What was meant to be a fun video turned into a frightening accident for actress Karishma Sharma. On Wednesday, the Ragini MMS: Returns actress, along with a friend, her hairdresser and a photographer, was at Andheri to board a Churchgate local when, in a moment of panic, she jumped off the moving train and was left injured and shaken.
Recounting the incident, she shares, “I wanted to shoot inside the train. While boarding, I saw my friends walking slowly and panicked when they didn’t get on after me. Out of fear, I jumped in the wrong direction just as the train started moving. I landed on the platform on my back, hit my head and blacked out. After that, I only remember flashes. I recall the police arriving, throwing up several times at the station, and then being rushed to the hospital.”
She admits the accident could have been far worse. She shares, “My friends later told me I had fallen dangerously close to the train. Had I slipped just an inch or two closer, I could have lost my legs or worse.”
The actress recalls how vulnerable the experience left her. She says, “I am not someone who cries easily, but that day I broke down on the phone while talking to my mother. She immediately flew in from Patna. I was discharged the next day, but had to return to the hospital because the pain persisted and I began forgetting things I had said to people. I have never been through something so painful. It’s truly traumatic.”
She also has a word of caution for commuters. “I would tell everyone, especially new travellers, to be more careful. Do not panic and do not jump off a moving train. I was extremely stupid to do that. Although I acted out of fear, some people do it for fun. One should not play around because life is so precious,” she says.

It’s been a tough few days for Karishma Sharma, who sustained injuries after she ‘jumped’ out of a moving train. The actor tells us: “I suffered multiple injuries and have memory lapse. I’m home but in a lot of pain. My mum has come to Mumbai to help me.”
While she’s been given a clean bill of health, the 31-year-old shares that doctors have “warned me to stay alert”: “I may have to go to the hospital if I am still in pain after two days as internal injuries take time to get detected.”
However, for Karishma, the most frightening aspect of this ordeal is that she has no memory of the incident: “The last thing I remember before I blacked out is that I was on the train, and my friends and team weren’t with me. I then woke up at the railway station’s medical centre and began throwing up. I couldn’t walk and they had to take me to the car in a wheelchair.”
A lady constable found her on the platform, and the actor says, “At that time, I didn’t realize that I could’ve just taken another train or joined my friends and team later on. I don’t know what triggered me, I just jumped.”
Ask if this incident has affected her professional life, and she says, “I was on my way to a shoot in Colaba and now I feel, I only have become content. I am supposed to get back to shooting, but I am in no condition to do so. I have committed them and I am not sure if I want to cancel it at the last minute.”
Reflecting on the demands of her profession, she continues, “Every profession comes with its pros and cons. As an actor, you can’t leave someone else in a lurch if you are not feeling well, but I hope I can manage the shoot as planned.”
Karishma, who was last seen in the music video Pyar by Abdu Rozik, and is known for films like Ek Villain Returns (2022) and Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (2015), says, “I don’t think I can go anywhere near a train station or travel by it anytime soon. The whole incident has traumatized me.”
