from his morning walk, actor (son) Sunny Deol lashed out at the photographers stationed there for filming the family’s movements, accusing them of disregarding basic boundaries.
The comes just days after false news of Dharmendra’s death spread rapidly across news portals and social media, prompting the family to call out the reckless circulation of misinformation.
In the videos circulating on social media, the 68-year-old can be seen folding his hands before the photographers gathered outside, and urging them to “have some shame”. He said in Hindi, “Aap logon ko sharam aani chahiye. Aapke ghar mein maa-baap hain, bacche hain. Wo dekho, c******n ki tarah video liye jaa rahe ho. Sharam nahin aati?”
The outburst followed multiple instances of paps filming routine food deliveries at the residence on Wednesday.
By Thursday afternoon, filmmaker Karan Johar joined the chorus of criticism, slamming the “media circus” on Stories and calling the behaviour “disrespectful”, urging photographers to “leave the family alone”.
