Early on Monday, actor Vikrant Massey penned a note on Instagram, hinting that he would be stepping away from acting projects “until time deems right.”

Recently seen in The Sabarmati Report, he wrote, “Hello. The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support (folded hands emoji). But as I move forward, I realize its time to recalibrate and go back home.” He added, “So, coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time... Last 2 movies and many a years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between. (sic).”

Shocked fans were quick to comment on social media, ruing the move. “Why would you do that..? There are hardly any actors like you. We need some good cinema,” one user said, while a second comment read, “Tbh it’s such a brave decision to do it at this time when your career could potentially get bigger. So my respect to him for doing what seems right at the moment (sic).”

However, others are convinced that there is more than meets the eye, drawing parallels between Massey’s use of the word ‘recalibrate’ and his upcoming film, Zero Se Restart. “Is it a gimmick or any upcoming project or really u retiring from movies (sic).” one fan asked. Another agreed, adding, “It doesn’t make sense”.

It is unclear whether the actor, who began acting in 2007, is on a temporary hiatus or retired. We reached out to Massey for comment, but did not get a response till the time of going to press.
