Diljit Dosanjh continues to find himself in hot water for going ahead with his film Sardaar Ji 3’s release overseas, which stars Pakistani actor Hania Aamir. And amid the growing voices against him is a demand to remove him from the upcoming film Border 2. While some reports suggest that Diljit is no longer part of the movie, we have exclusively learnt that there is no such development yet.
“There is no plan to replace or remove Diljit from Border 2. The announcement about his casting was made almost nine months ago, before the unfortunate occurrence (Pahalgam terror attack). Almost 50% of the film’s shooting is done, so making any change at this point is not possible,” says a source.
Recently, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) wrote a letter to the film’s makers, urging them to drop Diljit from the film. FWICE also wrote a letter to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah, urging them to withdraw the permission to shoot Border 2 at the National Defence Academy in Pune.
We reached out to co-producers Bhushan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta, but there was no response till the time of going to press.
NEERU DELETES SARDAAR JI 3 POSTS FROM INSTAGRAM
Neeru Bajwa, Diljit’s co-star in Sardaar Ji 3, has deleted all the social media posts about the film from her Instagram feed. However, she posted a song from the film on her Insta Story yesterday.
GURU’S X ACCOUNT DEACTIVATED
Singer Guru Randhawa recently took to X to share a cryptic post, which was perceived as a dig at Diljit. However, as of Friday, Guru’s X account was not available, implying that he deactivated it. Guru’s X post read: “Lakh pardesi hoyieee, Apna desh nhi bhandi daa. Jehre mulk da khayie, us da bura nhi mangi da (sic)”, which translates to “even if you become a foreigner, you should never betray your own country. One should never wish ill for the country that provides for them”.
