Vikrant Massey’s filmography has seen a unique trend, with nine of his last 10 releases debuting directly on OTT platforms, including his most recent projects Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba and Sector 36.

When asked about the appeal of digital platforms, the 37-year-old actor notes, “There are many permutations and combinations, and it is beyond an actor’s purview whether a film will release in theatres or on OTT. That’s the producer’s prerogative. Regardless of the medium, I work with honesty. But one advantage of OTT is its ability to reach a larger audience instantly, providing global outreach. This motivates us to elevate our craft to match international cinema.”

Regarding the less stringent censorship on OTT, he acknowledges, “That’s partly true. However, there’s a misconception that OTT has no censorship, because there are clear guidelines to follow on this medium as well.”

Talking about his recent projects, where he had to portray two complex characters in succession, Massey adds how it has allowed him to become more self-reflective. He explains, “The more you explore yourself as a person, the more you’re inclined to take on such roles. Portraying these characters reveals insights about yourself. For instance, while researching serial killers for Sector 36, I discovered a common thread of childhood trauma. It highlighted the profound impact of my early experiences.”
