(Crisp) Movie Review: NOVOCAINE by FENIL SETA

Novocaine is a film about a man who can't feel pain. This one-line premise instantly reminds one of Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota. But apart from this condition, the two films have nothing in common. The film starts on a sweet note and then the madness begins with the bank robbery sequence. The jokes land well and the action is quite entertaining. The twist is a shocker. But the climax is stretched. Also, the action gets too gory and disturbing needlessly. Jack Quaid delivers a superb performance and he underplays it neatly. Amber Midthunder (Sherry) is lovely and dominates the beginning portions. Jacob Batalon (Roscoe) has a late entry and yet is memorable. As for the antagonists, Ray Nicholson (Simon) leaves the maximum mark followed by Evan Hengst (Ben) and Conrad Kemp (Andre). Betty Gabriel (Detective Mincy) lends able support but Matt Walsh (Detective Coltraine) is nothing great. All in all, Novocaine makes for a nice one-time watch.
