Akshay Kumar-starrer Welcome To The Jungle courted controversy after filmmaker Anees Bazmee shared that the movie’s producer, Firoz Nadiadwala, hadn’t paid his dues worth Rs. 2 crore. As a result, the shoot was stalled. Now we have learnt that filming will start soon.
“The shoot for Welcome To The Jungle will begin on December 11. A set has been put in Goregaon East (Mumbai) after the makers got clearance from FWICE, which got involved after the cheque given to the Bhool Bhulaiyaa filmmaker bounced and he reached out for support. However, Nadiadwala agreed to give the remaining amount to Bazmee through FWICE,” Birendra Nath Tiwari, president of the film industry worker’s union, tells us exclusively.
Tiwari confirmed that they had a meeting with Nadiadwala and that the case filed against the producer will be taken back. “There was a case running against Firoz Nadiadwala under section 138. But we have informed him that it will be retracted,” he shares, adding, “The producer will be making the cheques in the name of the association and we will pass it on to Bazmee, who is currently in Los Angeles (USA). For now, we have forwarded the agreement draft to him,” he adds.
In an earlier interview with us, Bazmee shared that he was told “Aap picture karo (Welcome 3), hum aapki sab payment clear kar denge” after the release of Welcome Back (2015), but nothing was resolved.
We tried reaching out to Nadiadwala and Bazmee, but didn’t receive any response till the time of going to press.
