VICKY VIDYA KA WOH WALA VIDEO collected 18 crore nett in its first weekend which is below the mark as the film could not benefit from the Dussehra period. The Sunday drop was always likely as the film did not grow much on Saturday which was a holiday. The hope was that maybe Dussehra played out differently but it was not to be.

The killer for the film is the Mumbai circuit as it could just not recover from collections on the first day being hit by the last day of Navratri. The film has far better collections in Delhi/UP as compared to Mumbai circuit which is rare for a major release. Delhi/UP is around 5 crore nett while Mumbai is likely to be just 4.25 crore nett.

The film has only collected 10-15% more than JIGRA and it should be much more due to the genre of VICKY VIDYA KA WOH WALA VIDEO and JIGRA just not being for a market like Gujarat. If a family comedy is not able to score in Gujarat, then its a tough ride and the only reason that can be there is the 'Woh Wala Video' angle which keeps the conservative audience away. There maybe nothing in the film but its there in the title which possibly keeps the families away.

The minor victory is that its scored over the competition in JIGRA in India but the bigger context hardly matters when collections are this low and the trend is also weak.
