Last week, musician Amaal Mallik penned a lengthy Instagram note, revealing that he had been diagnosed with clinical depression. In the caption of the now-deleted post, Amaal shared that his family had held him back and blamed his parents for the growing distance between him and his brother, singer-composer Armaan Malik.

On Saturday, Amaal’s father, composer Daboo Malik, reacted to the news with an emotional post on social media. The 62-year-old shared a picture of Amaal giving him a kiss on the cheek. He simply captioned it, “I love you.”

Singer Sonu Nigam tried to cheer Daboo up, commenting, “Everything was fine, everything is fine, and everything will be fine.” Fans also reacted to the post; one Instagram user wrote, “Can’t wait to see you all back together as one.” Another read, “Everything will work out. Good things come to good people like you.”

In his post, Amaal had written: “My self worth has been diminished countless times by actions of near and dear ones that stole pieces of my soul.”
