Stree 2 Box Office Collection Day 3: Shraddha Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao's Film Is A few Crores Away From 150
Box Office India Trade Network

STREE 2 has bought in crazy collections on day one as mass centres record figures much higher than estimated yesterday and the film collects around 54-55 crore nett on day one and there is another 8.75 crore nett from paid previews to take the film to an insane 63.50 crore nett apprx so far.

The film has beaten the likes of PATHAAN, JAWAN and ANIMAL in many of the mass circuits and even GADAR 2 it is ahead in pockets. Gujarat/Saurashtra is simply crazy in the scenario today as it may cross the 5 crore nett mark and this year collections here have been extremely dull. Thanks to the Mumbai circuit, the collections will be in the 15 crore nett range.

East Punjab was expected to be not that great but here the film has crossed 4.50 crore nett which is better than JAWAN, PATHAAN and GADAR 2. Delhi/UP is also excellent at around 11 crore nett but that was expected. East India is also extraordinary as Bihar collections may end up at close to 1.75 crore nett.

In terms of footfalls, the film has the highest post pandemic collections on the first day and there are no words to explain these numbers as film looks on course for historic success on the strength of these mass circuits. In terms of numbers, it will be the third best ever. The box office glory is when these heavily populated states collect big and STREE 2 has done that as the each goes to another level. Even for South films, the glory is when these pockets collect, like BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION or KGF - CHATER 2 which puts them on a different pedestal.

The weakest numbers are in Nizam/Andhra and Tamil Nadu/Kerala. But that is expected for a film doing so huge in mass Hindi circuits and these should hold well especially Nizam/Andhra. There was also competition in this circuit. The industry at last has a genuinely great Friday this year thanks to STREE 2.
----------------------------------------
STREE 2 has recorded the third highest opening day ever for a Hindi film behind JAWAN and PATHAAN and beaten the likes of ANIMAL and KGF - CHAPTER 2. It is the sixth film to get over the 50 crore nett mark and this has come with a clash with 2 films though it has the benefit of a huge holiday.

The last film to hit the 50 crore nett mark was ANIMAL but STREE 2 has beaten that almost everywhere apart from South India. The only other circuit which was less was East Punjab but to be just 40 lakh less there than a film like ANIMAL, which has a heavy Punjabi flavour, is actually phenomenal. The rest of the circuits are comfortably better for STREE 2, especially East India.

It is the opposite in the South as the Vanga factor took ANIMAL to a crazy level in Nizam/Andhra and Mysore and also as STREE 2 is more of a Hindi circuit film, South is always going to be lower. Gujarat/Saurashtra is phenomenal and better than ANIMAL, JAWAN and PATHAAN.

The numbers are such against the size of the film that you can already call it a BLOCKBUSTER. The Independence Day period is delievering some huge megahits as last year it was GADAR 2 going crazy at the box office.

The top opening days for Hindi films are as follows (Hindi language only)
1. Jawan - 63,87,00,000
2. Pathaan - 55,72,00,000
3. Stree 2 - 53,25,00,000 apprx
4. KGF - Chapter 2 - 52,39,00,000
5. Animal - 51,48,00,000
6. War - 50,61,00,000
7. Thugs Of Hindostan - 48,27,00,000
8. Bharat - 41,62,00,000
9. Tiger 3 - 40,88,00,000
10. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion - 40,73,00,000

STREE 2 had another outstanding day as it collected 31.50 crore nett which is a drop of around 40% from the first day. This is a fantastic hold as its coming from a huge national holiday into a working day. If the drop was 50%, even that would be a good hold. The film has so far collected 93 crore nett including paid previews.

The falls were bigger in the mass centers as they had put up crazy numbers on the first day and were always going to fall more. There are falls in places like Gujarat, Bihar and Central markets but they were phenomenal on day one. Hence, the falls were expected and these regions are sure to do huge numbers on Sunday.

The film held up better in the bigger centers as national chains are showing a drop of 35% only. The day two numbers confirm the BLOCKBUSTER status of the film and it remains to be seen if it goes higher. The film only has a budget of a little more than 100 crore and is competing with the big budget extravaganzas in terms of numbers. This shows that its not just about the budget but story and relatability with the audience and of course being a franchise film helps.

STREE 2 is also scoring very well in overseas and should have a weekend of around $4 million. Basically the extended weekend worldwide share will roughly cover its costs and there will be a lot more to come from India as well as Overseas.

The collections of STREE 2 in two days are as follows.
Paid Previews - 8,75,00,000
Thursday - 53,25,00,000
Friday - 31,50,00,000
TOTAL - 93,50,00,000 apprx

STREE 2 is simply going bonkers at the box office as Saturday shows a huge jump of 40% plus and it collects over 44 crore nett. This puts it in a position to challenge the day one collections on Sunday though day one was a huge national holiday. The Saturday collection is only 15% down on the first day. Basically the appreciation is huge across the core Hindi markets.

The numbers are less in the South but its a Hindi belt based horror comedy. So, for the genre, South has always been less. Anytime its dialogue based comedy in a film, South underperforms. This will make little difference to the film as last year GADAR 2 was also very low in South compared with core areas but still put up huge numbers.

The film is a juggernaut in Delhi/UP, East Punjab, CP, CI Rajasthan, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha and Gujarat/Saurashtra. It will be no surprise if some of these areas challenge the biggest films in these circuits. Maharashtra, Nizam/Andhra, Assam and Mysore could be better (the latter as that circuit has really gone up for Hindi films but if we take genre then even Mysore is superb). Tamil Nadu/Kerala is poor.

There is no doubt Sunday going to see another phenomenal day and then this film has Raksha Bandhan week where the holiday factor last for a few days in some states. The film is sure to benefit from this especially as its doing so well in the Hindi belts where the Raksha Bandhan factor lasts.

The collections of STREE 2 in three days are as follows.
Paid Previews - 8,75,00,000
Thursday - 53,25,00,000
Friday - 31,50,00,000
Saturday - 44,50,00,000
TOTAL - 1,38,00,00,000 apprx
