KALKI 2898 AD (Hindi) ran riot on Sunday with collections of 38.50 crore nett which is a huge 50% jump from the day before. The fact that the film actually managed to go up on the second day especially with growth coming in Maharashtra meant this was always going to be possible. On Sunday, Mahrashtra has seen phenomenal growth again

The little trepidation for the film has been the futuristic angle (dystopian) as mass pockets in the home market Nizam/Andhra have not been as high as they should. So, there was always the fear that mass Hindi circuits could also face similar problems but Sunday pushes those fears out of the window as the likes of Rajasthan and CP Berar showed 80-90% growth from the previous day. No doubt, the Hindi mass circuits are different from Nizam/Andhra but generally in India, futuristic films have struggled in the past. This film will also change that theory.

The film has a 107 crore nett so far in three days and a strong hold is on the cards and this means trouble for the releases over the next few weeks as the acceptance is there across the board. The next release AURON MEIN KAHAN DUM THA will find it tough. It may actually have to move to get the release it would like as the situation today is multiplex programmers favour a strong holdover since only a few films work. Pre pandemic, when collections were better, the new release was favoured. 

The 200 crore nett mark will be a cakewalk for KALKI 2898 AD in Hindi and its likely to go much higher and it will be no surprise if its the biggest grosser in Hindi within ten days.
