The makers of the TV show Anupamaa have addressed the tragic death of a crew member on set, calling it a “human error”. The incident occurred on November 14 when apprentice camera attendant Ajit Kumar, sent by the camera vendor, mistakenly picked up both a light rod and camera while not wearing footwear, resulting in an electric shock. Despite immediate medical help, he passed away.

In a statement released by producer Rajan Shahi’s production house, they expressed their sorrow and provided details of the mishap. “The DOP present on the set said that it was purely a human error. He was immediately taken to the hospital and given instant medical help but, unfortunately, we lost him. It was deeply saddening,” the statement read. They also shared that the production company covered the deceased’s medical expenses and arranged for his family’s travel from Patna.

The production further confirmed that all necessary legal formalities were promptly handled, and the deceased’s insurance will be disbursed to his nominated beneficiary. Addressing safety concerns raised by rumours, the statement urged, “We would like to request rumour mongers with certain vested interests to stop spreading false rumours; otherwise, we will take stringent legal action as per the law of the land.”
