ROCKY AUR RANI KII PREM KAHAANI is continuing to run in overseas in week ten post the release of JAWAN and even though it has premiered on Amazon Prime Video. The film also remains in some screens in the metros in India also but the story of this film is overseas. The films has easily crossed the $21 million mark and will end close to the $21.50 million mark.
In US/Canada, the film will end the fifth highest grosser ever after PATHAAN, JAWAN, DANGAL and PADMAAVAT at around $10.65 million. In United Kingdom, it will end up at number eight as it ends at £2.42 million ($3 million) giving Karan Johar three of the top eight films in the country. In this market, the branding of the director really works as films like KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI and KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM are seen as classics. The film continues to play in more than 20 screens in UK in week ten.
Gulf will end at $4.25 million which can be said to be not as strong as the others but its still double of all releases outside Shah Rukh Khan releases post the pandemic. The other major market Australia is ending at A$1.82 million ($1.20 million). It gives the big four markets a contribution of $19.1 million and rest of the world will be close to $2.50 million.
It is after a long time that there is so much difference for a Hindi film between India and Overseas with the latter leading by leaps and bounds. The last time this happened was also probably a Karan Johar film with MY NAME IS KHAN. But at that timem there was Shah Rukh Khan there and a film with Khan in the title which interested the Muslim audience across all overseas markets which is not the case with ROCKY AUR RANI KII PREM KAHAANI.
