Deepika Padukone, having ventured into the realm of OTT with her film Gehraiyaan last year, is now reportedly delving deeper into the space. Recent speculations suggest that the actor is in discussions for an upcoming web project that digs into India’s drug mafia culture.

According to a close source, “Deepika is currently engaged in discussions with Netflix for a grand action thriller. She has seen the power and reach of the medium and is eager to explore it further.”

The project is reportedly in its early stages, and the insider reveals, “This project will explore the drug mafia narrative in India, presenting it from a female perspective. It promises riveting action sequences and intense storytelling. Deepika is eager to commit to this endeavour but is evaluating its alignment with her existing schedule.”

The actor has notably made waves in action cinema this year, starring in Pathaan alongside Shah Rukh Khan. Her cameo in Jawan gained praise, and she has also joined Rohit Shetty’s cop universe as Lady Singham, besides Siddharth Anand’s Fighter.

However, countering reports that Padukone is only inclined towards action-packed roles, a source says, “No concrete commitments for her next project have been finalized.”
