Recently, actor and voice-over (VO) artiste Saba Azad posted a series of Instagram stories revealing the reason behind the sudden halt in her VO projects. Expressing her frustration, she shared how about two-and-a-half years ago, she stopped getting VO assignments after she started dating actor Hrithik Roshan.

“Are we really still living in the dark ages where we assume a woman in a relationship with a successful partner no longer has to put food on her own table?? Or pay her rent and bills? Or take pride in her work and take care of herself and her family??? This is sadly a one-dimensional patriarchal and regressive mindset,” the 38-year-old actor, who started dating Roshan in 2020, shared.

Clarifying this statement further, she explained how an old friend and director told her that she doesn’t need to work anymore since he assumed that she “wouldn’t like to do something like a voice-over anymore...given...”.

Refuting such assumptions, Azad clarified, “Being a voice actor is one of my three careers and has been one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had creatively monetarily (sic).”

She added, “I never told anyone I am quitting, never said I am disinterested. I never altered my session fee, nothing was different from my end so what changed? (sic).”
