Kennedy, directed by Anurag Kashyap, is the story of a contract killer before the onset of the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. The story is inspired by true events and the film boasts of crazy and ruthless characters which keeps the interest going. The political commentary induced a lot of laughs. A few scenes are memorable and the final shot is a masterstroke. Sadly, the film seems stretched. The climax part doesn't give a high (except the final shot). Also, a crucial track seemed forced just for the effect and to make a political statement. Speaking of performances, Rahul Bhat is terrific and the way he speaks through his eyes is seen to be believed. Sunny Leone does well but her character is unconvincing. Mohit Takalkar (Commissioner Rasheed Khan) and Shrikant Yadav (Inspector Kale) leave a huge mark. The same goes for Abhilash Thapliyal (Chandan) and Kurush Deboo (Parvez). The actors playing Gunjan, Uday’s wife and Uday’s daughter Aditi are fine. The opera-style background score adds to the effect. All in all, Kennedy makes for a decent watch. Here's hoping it releases without cuts in cinemas.
