Tabu has been cast in a pivotal role in Dune: Prophecy, the prequel series to the Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films that are a global hit. According to a report in Variety, Tabu will play Sister Francesca, who is, “strong, intelligent, and alluring, Sister Francesca leaves a lasting impression in her wake. Once a great love of the Emperor, her return to the palace strains the balance of power in the capital.”

Tabu has previously starred in international projects such as The Namesake, Life Of Pi, and A Suitable Boy. The makers are yet to announce a premiere date of Dune: Prophecy, which also stars Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, and Shalom BruneFranklin.

In the Dune universe, the Bene Gesserit are like space witches who meticulously plan everything to influence the universe’s politics and power. In the first movie, we see Villeneuve’s take on the Bene Gessirit with the Reverend Mother (Charlotte Rampling) and Paul’s mother (Rebecca Ferguson). The storyline of Dune : Prophecy opens 10,000 years before the coming of Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet). It is about the journey of two Harkonnen sisters who fight evil forces and become the founders of the Bene Gesserit sect. Tabu has been cast as one of the sisters.
