When the teaser of Nishaanchi dropped online last week, Anurag Kashyap’s fans enthusiastically noted that the gangster drama reminded them of Gangs Of Wasseypur (2012). Well, it looks like the film shares another similarity with the cult movie besides the genre. Sources tell us that Kashyap has mounted Nishaanchi — which marks the Bollywood debut of late Bal Thackeray’s grandson, Aaishvary Thackeray — as a two-part film. Not just that, the filmmaker shot the second instalment along with the first part in Lucknow earlier this year.
With Aaishvary in double roles and Vedika Pinto as the leading lady, Nishaanchi is slated to hit theatres on September 19. The sequel is expected to be big-screen bound in the coming months.
A source reveals, “The movie sees Aaishvary in double role of Babloo and Dabloo. While the first part delves into how they are forced into crime for money, the sequel will depict how the three principal characters — Babloo, Dabloo, and Rinku — undergo a transformation of sorts. The twin brothers’ contrasting personalities will change dramatically, and Rinku will become a gangster. Nishaanchi 2 will begin where the first part ends.”
Also starring Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Kumud Mishra, Nishaanchi is set in the hinterlands of north India and revolves around the complex relationship between the twins.
“Like he did with Gangs Of Wasseypur, Anurag shot this as one long movie, but divided into two parts for the theatrical release,” adds the source.
