Punjabi actor Sonam Bajwa enjoys a strong following not only in the Punjab film industry but also in Bollywood. She frequently travels to Mumbai for work commitments and is well-acquainted with the intense paparazzi culture there.

While she finds it daunting to be followed by cameramen on various occasions, Bajwa recognizes that they are simply doing their job. In a light-hearted manner, she remarks,  “Iske liye mujhe bhi theek thaak kapde pehen ke jana padta hai Mumbai but otherwise toh mann karta hai pyjame mein jaaun.”

On a more serious note, the 34-year-old adds, “Iss cheez ko bhi log consume kar rahe hai, iss cheez ki bhi demand hai waha pe. Warna itni garmi mein sara din wahaan baithna asaan nahi hai.”

Bajwa has appeared in Bollywood with films such as Bala (2019), while also being among the highest-paid female actors in Punjabi cinema, known for movies such as Carry On Jatta, Puaada, and the recent one Kudi Haryane Val Di. Amid ongoing financial scrutiny in the Hindi film industry, with producers, including Karan Johar, discussing rising production costs and scrutinizing star entourages, the actor prefers to travel with a minimal team to avoid unnecessary expenses.

“It’s a personal choice. Almost 99% of the time, I do my own makeup and styling. Mere do bande toh yahi kam ho gaye. I feel, as a responsible actor, if one can help the producer reduce the cost, you must do that,” she ends.
