Animal Box Office Collection Day 4: Ranbir Kapoor's Film Sets Record - Biggest Monday Ever
Box Office India Trade Network

ANIMAL had a huge first weekend of almost 170 crore nett with both Saturday and Sunday going up 8-10% despite having restrictions with capacity due to length and clash. The overall growth was not huge on Sunday but in mass pockets, the film went bonkers with huge numbers.

The film looks to have got the highest ever single day in East Punjab, CI, Bihar and possibly even in Gujarat. The last one is huge as its a very conservative state but collections went out of the roof on Sunday and its reported that there was a huge female turnout as well. When this happens for an 'A' certificate film in a state like Gujarat, it means there is no stopping the film. Its pretty much like the certification not meaning much. Basically, despite the violence and sex in the film, it has found universal acceptance all over and the film has worked in totality. The film is going to run super strong post the weekend.

The lags in the box office are West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The last two named are poor but also don't really matter much for the box office of Hindi films. However, West Bengal could have been a bit better but there will be a good chance that the circuit will hold up better in the long run. The film has been rejected in Tamil Nadu/Kerala. East Punjab, Delhi/UP, CI, Bihar, Nizam/Andhra and Mysore are the standouts.

The three day numbers of ANIMAL in Hindi are as follows.
Friday - 52,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 56,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 61,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 1,69,50,00,000 apprx

The film also has a dubbed version in Telugu which has done extremely well in Nizam/Andhra over the first weekend collecting 22.50 crore nett. The total collection in Nizam/Andhra in all languages was a huge 37 crore nett.

Below are the Telugu version numbers from Nizam/Andhra
Friday - 8,55,00,000
Saturday - 6,81,00,000
Sunday - 7,08,00,000
TOTAL - 22,44,00,000

The film collected a further. 3.50 crore nett in dubbed versions be in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam for a dubbed total of 25 crore nett for the first weekend. This means a weekend of around 195 crore nett in all languages.

ANIMAL has notched up phenomenal collections in Nizam/Andhra with almost 39 crore nett over the first three days in all formats. The film was strong from the first day in Nizam and Andhra and Marathwada also came into the picture on Sunday with a solid 80 lakhs nett.

The film has beaten JAWAN which did business of 34 crore nett in FOUR days though there, the Hindi contribution was 19 crore nett over the FOUR days. The awareness about the director has helped huge in Nizam/Andhra and not just in Telugu but Hindi as the audience which understands Hindi would watch the original film. The value of the director will shoot up huge in the Hindi circuits now after ANIMAL.

In this market, the film is likely to be the highest grosser ever in Hindi beating JAWAN and PATHAAN and also probably the highest grossing non South film beating AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER. If the film really holds, it will have an outside chance of 100 crore nett in Nizam/Andhra which not many Telugu films do in the state in actual collections. The collections of ANIMAL in Nizam Andhra are as follows.

Friday
Hindi - 6,09,00,000
Telugu - 8,55,00,000

Saturday
Hindi - 4,80,00,000
Telugu - 6,81,00,000

Sunday
Hindi - 5,52,00,000
Telugu - 7,08,00,000

TOTAL
Hindi - 16,41,00,000
Telugu - 22,24,00,000

GRAND TOTAL - 38,65,00,000
---------------------------------------
ANIMAL has collected huge numbers in overseas with collections around $12.75 million including collections from the Telugu version. The standout was the North American market with over $6 million and $5.4 million coming from the Hindi version. The rest from Telugu is in itself a huge number. The next best was Australia which did business of over A$2 million

The United Kingdom was an excellent £700k while Gulf also recorded huge collections of $2.25 million but this is comparatively less than other films. The Khans rule in this market and outside the Khans, the only film better than ANIMAL is WAR and that is only by a little margin.

The worldwide numbers of the film area a huge 303 crore and that is Hindi alone. This is the third 300 crore worldwide weekend after PATHAAN and JAWAN. The film also has another 38 crore worldwide coming from regional versions which gives the film a worldwide total of 341 crore on all formats.

India - 205.50 Crore (169.50 nett)
Overseas - 97.50 crore ($11.75 million)
TOTAL - 303 crore

The worldwide numbers in all formats is as follows
India - 235 Crore (194.50 nett)
Overseas - 106 crore ($12.75 million)
TOTAL - 341 crore

ANIMAL was simply unbelievable on Monday as it recorded huge numbers of 38 crore nett which is a drop of under 30% and that is coming from a huge 50 crore nett plus number on day one. The drop at the bigger national multiplexes was just 27% for the Hindi version despite the ticket rate drop.

The mass circuits dropped even less the national chains but that was compensated by a bigger drop in South where it does have a healthy chunk of business. This takes the film to a huge 207 crore nett and the week should end up in the range of 290-300 crore nett. These numbers are coming without the aid of any holidays and the holds in core markets are much stronger than the all India number.

The length of the film hit collections over the weekend as it had nowhere to go in peak viewing periods but that is benefitting the film now as with a lesser audience on weekdays, the capacity is less of a problem. The film has dropped a little more in the South (it was very high on day one) but Hindi circuits have killed it on the Monday. ANIMAL has a better all round performance than PATHAAN, GADAR 2 and JAWAN but where it stands with these films will depend a lot on what happens when the Christmas films come.

The drops are just 20% from Friday in the main circuits like Mumbai, Delhi/UP and East Punjab. The Monday box office numbers are the highest ever when Monday has not been a holiday or there is some holiday affect on the day. All in all a phenomenal result on Monday for the film.

The four day numbers of ANIMAL in Hindi are as follows.
Friday - 52,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 56,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 61,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 38,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 2,07,50,00,000 apprx
