(Crisp) Movie Review: BE HAPPY by FENIL SETA

Be Happy, which has released today on Amazon Prime Video, is the story of a daughter who's a gifted dancer and her 'khadoos' father. The first half is just okay and the manner in which the girl easily gets into the reality show is unconvincing. The title of the film is also very generic and unimaginative. Moreover, the trailer shows almost the entire first half and hence, the narrative gets unpredictable. Thankfully, the promo didn't give out much of the second half and that's where the film makes the maximum impact. Even here, the makers falter. The Ganpati song stands out individually but it's forced into the film. Also, the recital of a poem in the end credits gives a very heavy feeling to the viewers. Thankfully, the emotional moments and uplifting finale ensure that the audience has a good time. Abhishek A Bachchan delivers yet another superb performance. He's especially great in the second half. Inayat Verma shines and dominates several scenes with her performance and dance. Nasser is adorable. Nora Fatehi leaves a huge mark. Harleen Sethi is lovely in a cameo. Johny Lever is funny while Sanchit Chanana (Prem) is quite good. All in all, Be Happy is an entertaining and moving film that can be seen with your family.
