(Crisp) Movie Review: TWISTERS by FENIL SETA

Twisters is a standalone to the much-loved film, Twister. There’s very little connection with the first part. Hence, one can see the sequel without watching it, though it's highly recommended that one sees the 1996 flick as it’s too good. The sequel starts on a chilling note. The film then falls as the makers spend time on the characters, their bond with each other and the build up. The film even gets a bit repetitive. But after the interval, there’s an interesting twist. The climax, meanwhile, is quite nail-biting. Daisy Edgar-Jones (Kate Cooper) shoulders the lead role with panache. Glen Powell (Tyler Owens) looks quite dashing and his mere presence elevates a scene. Performance-wise, he's first rate. Anthony Ramos (Javi) does well though his hairstyle could have been better. From the supporting cast, Harry Hadden-Paton (Ben) leaves a mark. Brandon Perea (Boone), Maura Tierney (Cathy; Kate's mother), Sasha Lane (Lilly), Daryl McCormack (Jeb), Kiernan Shipka (Addy), Nik Dodani (Praveen) and Tunde Adebimpe (Dexter) are quite good. All in all, Twisters is a great, mainstream entertainer. Try watching the film on as big a screen as possible, preferably IMAX.
My rating - *** ½ out of 5!
