Maa collects 26.25 cr in Week 1; F1: The Movie collects 33.75 cr

Box Office India Trade Network

MAA collected around 26 crore nett its first week which is a fair collection but it is dependent on the second week where it has to get into double digits which will be tough. The film did see a drop in collections post the cheap Tuesday offer and ended the week with collections which were low. The film did better in the East though even there the holds were not too strong.

The fate of the film depends on the second week but it will be tough due to the competition of many releases and also due to the reports of the film not being that good.

The collections of MAA are as follows.
Friday - 4,75,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 6,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 6,75,00,000 apprx
Monday - 2,50,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 3,00,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 1,75,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 1,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 26,25,00,000 apprx

F1: THE MOVIE has has done very well in week one as the film opened well and has held up very well from Monday with the figures in the Mon - Thu period being pretty much the same. These are HIT numbers for the film but showcasing will be an issue in week two as SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR holds shows it does not deserve and even METRO...IN DINO got a lot of shows as certain programmers have favoured the Hindi films. There is competition from JURASSIC WORLD REBIRTH which has also suffered in terms of showcasing.

If the film comes through on the second Friday, then the film can emerge with the deserving HIT status.

The collections of F1: THE MOVIE till date are as follows.
Paid Previews - 25,00,000 apprx
Friday - 5,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 7,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 33,75,00,000 apprx

Maa collects 23 cr in 5 days

Maa Box Office Collection Day 2: Progress Report On Kajol's Film
Box Office India Trade Network

MAA has seen a decent weekend though it could have done with a better trend over the weekend. The film has collected 17.50 crore nett which compares well with a bigger film like DEVA which did 19 crore nett. The collections are also good for female led film but they have come more because of genre than star presence.

The film has probably suffered somewhat in the bigger centres with SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR and F1: THE MOVIE being the first choices. It is a different target audience but it becomes about having screenings in the right time slots and that becomes difficult with two other strong films. Still the weekend is good enough if the film can get a hold on Monday and run well through the week. Circuits like West Bengal and Odisha saw the best business due to the genre.

The collections of MAA are as follows.
Friday - 4,75,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 6,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 6,75,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 17,50,00,000 apprx
-------------------------------------------
MAA had a drop of around 50% as it collected in the 2.25-2.50 crore nett range which is a normal Monday drop. But with heavy flow of releases, it may not be strong enough as the second Friday is likely to feel the heat. If it was an open run then, it would have been a different story as this hold would have been enough to get a run.

The first week of the film is looking to be around 26-27 crore nett and then it depends on whether the film can still add business as the total after week one will not be much. The plus for the film is the initial and it came with the competition. It shows that the genre is strong and if the film had better public reports it would have been an easy ride for this film.

The collections of MAA are as follows.
Friday - 4,75,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 6,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 6,75,00,000 apprx
Monday - 2,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 20,00,00,000 apprx
-------------------------------------------
MAA managed to get some decent growth on Tuesday due to the cheap rates as it collected 3 crore nett and now stands at 23 crore nett. This is a decent collections for Tuesday but as seen before, there is likely to be a big drop the next day as a bigger ratio of the weekday audience now going on Tuesday.

The first week is likely to be around 26.50 crore nett and the its all on the second Friday which will prove a tough hurdle for the film.

The collections of MAA are as follows.
Friday - 4,75,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 6,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 6,75,00,000 apprx
Monday - 2,50,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 3,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 23,00,00,000 apprx

Sitaare Zameen Par collects 106 cr in 9 days; Maa 10.75 cr in 2 days; F1: The Movie 12.25 cr

Box Office India Trade Network

SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR continued to dominate the box office thanks to its strong numbers in the big centres as it collected around 12 crore nett its second Saturday. The growth was around 90% which was expected. Considering the growth last week, it would have been no surprise if the film had jumped even more.

This now takes the collections of the film to around 106 crore nett and it remains to be seen how Sunday fares. Last week Sunday saw huge growth of over 30% but that will probably be tough to repeat this week. The film continues to have the best numbers in the NCR region leading to Delhi/UP being the best circuits even though collections in UP are just average. This average performance is also thanks to the bigger centres like Lucknow and Dehradun.

MAA showed a decent jump of 25% as it collected around 6 crore nett taking its two day number to 10.75 crore nett. The film was going to find it hard to put up huge growth due to the genre and some mass pockets putting up good numbers on day one. As expected, these places have not jumped on the second day. The growth mainly come from the bigger multiplexes which were up in the 30-35% range. The film is doing fair business and is dependent on the weekday holds.

F1: THE MOVIE is doing good business as it collects around 7 crore nett on its second day which takes the film to 12.25 crore nett. The Sunday growth will be limited like it is for most Hollywood releases and here it could be even be flat as a huge ratio of business is coming from the bigger multiplexes. However, the film is coming out with a weekend of somewhere around 20 crore nett which is a very good result for a sports drama based around Formula 1.

Maa collects 4.75 cr on Day 1; F1: The Movie 5.25 cr

Box Office India Trade Network

MAA has collected well on its first day with around 4.75 crore nett as some mass pockets recorded good collections due to the horror genre. The film had to contend with a strong holdover in SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR and the Hollywood film F1: THE MOVIE which made collections tougher in the bigger centres and bigger multiplexes as those films were first choice. Yet, it has come out with a good first day number.

The competition and horror factor has led MAA to higher ratio of collections from mass centres and these places like Odisha and CP Berar will find it tough to go higher on Saturday but they should go higher on Sunday. West Bengal is also very good at 35 lakhs plus collecting almost as much as East Punjab. The opening is easily the best for Kajol as a solo lead but the tougher part will be getting good growth on Saturday. The film also has higher numbers than SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR (Day 8) and F1: THE MOVIE in mass centres due to genre.

The Hollywood film F1: THE MOVIE opened well collecting around 5.25 crore nett as business was very good in the metros. This is a very good number for a sports drama. There is SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR dominating screenings at PVR Inox and this has probably come in the way of the film as it could have done a little more if SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR was not there. The film is bound to show growth on Saturday as its doing well in cinemas which have their best day on Saturday. The support is limited outside the metros but that is expected due to the genre of film.
