(Crisp) Movie Review: GO NONI GO by FENIL SETA

Go Noni Go is based on Twinkle Khanna's short story 'Salaam Noni Appa' and is also produced by her. It features her mother Dimple Kapadia in the lead. The film rests on some sweet moments, especially between the widow and her yoga teacher. The conflict in the tale is believable. The ending might seem clichéd at first but it turns out to be hatke and works. On the flipside, some jokes fail to raise laughs. One doesn't get to know what Appa does for a living and she is able to afford such a huge house. She suddenly becomes a miser after a point, and it's quite awkward and unnecessary. Dimple Kapadia looks stunning and plays the lead role with ease. Manav Kaul is apt for the part and is superb, as always. Ayesha Raza is lovely while Athiya Shetty delivers a fair performance. Rohan Mehra leaves a mark in a cameo and so does Vidya Balan's father P R Balan as the bank manager. Vibhawari Deshpande (Manav Kaul’s wife) and Ankit Bisht (Manav’s son Shailesh) are superb. Karan Johar is okay as the voice of Basanti the car. All in all, Go Noni Go is a nice slice-of-life film and worth watching.
