MAA has seen a decent weekend though it could have done with a better trend over the weekend. The film has collected 17.50 crore nett which compares well with a bigger film like DEVA which did 19 crore nett. The collections are also good for female led film but they have come more because of genre than star presence.

The film has probably suffered somewhat in the bigger centres with SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR and F1: THE MOVIE being the first choices. It is a different target audience but it becomes about having screenings in the right time slots and that becomes difficult with two other strong films. Still the weekend is good enough if the film can get a hold on Monday and run well through the week. Circuits like West Bengal and Odisha saw the best business due to the genre.

MAA had a drop of around 50% as it collected in the 2.25-2.50 crore nett range which is a normal Monday drop. But with heavy flow of releases, it may not be strong enough as the second Friday is likely to feel the heat. If it was an open run then, it would have been a different story as this hold would have been enough to get a run. 

The first week of the film is looking to be around 26-27 crore nett and then it depends on whether the film can still add business as the total after week one will not be much. The plus for the film is the initial and it came with the competition. It shows that the genre is strong and if the film had better public reports it would have been an easy ride for this film.

MAA managed to get some decent growth on Tuesday due to the cheap rates as it collected 3 crore nett and now stands at 23 crore nett. This is a decent collections for Tuesday but as seen before, there is likely to be a big drop the next day as a bigger ratio of the weekday audience now going on Tuesday.

The first week is likely to be around 26.50 crore nett and the its all on the second Friday which will prove a tough hurdle for the film.
