Actor Arshad Warsi’s candid admission of disliking actor Prabhas’ characterisation in the film has triggered a viral Mahabharata
HINDUSTAN TIMES (August 20, 2024)
Actor Arshad Warsi has found himself in a soup. In a viral clip from a recent podcast, Warsi was seen saying that actor Prabhas’ character in Kalki 2898AD felt like a “joker” to him.
“Prabhas — I am really sad — he was like a joker. Why? I want to see a Mad Max. I want to see (actor) Mel Gibson over there. Tumne usko kya bana diya yaar. Kyon karte ho aisa mujhe nahin samajh mein aata,” the actor told host Samdish Bhatia, expressing his disappointment over the characterization of Bhairava, a bounty hunter suggested to be a reincarnation of Karna from the Mahabharata.
Prabhas’ fanbase wasn’t taking this lightly at all, and started bombarding Warsi’s Instagram posts. “Prabhas movie collection >>>>>Arshad warsi family net worth,” said @b_likeyash_2006.
@_loki_x10__ commented, “Arshad Warsi lifetime collection is equal to prabhas remuneration (sic).” Many called him offensive names, too. manoh_justin_2427 wrote: “Don’t mess with prabhas be careful brother ur Instagram is private be careful with prabhas fans (sic)”.
Interestingly, some fans on Reddit attempted to explain that Warsi’s comments were about the characterization. “He was actually talking about Prabhas’ character, Bhairava, that how they did not wrote the comedic scenes of Prabhas neatly (sic),” said @BanishedBruno.
Kalki 2898AD, also starring Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Hassan, released on June 27 and breached the Rs. 1,000-crore benchmark globally.
In the same conversation, Warsi also praised Bachchan’s performance in the film. We tried reaching Warsi for a comment, but didn’t hear from him till the time of going to press.
