I don’t keep personal expectations from the film industry, only professional: Siddhant

After a long period of not being on screen, Siddhant Chaturvedi got a much-needed hit in the form of Kho Gaye Hum Kahaan last year. A direct-to-OTT release, it fetched him good reviews, something the actor had been craving for since Gully Boy in 2019. In the actor’s next, “both the male and female protagonists have become so relevant in the last three months”. However, he is waiting for the official announcement to take place.

With things finally looking up for him, ask if his industry peers supported him when his movies failed to connect with the audience and the 30-year-old says, “I don’t keep personal expectations from the industry, only professional ones. Everybody has been very nice. When I went to parties, they spoke to me and said, ‘It happens to everybody’.”

Chaturvedi adds, “I spoke to Ayushmann (Khurrana, actor) and he said that the one good thing is this phase happened at such an early age, now I will know how to handle things [at a later stage]. He told me, ‘Right now, phoonk phoonk ke kadam rakho’.”

“Surprised” by actors Vicky Kaushal and Ranbir Kapoor’s support to sail through tumulous waters, the actor shares, “Ranbir doesn’t go to parties. But, he spoke to me at length when he called me over to [his house] to chill, I told him, ‘I don’t know bhai, kuchh chal nahi raha’. He said, ‘Keep working, Don’t get agitated about other people doing 100 other things or being seen’. That is his way of doing things. Ranbir and Alia (Bhatt, actor) are the only two people who messaged me after Gehraiyaan (2022).”

Kapoor told Chaturvedi that he thought his film, “Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year (2009) would be his Munna Bhai MBBS (2003)”. However, the film did not make it big at the box office. So, Kapoor shared one piece of advice with the Phone Bhoot (2022) actor: “He said, ‘Jab tu expect nahi kar raha hoga, tab chalegi film’. I was not expecting much from Kho Gaye... I said, ‘Okay, we have made it for a target group, those people will give it love’. I didn’t know so many people would like that film,” he ends.
