Putting an end to rumours, actor Imran Khan confirmed that he is divorced from mixologist Avantika Malik. Also opening up about his relationship with actor-artist Lekha Washington, he admitted that they grew closer during the pandemic.

“I’m divorced and have been separated since February 2019. Lekha and I grew close a year-and-a-half after I had been separated from Avantika and almost a year after she had separated from her partner, not husband, as it has been widely reported,” he clarified.

Reacting to the scrutiny Washington faced after Khan’s first marriage ended, the Delhi Belly (2011) actor said that such narratives are stemmed in misogyny. “There’s this narrative of Lekha being a homewrecker. [It] infuriates me because not only is it misogynistic but it also takes away my agency as an individual,” he said.

Khan and Malik tied the knot in 2011 and became parents to their daughter, Imara, in 2014. While rumours of their separation began in 2019, it was only reported last year that the couple had decided to part ways.
