I could have lost my legs or worse-Karishma Sharma

Neha Maheshwri (BOMBAY TIMES; September 13, 2025)

What was meant to be a fun video turned into a frightening accident for actress Karishma Sharma. On Wednesday, the Ragini MMS: Returns actress, along with a friend, her hairdresser and a photographer, was at Andheri to board a Churchgate local when, in a moment of panic, she jumped off the moving train and was left injured and shaken.

Recounting the incident, she shares, “I wanted to shoot inside the train. While boarding, I saw my friends walking slowly and panicked when they didn’t get on after me. Out of fear, I jumped in the wrong direction just as the train started moving. I landed on the platform on my back, hit my head and blacked out. After that, I only remember flashes. I recall the police arriving, throwing up several times at the station, and then being rushed to the hospital.”

She admits the accident could have been far worse. She shares, “My friends later told me I had fallen dangerously close to the train. Had I slipped just an inch or two closer, I could have lost my legs or worse.”

The actress recalls how vulnerable the experience left her. She says, “I am not someone who cries easily, but that day I broke down on the phone while talking to my mother. She immediately flew in from Patna. I was discharged the next day, but had to return to the hospital because the pain persisted and I began forgetting things I had said to people. I have never been through something so painful. It’s truly traumatic.”

She also has a word of caution for commuters. “I would tell everyone, especially new travellers, to be more careful. Do not panic and do not jump off a moving train. I was extremely stupid to do that. Although I acted out of fear, some people do it for fun. One should not play around because life is so precious,” she says.

It’s been a tough few days for Karishma Sharma, who sustained injuries after she ‘jumped’ out of a moving train. The actor tells us: “I suffered multiple injuries and have memory lapse. I’m home but in a lot of pain. My mum has come to Mumbai to help me.”

While she’s been given a clean bill of health, the 31-year-old shares that doctors have “warned me to stay alert”: “I may have to go to the hospital if I am still in pain after two days as internal injuries take time to get detected.”

However, for Karishma, the most frightening aspect of this ordeal is that she has no memory of the incident: “The last thing I remember before I blacked out is that I was on the train, and my friends and team weren’t with me. I then woke up at the railway station’s medical centre and began throwing up. I couldn’t walk and they had to take me to the car in a wheelchair.”

A lady constable found her on the platform, and the actor says, “At that time, I didn’t realize that I could’ve just taken another train or joined my friends and team later on. I don’t know what triggered me, I just jumped.”

Ask if this incident has affected her professional life, and she says, “I was on my way to a shoot in Colaba and now I feel, I only have become content. I am supposed to get back to shooting, but I am in no condition to do so. I have committed them and I am not sure if I want to cancel it at the last minute.”

Reflecting on the demands of her profession, she continues, “Every profession comes with its pros and cons. As an actor, you can’t leave someone else in a lurch if you are not feeling well, but I hope I can manage the shoot as planned.”

Karishma, who was last seen in the music video Pyar by Abdu Rozik, and is known for films like Ek Villain Returns (2022) and Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (2015), says, “I don’t think I can go anywhere near a train station or travel by it anytime soon. The whole incident has traumatized me.”

He’s a scumbag, says Karishma Sharma on Andrew Tate’s ‘hook-up’ claims

He’s a scumbag: Karishma on Andrew Tate’s ‘hook-up’ claims

After a damning run-in with environmental activist Greta Thunberg, disgraced influencer Andrew Tate has received another pushback — this time from actor Karishma Sharma. Responding to a photo of hers with Tate and a video circulating on social media where he is seen talking about his “hook up incident” with the Ujda Chaman (2019) actor — Sharma has squarely slammed Tate’s claims.

“He is lying. We never hooked up. He is a scumbag spreading lies and just wants attention. I was really happy when he was arrested,” says Sharma about Tate, who is currently being detained by the Romanian police on charges of rape and human trafficking.

The 29-year-old recalls meeting Tate and his brother Tristan in 2014. “I happened to meet him at a party (in Mumbai). We got along, had a normal conversation. He told me he has an Indian mother,” Sharma shares, before revealing that once Tate learned that she was an actor, he insisted on taking a picture, the same one that has gone viral. “His texts on Instagram were very weird and inappropriate, so I blocked him once I realised he was a creep and constantly dissed women,” Sharma adds.

The video in contention got tongues wagging, giving Sharma anxiety. “It’s not a thing of shame if you ever hooked up with someone. I’d be more than okay to [admit]. After six years, out of nowhere, he posted this. It gave me a lot of anxiety as this never happened. I have so many messages just saying ‘Oh Andrew Tate’, and I have nothing to do with this guy. Even my friends questioned me. My heart just sank when my friend sent me that video,” Sharma opens up, adding that amid all this, her partner, actor Vivaan Shah has been supportive. “He said, ‘Don’t even care about him’,” she reveals.

Ragini MMS Returns team to reshoot sex scene with all-female crew

The makers of Ragini MMS were in for a rude shock last week when an intimate scene featuring Karishma Sharma, one of the leads of the web series, was leaked online. Realising that it forms a crucial part of the narrative, producer Ekta Kapoor decided to have the sequence reshot. Not just that, the reshoot came with a rider -- it would be shot with an all-female crew.

A source close to the production house reveals, "It was a production call. Since it is a sex scene, Ekta thought it best to have an all-women crew. That way, the artistes would feel more comfortable. She was also clear that no mobile phones would be allowed inside the studio."

The shoot took place at Film City in Goregaon on Thursday. While the series is helmed by Ken Ghosh, the scene in question was directed by one of his first assistant directors. Confirming the development, Ghosh tells mid-day, "We had several rehearsals before the sequence was filmed. There was a complete lockdown when it was being shot. We did everything to ensure that the environment for the girls was as comfortable as possible."

Ghosh adds that the legal team at Balaji is looking into the matter of the leak. "They are trying to track down the source. The production house is doing their best to ensure this doesn't happen again. It was disturbing for all of us, especially the actors." The series also stars Siddharth Gupta and Riya Sen.
