(Crisp) Movie Review: SAIYAARA by FENIL SETA

Saiyaara starts on a dramatic note. The entry scenes of both actor and actress are memorable and the film gets better as it moves forward. The interval block comes as a jolt. Kudos to the makers for hiding the crux of the film in the trailers. The second half also has its share of lovely moments with the finale being justified. On the flipside, a few scenes and dialogues are silly. Also, it gives a dejavu of some of the previous films of Mohit Suri like Aashiqui 2 and others. The sub plots of the secondary characters are half baked. Ahaan Panday makes a confident debut and watch out for his screen presence. It's electrifying. Aneet Padda is a surprise. She plays a challenging role with ease. Alam Khan (KV) leaves a huge mark. Geeta Agarwal (Vaani's mother), Rajesh Kumar (Vaani's father), Varun Badola (Krish's father), Shaad Randhawa (Prince), Sid Makkar (Vinit Rawal; manager) and Shaan R Grover (Mahesh Iyer) are decent. The music is superb, especially the title track and 'Dhun'. All in all, Saiyaara is a well-made romantic saga.
My rating - *** ½ out of 5!
