Fighter Box Office Collection Day 4: Hrithik Roshan-Deepika Padukone's Film Packs 'Impressive Total' In Extended Weekend
Box Office India Trade Network

FIGHTER did reasonable business on Saturday as it collected 26 crore nett which takes the film to 87 crore nett over the first three days. The trend is also normal post a big national holiday and its pretty much the same as an established hit HANUMAN (Hindi) which has shown a similar drop with far lesser screens.

The issue the film faces are the collections in the Hindi mass circuits which jumped well on the big national holiday on Friday but have dropped more on Saturday, bringing them back down to lower levels. A circuit like CI is yet to reach the GADAR 2 day one total in 3 days and that too with a national holiday being one of these days.

The film is very lopsided to the bigger multiplexes and this can be due to the 3D version too. The best circuits are Delhi/UP (due to NCR) and Mysore and when the latter is leading for an HINDI action film, then it does make things harder. Also the mass pockets which are not behaving well may not have seen this as action film as its about planes and pilots which is probably what they don't regard as action.

The film did whatever it had to do on Saturday but the tougher fight is Sunday as here, you need support for the mass circuits which have underperformed till date.

The three day numbers of FIGHTER are as follows.
Thursday - 23,00,00,000 apprx
Friday - 38,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 26,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 87,50,00,000 apprx
------------------------------------------------
FIGHTER managed to do decent business over its extended first weekend of around 114 crore nett but it was mainly thanks to national holiday on Friday which propelled the collections while the other days stayed at modest levels as against the expectations for the film. If these numbers had come over a three period even with a national holiday, then they would be good.

The film has put up good numbers in the NCR belt and South but it was a dull performance across the mass belts be it Rajasthan, Gujarat, CI or Bihar. This is why Sunday behaved like it would for a more niche film and showed limited growth. East Punjab and Mysore had similar collections at a bit under 10 crore nett which is low number for East Punjab especially considering its a border terrorism film which should do better in North.

The crucial day was the Sunday and if it could have got a 20% jump, it would have been a different story as despite the average numbers it would have been a stronger trend giving hope for the Monday after that. But the Sunday fell flat.

The industry needs the big films that score in the mass circuits if they are going to get the expected or better numbers and this is where FIGHTER has failed as did DUNKI and even TIGER 3 to an extent.

The box office collections of FIGHTER till date are as follows.
Thursday - 23,00,00,000 apprx
Friday - 38,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 26,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 27,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 1,14,50,00,000 apprx
------------------------------------------------
FIGHTER did well in Overseas as it collected $6.75 million in overseas without a release in any of the Gulf countries which means a fair value of $8 million at least taking a low number for Gulf potential due to the subject of the film.

The best performance was US/Canada with $4.1 million coming over the four days. The big three circuits (US/Canada, UK and Australia) gave a solid combined total of around $5.5 million. The United Kingdom collected £600k which is a good collection also as it got a 15 certification and its a country with a heavy Pakistan Muslim contribution who would have kept away from this film.

The worldwide number for the film in four days is 193 crore and if we take three days, then it challenges WAR for the highest worldwide opening as that was 150 crore. This is in the similar range but with a possible 10 crore at least from Gulf.

The worldwide numbers of FIGHTER after the first weekend are as follows.
India - 137.50 Crore (114.50 nett)
Overseas - 56 crore ($6.75 million)
TOTAL - 193.50 crore
------------------------------------------------
FIGHTER took a hit on Monday as it collected 7.25 crore nett and this was on the cards as business was pretty much flat on Sunday and a film like this with such a wide release like cannot have a flat on Sunday. This takes the numbers to 122 crore nett apprx in five days.

The film has faced rejection in the Hindi belts and that was apparent on day one as some circuits were unbelievably low. The hope was they could do better post the big holiday as then at least that audience would give it a go but it was not be. The film has a huge ratio of business coming from the national chains (PVR Inox, Cinepolis) and this ratio is more like a content film or a rom com rather than an action film which means its only really been the urban audience interested in this film.

Normally with such a big drop on Monday, it would be totally lights out with the film fizzling out in the second week. But post pandemic, there is very little competition and so, it could put up some numbers up over the second weekend. Also an accepted film to an extent like HANUMAN has seen a bigger drop than FIGHTER on Monday. So, this big drop for FIGHTER could be a little down to the box office scenario post a holiday weekend because at least HANUMAN should not have dropped this much being a film which has worked well and running in less shows.

The rejection is there for FIGHTER especially with the masses but if the film can hold better over the next few days, there is still a chance it can get a 30 crore nett week two which is somewhat respectable though hardly alters its fate.

The box office collections of FIGHTER till date are as follows.
Thursday - 23,00,00,000 apprx
Friday - 38,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 26,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 27,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 7,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 1,21,75,00,000 apprx
------------------------------------------------
FIGHTER has seen a drop in collections on Monday in overseas but its not too bad. The film will show far better results in overseas with a comfortable $10 million plus number which could even go to $12 million depending on the next two weekends which would be a fair result for a film which will be seen as anti Pak by the Muslim audience. Also, these collections would be coming without the Gulf market.

The film could have a UAE release soon but it will be token gesture and not much can be expected as weekend is gone and reports from India will be have filtered through. The film did around $215k in US/Canada on Monday while UK was £45 and Australia a decent A$80k. Basically, the overseas business seems BRAHMASTRA level on fair value at the moment and could turn out a little better.

The Monday overseas numbers were close to $400k which takes the film over $7 million to around  $7.1 million. The first week will be around $8 million and then its down to the second weekend and maybe some added business from UAE as well.

Overseas has to be excellent to make a real difference to the overall picture but at least it has some fair results. Considering the zone of the film, it could have easily done worse than India but surprisingly it has fared better in Overseas.
